A Japanese wood products company, Sumitomo Forestry, is planning to build a 350-metre high wooden skyscraper in Tokyo.

The W350 tower is expected to be at least 70 floors high and will be erected in central Tokyo. The tower will be 90 per cent wooden and 10 per cent steel. The estimated cost of building the giant building is close to 600 billion yen ($5 billion).
Experts at the company believe that technological advancements may reduce the total estimated cost of building the skyscraper by the year 2041. The company will mark its 350th anniversary in 2041.
Currently, the world's tallest wooden building rests in Canada and stands tall at 53 metres.
