Over the seven seasons that have aired on HBO, Game of Thrones has promised to keep its fans on tenterhooks, literally by the edge. Every season we gained some, we lost some. Like all good things that come to an end, he has too. (spoilers)
The erstwhile bastard of the Winterfell, the King of the North can now be called the true heir to the Iron Throne(and we genuinely don't know how we feel about it). The underdog that we loved is no more an underdog and that somehow takes the charm away from him.
Also, fans feel that his constant failure at keeping up with the challenges, at least on his own is a blot on his character. All episodes until now, he has fought like a hero but has desperately needed a support/ some type of saving--Maester Aemon at Castle Black, Stannis Baratheon, Melissandre, the Lord of Light, Knights of the Vale, Sansa, Daenerys Targaryen, Uncle Ben beyond the Wall.
Some viewers also feel quite passionately about his bending the knee toDaenerys Targaryen, the queen of the dragons as a foul move. She is a queen that most see as an outsider and are troubled by her temper--she burns her detractors.
For the finale, however, fans are happy about the professed romance cum love between the two but it's not appreciated by all as after all, it is the start of an incestuous relationship.
On the other side, the finale has set the space for the next and final season--The Great Wall being down and white walkers having an ice dragon.
