In the strike, at least 356 people were killed and more than 1,246 others were injured.

Israel has been widening its aerial assault campaign because it believes that southern and eastern Lebanon is hosting Hezbollah's weapon sites.

According to an Israeli military official, the aim of the campaign is to degrade the military capability of the group.

In these airstrikes, nearly 500 people have lost their lives and more than 1000 have been injured. European foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has said that this escalation is pushing the region into an “all-out war”.

Journalists' threatening security amid an escalating war

In a report, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has emphasised how journalists face the risk of losing their lives while reporting in such conflict zones.

It added that journalists continue to do their work without having adequate communication or protection.

“Every time a journalist is killed, injured, arrested, or forced to go to exile, we lose fragments of the truth. Those responsible for these casualties face dual trials: one under international law and another before history’s unforgiving gaze,” said CPJ Programme Director Carlos Martinez de la Serna in the report.

According to the United Nations, more than 122 journalists have lost their lives since the start of the Gaza war till February 2024.
