Veteran New Zealand pacer Trent Boult has announced that he's playing in his last T20 World Cup. The comments came on the back of New Zealand's exit from the tournament in the group stage. This is the first time since 2014 edition that New Zealand won't be featuring in semi-finals.
"Speaking on behalf of myself, this will be my last T20 World Cup, so yeah that's all I have to say," Boult said after Kiwis beat Uganda by nine wickets in Trinidad.
"I think T20 cricket anything can happen. We're devastated to not qualify. We've been outplayed earlier in the tournament and, we haven't qualified for good reason so it's unfortunate but that's how T20 cricket goes," Boult added about New Zealand's campaign.
Boult had asked to be released from the central contract back in 2022 and yet managed to play in all three white-ball tournaments since then. The pacer featured in 2022 T20 World Cup as well as 2023 ODI World Cup too before featuring in the ongoing T20 World Cup.
For years Boult made a threating combination for New Zealand alongside Tim Southee and the veteran pacer also spoke about it.

"I look at it with very fond memories. We bowled a lot of overs together. I know the partnership very well, and obviously a very good friend on and off the ground. So yeah, nice to wind back the clock a little bit and see a bit of swing bowling at the top. Hopefully, a couple more still to come," said Boult of his partnership with Southee.
In the T20 World Cup, New Zealand were shocked by Afghanistan in their first match as they lost by 84 runs before losing to West Indies by 13 runs in the next fixture. While they managed to win against Uganda by a huge margin it still won't be enoughto make it to the knockout stage.
New Zealand play their last game of the tournament against Papua New Guinea on June 17.
