Cult leader Charles Manson, in a newly released prison call, accepted that he had involvement in additional killings which occurred before his assembly of the notorious "Manson Family".

Manson, who was behind the killings during the late 1960s in California, said that he “got involved in a couple of killings” when he was living in Mexico in the 1960s.

The audio recording was featured in a clip of Peacock’s upcoming docuseries Making Manson.

In the phone call from prison, Manson said, "See there’s a whole part of my life that nobody knows about,” Manson says in a phone call from prison. “I lived in Mexico for a while. I went to Acapulco, stole some cars. I just got involved in stuff over my head, man. Got involved in a couple of killings. I left my .357 Magnum in Mexico City, and I left some dead people on the beach.”

The audio call was part of the never-before-released conversations which experts have released in the three-part documentary series.

The documentary of Charles Manson, a notorious criminal

Making Manson, which was directed by Billie Mintz, is a study of all that the notorious criminal has said in phone calls with a friend over 20 years.

Speaking at a 2012 parole hearing, Manson was heard saying to one of his prison psychologists, “I’m special. I’m not like the average inmate. I have spent my life in prison. I have put five people in the grave. I am a very dangerous man.”

The new docuseries will be premiering next Tuesday. Speaking about it, Peacock said, “Former ‘Family’ members listen to the exclusive conversations and are taken back to the time when they ‘would do anything for Charlie’.”

“Manson recounts the early crimes that led to the murder spree in the summer of 69, laying out an explanation of loyalty and brotherhood that pushes against the accepted motive: his desire to incite Helter Skelter,” it added.

Manson was serving a commuted death sentence for a series of killings in Los Angeles when he died in 2017.
