Director Meghna Gulzar was right, Deepika Padukone doesn't look like herself in pics from 'Chhapaak'

It’s not every day that the Bollywood stars undergo extreme transformation to fit into a role. Unlike all earlier times, Deepika Padukone who is mostly seen in a glamorous avatar -- desi or contemporary will portray the role of a disfigured woman.

Inspired by the story of acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal, Meghna Gulzar directorial ‘Chhapaak’ has Deepika undergo layers of makeup to look like a woman who has been scarred by acid.

Shooting currently for the film in New Delhi, Deepika’s look was revealed as she waved and greeted her fans in Central delhi earlier last week. Some fan pages of the actress shared her photos and we can vouch for the fact that the actress looks completely unrecognisable.

Deepika had also teased her first look from the film and wrote: "A character that will stay with me forever...#Malti Shoot begins today!#Chhapaak. Releasing-10th January, 2020."

Deepika will be seen with Vikrant Massey in the film. Deepika will star as well as produce the film. It will release on January 10, 2020.

Meanwhile, at the Lit for Life 2019 event in Chennai, Meghna on the film said, “You won’t be seeing Deepika, you know. You will be seeing a disfigured Deepika. There is an uncanny similarity between the survivor and Deepika.”
