The Ukrainian parliament has appointed Andrii Sybiha as new foreign minister on Thursday, replacing Dmytro Kuleba, amid cabinet's biggest reshufflesinceRussia's 2022 invasion.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked the parliament on Thursday (Sep 5) to confirm first deputy foreign minister Andrii Sybiha as Ukraine's new foreign minister at a critical juncture in the war against Russia.

Sybiha's nomination was approved by the parliament later on Thursday.

Sybiha, a 49-year-old career diplomat, has worked for several years in Zelensky's office, overseeing foreign policy and strategic partnerships.

This marks the largest reshuffle in the Ukrainiangovernment since Russia began what it calls its "special military operation" in Ukraine.

The unicameral parliament of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will be holding a meeting on Thursday to dismiss several ministers who have resigned and will be approving nine candidates put forward by Zelensky's ruling Servant of the People Party, as per several party members.

Parliament accepted Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba's resignation

The Ukrainian parliament has already accepted Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba's resignation.

Moreover, it has also approved the resignations of two deputy prime ministers and several ministers in the last two days.

Along with Kuleba, Oleksandr Kamyshin, the strategic industries minister; Denys Malyuska, the justice minister; Iryna Vereshchuk, the deputy prime minister in charge of occupied territories; and Vitaliy Koval, the head of the state property fund, were among those who resigned.

According to analysts, no change is expected in Ukraine's foreign policy. During its war with Russia, the foreign minister often played second fiddle to the president's office on many key matters of foreign policy.

Additionally, the Ukrainian parliament is also expected to appoint eight other new ministers on Thursday.

Since the beginning of the Russianinvasion of Ukraine, the Ukrainian government has gone through numerous personnel changes, including the replacement of the defence minister, the commander in chief of the armed forces, and the leaders of foreign and domestic intelligence services and the national security office.

The reshuffling comes amid ongoing violent attacks by Russia on Ukraine.

Earlier on Wednesday, Russian strikes in Ukraine's Lviv killed seven people, including three children.
