Deepika Padukone's 'Chhapaak' trailer gets a thumbs up from British model Katie Piper

Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Chhapaak’ trailer released a few days back and it earned praises from the industry insiders as well as the actress’s fans who called the film a brave attempt at giving an important message to the world and bringing the difficult issue of acid attack to the big screen.

Among the many people who congratulated both the director Meghna Gulzar and actress Deepika Padukone for making a film on this social issue, is British writer and model, Katie Piper.

Katie took to her Twitter account as she shared a special message for Deepika and those involved with the film. She wrote, “Watching this trailer took my breath away. I had to watch it 3 or 4 times for it all to sink in. This film explores what it really means to survive an acid attack in India.”

She continued, "This film explores what it really means to survive an acid attack in Indian. Based on true events the film follow Maltis traumatic medical journey and her fight for justice in a legal battle against her attacker a man who couldn’t cope with her rejecting his advances. Maltis face is permanently scarred but not her spirit, that is unbreakable."She tagged the actors, director and the woman on whose life the film is based, Laxmi Agarwal.

Deepika reacted to the tweet with much love and replied, “Thank You so much for your shout out Katie and I look forward to meeting you sometime soon…!❤ @KatiePiper_”

Katie Piper is an acid attack survivor herself. In 2018, she wasattacked with acid by her ex-boyfriend and an accomplice, causing major damage to her face and blindness in one eye. Piper underwent pioneering surgery to restore her face and vision.

As for 'Chhapaak', it is helmed by Meghna Gulzar andis produced by KA Productions & Fox Star Studios. It isset to release on January 10, 2020.
