COVID 19: Human trials for potential vaccine begins; initial results expected in August

China has started human trials of its sixth experimental COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine is being tested with the help of the UK's GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and the US' Dynavax.

Clover Biopharmaceuticals has announced on Friday that the company has started the early-stage study of its candidate with vaccine boosters.

The human trials are being carried out on nearly 150 adults, including elderly. The trial will majorly be analyzing two boosters in combination with Clover's candidate shot, SCB-2019, the Chinese company said.

The initial data related to safety of the vaccine and the analysis is expected to be released in the early days of August, and depending on the the report, the company will decide on whether or not to expand the studies by the end of this year.

Clover and the British drugmaker began their collaboration for a coronavirus vaccine in February this year and the Chinese firm partnered with Dynavax the following month.
