Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump are set to meet on Friday (August 15) in Alaska to discuss the future of the Russia-Ukraine war and peace efforts. Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov on Thursday detailed the agenda of the meeting, along with the timings.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that no "document" will be issued by Russia and the US after the Trump-Putin talks tomorrow.
"(A document) is not expected. Nothing has been prepared," TASS news agency cites Peskov. He added that given "there will be a joint news conference, the president will of course outline the set of agreements (and) understandings that he will manage to achieve".
Timings
The talks between the two leaders are scheduled to begin at 22:30 Moscow time (7:30 GMT/1 am IST) in Alaska, at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base.

Trump and Putin are expected to discuss ways to settle the Ukraine conflict during their talks in Alaska on Friday, the Kremlin aide said. The central topic between the two leaders will be the resolution of the Ukraine crisis. Following the meeting between Putin and Trump, they will be giving a joint press conference, Ushakov confirmed.
Initially, Putin and Trump will first hold a one-on-one meeting, and later, with the participation of delegations. The Russian delegation will include Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Defence Minister Andrey Belousov, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, Ushakov himself, and presidential envoy for international investment and economic cooperation Kirill Dmitriev.
As confirmed by Ushakov, the negotiations will be attended by five members of the delegations from each side.
Moreover, not just the Ukraine peace talks, the leaders are also expected to address bilateral cooperation, including economic and trade relations. Earlier on Wednesday, Trump suggested future negotiations could involve land swaps and potentially a follow-up summit with Putin as well as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Yesterday, during the virtual call with Trump, Zelensky said that he told US President Donald Trump and European leaders during the virtual call that Russian President Vladimir Putin is “bluffing”, adding that the Russian leader doesn’t “want peace”.
He further urged more sanctions on Russia if it rejects the ceasefire during the talks in Alaska on August 15. “We hope that the central topic at the meeting will be a ceasefire. An immediate ceasefire,” Zelensky said, adding, “Sanctions must be in place and must be strengthened if Russia does not agree to a ceasefire."
