Reports have emerged that Jeff Walz, the brother of Tim Walz, who is Democratic presidential candidateKamala Harris' running mate andvice presidential candidate for the upcoming election, is considering supporting Republican candidate and former United States President Donald Trump.
What sparked the debate about Jeff Walz’s political leanings?
The political leanings of the often private Jeff Walz gained significant attention on social media after investigative journalist Laura Loomer, known for her inside information and founder of Loomered, mentioned Jeff’s apparent dissatisfaction with his brother, the incumbentgovernor of Minnesota, based on his Facebook post.
Although the authenticity of the shared photo remains unconfirmed, Loomer's post quickly gained traction and became a topic of heated discussion.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Loomer stated, "Tim Walz @GovTimWalz and @KamalaHarris are such a bad Presidential ticket that Walz's own BROTHER is supporting Donald Trump instead."
Loomer also provided what she claimed as “evidence,” saying, "According to these FEC records, Jeff Walz, the brother of VP candidate Tim Walz, donated to President Trump's presidential campaign in 2016. Jeff Walz lives in Florida. Perhaps I will go interview and ask him about his support for Donald Trump."
Loomer shared more details, alleging that on March 30, 2023, the same day Trump faced charges for business fraud, Jeff Walz referred to the US under President JoeBiden's leadership as a “third world banana republic” on Facebook.
She further wrote, “Jeff Walz, the brother of Democrat Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz, donated to President Trump’s 2016 Presidential campaign and said ‘We’ve just become a third world banana republic’ on his Facebook page... Now she’s running for President with Jeff’s brother.”
How did Jeff Walz respond to the claims?
Following Loomer's revelations, Jeff Walz took to Facebook to distance himself from his brother’s political beliefs. In one comment, he wrote, "The stories I could tell. Not the type of character you want making decisions about your future."
He also disclosed a strained relationship with his brother, noting, "Haven't spoken to him in 8 years. I'm 100% opposed to all his ideology."
Jeff claimed that after Tim Walz was chosen as Harris’running mate, his family wasn’t informed or given any security. He also mentioned that he had "considered" aligning with Trump and publicly endorsing his re-election.
