Ryan Kobayashi, father of a missing Hawaii woman was found dead in California on Sunday (Nov 24) after he travelled there in search of her, BBC reported.
A 30-year-old woman, Hannah Kobayashi, was reported missing earlier this month from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) while travelling to New York.
Her father had travelled from Los Angeles to California to help authorities search for his daughter.
Officials confirmed the 58-year-old father was found dead in a car park near the airport,
The police have not disclosed the suspected cause of death yet. But a non-profit group aiding in the search confirmed to theBBC that the father had died by suicide.
The father of the woman went missing on November 8, shortly after landing in LA.
The woman's whereabouts remain unfound.
Hannah was travelling to New York for a concert which her family reported was on her "bucket list."
Her family told BBC that since her disappearance, they have received strange text messages from her mobile phone. In texts, she was reported saying she had been "tricked pretty much into giving away all my funds" to "someone I thought I loved".
After her missing report, she was spotted a few times in a mall in LA on November 10 and further was seen in a CCTV video with an unknown person at a metro station.
Before his death, the father talked to media where he said, "We’re just trying to get us as much information as we can. Everything is just a blur it seems, because I haven’t slept well since I’ve heard the news."
