The police were forced to do the lathi charge after the protesters broke the barricades at the JP Golambar intersection and reached the Dak Bungalow Chowk. As a result, the traffic got blocked.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Patna, Rajeev Mishra, said to PTI, âSecurity personnel resorted to mild lathi-charge to disperse protesters who blocked movement of traffic at Dak Bunglow Chowk and later broke the police barricade. No one was injured in the incident. Now the situation is completely under control.â

The Bharat Bandh was announced by âReservation Bachao Sangharsh Samitiâ, against a ruling of the Supreme Court. The ruling said that the governments can further sub-classify the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes to grant the quota to more backward castes who are in genuine need of it, amongst these communities. The Bharat Bandh supporters are demanding the Supreme Court ruling to be reversed.
