China's Vice Premier Liu He will visit the United States next week to continue trade discussions between both the countries.
Liu He's talks with a high-level US delegation in Beijing last week made little headway in resolving the ongoing trade standoff between Trump administration and Xi regime.
"China's top economic advisor, the vice premier, will be coming here next week to continue the discussions with the President's economic team," White House press secretary Sarah Sanders noted.
"The president has a great relationship with President Xi," Sanders said. "And we are working on something that we think will be great for everybody."
US President Donald Trump had previously accused China of using unfair practices to get an unfair advantage over US exporters. The two countries have been busy threatening each other with trade tariffs on billions of dollars of goods.
The ongoing trade spat between US and China can potentially fuel a trade war between the economic superpowers, something that can cause long-term damage to the global economy.
