China builds ‘planetary defence’ team as concerns grow over 2024 YR4 asteroid

In response to the discovery of asteroid 2024 YR4, which has a 2.2% chance of impacting Earth in 2032, China is forming a planetary defense team to monitor and develop early warning systems for near-Earth objects.
