Akron police are investigating an overnight shooting in which at least 27 people were shot and one died. According to a Sunday press release from police, many 911 callers reported shots being fired shortly after midnight at Kelly and 8th avenues.

Soon after, nearby hospitals reported a large number of patients with gunshot wounds arriving to emergency rooms. Akron police had identified at least 27 victims as of Sunday morning, including a 27-year-old man who died. His identity has not been revealed.

According to the release, officers seized several dozen shot casings and a gun from the site. The investigation is still in its early stages. There was no more information provided by police concerning the victims or suspects. As of yet, no one has been arrested.

Meanwhile, a shooting at a bar in suburban Pittsburgh has left two people dead and seven others injured, police said Sunday. Allegheny County Police Department’s homicide unit said it has responded to a request for help by Penn Hills Police Department after the early morning shooting at the Ballers Hookah Lounge and Cigar Bar in Penn Hills.

First responders discovered the bodies of an adult male and adult female inside the bar around 3 am Sunday. Seven additional victims were found. Some were transported from the scene and additional victims walked into area hospitals, Allegheny County police said in a statement on social media. One of the victims is in critical condition. The remaining victims all had injuries that were not life-threatening, the statement said.
