A 17-year-old Russian girl has been arrested for allegedly masterminding the Blue Whale Challenge suicide group which has been linked to suicides of more than 100 children across the world.
A report in Daily Mail quoted a Russian interior ministry official as saying that the girl was sending life-threatening tasks to dozens of members of the group.
The unnamed girl, who was the "group administrator" of the suicide game threatened she would murder the children and their families if they failed to complete their task - the final one was to commit suicide.
The tasks assigned by her included cutting themselves with razor blades and other acts of self-harm.
Police, who searched the girl's home in Kamchatka, found drawings of figures with their wrists cut, and a portrait she made of the inventor of the Blue Whale Challenge, 22-year-old Philipp Budeikin.
Budeikin, was jailed for over three years in July in Russia's first conviction involving the Blue Whale Challenge.
