A chilling CCTV footage emerged in which a masked man was seen using a belt to choke and drag a woman between cars parked on a Bronxstreet and eventually raping her.
The horrifying incident happened on May 1 around 3 am (local time) when the accused followed the 45-year-old woman. The woman was walking on the sidewalk at East 152nd Street and Third Avenue when she was assaulted, said the police.
In the video, the man is seen whipping out a belt and then flinging it across the 45-year-oldwoman’s neck to catch hold of her when she was walking on the sidewalk at East 152nd Street and Third Avenue.
The perpetrator had covered his face with a white towel when he approached her from behind. As soon as he attacked the woman, she fell unconscious.

The man dragged the victim down the pavement and took her between two cars, where he raped her. In the CCTV video, he is seen attacking and dragging the woman between the two cars.
The accused ran away from the crime scene after assaulting the woman and the police have not yet caught him.
The sexual assault case is being investigated by the NYPD’s Special Victims Unit. However, the victim is notcooperatingwith authorities, as per the police officials.
As per The Washington Post, the man fled in the middle of the ordeal towards Melrose Avenue on foot and vanished from the area.
As per the police, the woman was shifted to a nearby hospital and is now in stable condition.
According to the New York Police Department, the man and woman are likely to have known each other. They added that the man was aware of the woman's daily schedule. The neighbours of Bronx Street are shocked to see the viral video.

Speaking to abc7NY, a resident Justo Cordero said, “It's sad for women, it's sad for everybody, but women take the worst part.”
“At any given moment someone can come and hurt you and police, when they need to be here they're not,” said another resident Luz Hernandez.
According to the crime stats of the department in April, six more rape cases were reported last month taking the total tally to 124, in comparison to April 2023 when the department had received 118 such reports.
