India's major health milestone: 20,000 transplants in 2025

India achieved a historic healthcare milestone in 2025 by performing 20,138 organ transplants, crossing the 20,000 threshold in a single year for the first time. This marks a fourfold increase since 2013 and positions India third globally in total transplants while retaining the top spot worldwide for living donor procedures.
