According to the post, the cat’s name is Pepé, and he went missing nine years ago. Its owners, Caroline and her nine-year-old daughter, got to meet Pepé after nearly a decade.

Police officer Liz Harrison found the cat while she was leaving for home after work. On August 28, 2024, she was at the Motorway Post of the Lancashire Police in Samlesbury when she heard a cat meow in the parking area.

She then saw a cat who was walking through the Lancashire car park with great difficulty. Harrison checked her and noticed that her paw had an injury. She picked up the cat, put it in a box, and took it to a neighbouring vet clinic to be treated.

As per a Manchester Evening News report, the vet found a microchip in the cat. This helped them locate its owners whom they immediately contacted, leaving a voicemail. After hearing the voicemail, Caroline called the vets and told them that her cat had gone missing nine years ago.

She further informed that at the time they had filed a report and put up missing posters. However, no one turned up with any information on him all these years. Caroline and her daughter then reached Samlesbury and took Pepé home.

Feline travels 2000 miles, reunites with owners

In another incident, a cat who somehow travelled nearly 2,000 miles from Texas to Massachusetts was reunited with its owner after two years. The family lost the cat during a cold January in Texas and could never find it again. However, staff members of a shelter in Massachusetts were in for a surprise when a person brought in a frail cat. It had a microchip scanner implanted.

The cat was Shoto and the shelter contacted the family. Since the area code showed up as Massachusetts on the call, the family thought it was a spam call. But they made contact and drove 26 hours each way to bring Shoto home.
