Porsche has announced a recall for certain 2020 to 2025 models of its all-electric sports car, the Taycan, due to a faulty front brake hose. This marks another recall for the Taycan, which has experienced several since its launch in 2019. The Taycan which is the first full-electric sports model of Porsche was launched in 2019 and has been marketed globally with more 150,000 units. Nevertheless, the Taycan has been associated with several recall problems and still, it’s a commercially successful vehicle.

For instance, last December, more than 41,000 Taycan models were recalled because of the charging cable issues. Late this March, several hundred models were recalled due to possible short circuit of the battery modules. The latest recall involves 31,689 units of Taycan manufactured from the year 2020 to 2025. From a letter that Porsche sent to NHTSA it was indicated that front brake hoses may degrade and cause brake fluid leakage on these cars.

While there have been no accidents recorded as having occurred in the US, Porsche is proceeding with the recall as a preventive measure. A case of reckless driving was reported in one of the countries and the vehicle was found to be moving at a speed of more than double the required limit in one case, it was moving at a speed of 120km/h in a zone that allowed a speed of 30km/h at most. The recall is a clear signal of Porsche’s focus on safety and quality and while the company persists in diversifying its product portfolio to add more electric cars.

Owners of these vehicles will be informed by Porsche starting from the July 3. Front brake hoses will be exchanged on new ones giving greater flexibility, and thus lessening the load, free of charge to the owners by dealers. Porsche customer service is reachable on 1-800-767-7243 with the recall number ARB0 for Taycan owners. There is extra data available on NHTSA website or through the NHTSA hotline number 1-888-327-4236, identification number 24V-455.

This year in February, Porsche unveiled the 2025 Taycan further extending the range, faster charging capability, and better acceleration. Subsequently in March, Porsche revealed the Taycan Turbo GT which happens to be its quickest road car. It engines has a power output of 1,092 hp and will do the 0-60 mph sprint in under 2.1 seconds, thus competing with the Tesla Model S.
