US billionaire Elon Musk has struck back after not being invited to the UK government's International Investment Summit.

Musk did not get the invitation due to his social media posts during last month’s riots, according to the BBC.

"I don’t think anyone should go to the UK when they’re releasing convicted pedophiles in order to imprison people for social media posts," Musk posted on X.

Musk's remarks came, noting that, earlier this month, the UK government released some prisoners to handle the overcrowding, however, no sex offenders were included.

In an effort to combat overcrowding in the prison, around 1,750 inmates were released early from jails in England and Wales earlier this month.

Later, following the rioting across the country last month, some people were jailed for encouraging unrest on social media.

The government's plan to alleviate the overcrowding led to several problems. Hundreds of prisoners were freed without tags despite the devices being a condition of their release, and another prisoner was accused of sexually assaulting a woman on the day he was freed.

According to the scheme, criminals serving prison sentences of less than four years for violent offenses, including manslaughter, are among those eligible to be freed.

Violence triggered across the UK after a stabbing attack in Southport, killing three children attending a dance class. At that time, Musk took to X, predicting civil war in the UK and repeatedly attacking the prime minister.

International Investment Summit

The government's International Investment Summit is scheduled for October and is the key moment that UK PM Keir Starmer hopes to attract tens of billions of pounds in inward funding for business from the world’s biggest investors.

Muskwas invited to last year's summit, but he did not attend. But, he took a starring role in November's AI Summit, including a fireside chat with then PM Rishi Sunak.

As per the report, BBC approached the UK government for their comment, however, there is no response yet.
