It is predicted that Hurricane Beryl will continue thecurrent course out of the US state ofTexas, into Louisiana and Arkansas, and then even farther north.
The storm has weakened much more as it has gone onshore. However, tornadoes were still a possibility.
On Monday (July 8), meteorologists warned of tornadoes in many areas of Louisiana and East Texas.

The Category 1 hurricane, which made landfall in Texas at about 4:00 am (local time) on Monday (Jul 8), weakened as it moved through the enormous metropolis and its suburbs. However, the severity of its winds left residents of the city ofHouston reeling for the second time in two months, following a devastating thunderstorm system that swept over the city in May.

Beryl brought intense rainfall acrossHouston, causing flood waters to reach the top of many of the city’s drainage bayous and, in some instances, overflow them. Additionally, parts of highways and underpasses became submerged.
Officials reported that at least 47 people had to be rescued from the rising waters.
However, extensive residential flooding was avoided throughout the city. In contrast to Hurricane Harvey, which decimated the city in 2017, Beryl passed past Houston very swiftly, arriving in the early morning and leaving by the afternoon.
Although water levels were high in many areas, some had already started to recede on Monday, and this trend was expected to continue on Tuesday (Jul 9).
The storm's intensity was significantly reduced from its peak in the Caribbean. Beryl developed in June and became the earliest Category 5 hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic Ocean.
In Venezuela and on several Caribbean islands, including Jamaica, the hurricane claimed the lives of at least 11 people.
When Beryl slammed Carriacou and Petite Martinique, Grenada, as a Category 4 storm on July 1, it destroyed around 98 per centof the buildings, which were home toapproximately 10,000 people, according to authorities.
