India and Pakistan are set to lock horns with each other in match 4 of the Super 12 round in the T20 World Cup 2021, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. The hype is on another level for the marquee encounter as both sides are meeting each other for the first time in over two years.

India and Pakistan had last played each other during the 2019 ODI World Cup, where Virat Kohli & Co. thrashed Sarfaraz Ahmed-led Pakistan by 89 runs (DLS method). On the other hand, this will also be the first T20I between both sides following their face-off in the previous edition of the T20 WC. Back then, India had defeated Pakistan by 6 wickets, in 2016, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

For the unversed, India have a 7-0 lead in the ODI World Cup versus the Men in Green. On the other hand, they lead Pakistan 5-0 in T20 WC history. Prior to the clash, former Pakistan wicketkeeper-captain Rashid Latif feels India have problems of plenty with several power-hitters and bowling options to choose from. Hence, Kohli might err in team selection, giving Pakistan a chance to break their unbeaten streak.

The 52-year-old also pointed out speaking via Khaleef Times, "We have to see what Virat does if he wins the toss, and what combination he will be playing", he said.

"Will he play Suryakumar Yadav? Or Ishan Kishan? Then you also have to see which spinners they will play. There is Varun Chakravarthy, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. So there is a chance of making a mistake by the captain in terms of picking the right players because you have so many options", he also stated.

It will be interesting to see what team combination India goes ahead with for the Pakistan face-off. Will R Ashwin get a look-in and play his first-ever limited-overs game for Team India since 2017 or will Varun Chakravarthy be preferred over the experienced Ashwin? Also, Bhuvneshwar Kumar's form isn't great, however, his overall experience might team the Indian team management to give him a chance in their tournament-opener.

In case Bhuvi misses out, Shardul Thakur might get the nod in the playing XI.

Rohit Sharma to Chris Gayle: A look at players who have featured in all 7 editions of T20 World Cup so far

Veteran batter Robin Uthappa believes it won't matter to India captain Virat Kohli whether he wins the T20 World Cup as a skipper or a player. The ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 is all set to be Kohli's last T20I tournament as the captain of the Indian side as he has already announced he will be stepping down as the captain in the shortest format after the conclusion of the showpiece event in UAE and Oman.

Uthappa believes the Indian team will be focused on winning the T20 World Cup 2021 as this will be Kohli's last series as the captain. Nonetheless, Kohli will continue playing as a pure batsman and will be looking to continue giving his all with the willow after leaving captaincy.

"What has more value is as a player he still has a long way to go. Knowing Virat, I don't think it matters to him whether he wins as a captain or as a player. He just wants to win a World Cup and I think that's more important," Uthappa was quoted as saying by India Today.

Kohli had announced his decision to quit T20 captaincy ahead of the start of the T20 World Cup 2021. He has also stepped down from the post of captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL and will not be leading the side from the 2022 season.

Kohli's decision to leave India's T20 captaincy came as a surprise to many and has been talked about a lot. Uthappa's lauded Kohli for maturing as a captain in the last few years and said he has been exceptional as a leader, especially in Test cricket.

"That mindset we should shift in our heads, yes the desire is there. He's been an exceptional captain and grown a lot as time has gone. He's matured a lot into his captaincy and has been exceptional over the last couple of years, especially in Test cricket," Uthappa said.

Kohli is yet to win an ICC trophy as the captain of the Indian team and will be looking to bring an end to the drought in the T20 World Cup 2021 this year.

Aaron Finch-led Australia will take on Temba Bavuma's South Africa in the opening match of the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup 2021 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Saturday (October 23). Both Australia and South Africa have been heavyweights in Tests and ODIs, however, they are yet to dominate the shortest format.

Over the years, the two teams have produced some thrilling encounters between them and have gotten the better of each other on several occasions. They are placed in Group 1 along with the likes of West Indies, England and Bangladesh. Both teams will be looking to get off to a winning start and get the advantage in the race for the semi-finals.

For Australia, the form of the likes of David Warner and skipper Finch will be a concern. While Finch played his last T20I game in July this year and did not feature in IPL 2021, Warner endured a poor run in the IPL and could only manage eight appearances throughout the season.

All-rounder Mitchell Marsh will also be making his comeback after a long period of inactivity. Australia's chances will depend on the performances of all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis who possess the ability to change the course of a game with both the bat and the ball.

On the other hand, South Africa skipper Bavuma returned to the playing XI after a gap of 50 days when he featured in the practice game against Pakistan on Wednesday where he scored 46 off 42 balls. Rassie van der Dussen played a brilliant knock of unbeaten 101 off 51 balls and was the stand out performer for the Proteas. He will be looking to carry his purple patch against the Aussies on Saturday.

The news went viral in no time as Team India fans were over the moon to know that the 40-year-old will join back the national side in a new role for the marquee event, being held in the UAE. Ever since Dhoni took up the new role, post IPL 2021, images of the former wicketkeeper-batsman are going viral on social media, donning the Indian team's practice jersey for the showpiece event. On Friday evening (October 22), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a new image of Dhoni where he turned throwdown specialist for the Men in Blue at the nets, ahead of their tournament-opener versus Pakistan on October 24 (Sunday). Here are the images, shared from BCCI's official Twitter handle. BCCI captioned the post, "Revealing #TeamIndia’s latest throwdown specialist!" "Such practical inputs and such intricate details of where the game is going and where we can improve. Massive experience. T20 WC: Mentor MS Dhoni turns throwdown specialist in Team India nets ahead of Pakistan face-off

Team India will begin their campaign in the main draw of the T20 World Cup 2021, versus arch-rivals Pakistan on October 24 (Sunday), at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. The Men in Blue are one of the favourites for the marquee event and will like to win their second title in the seventh edition of the T20 WC.

While Virat Kohli-led India have a daunting line-up, comprising Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, etc., the Indian team will feel the pressure to win the ICC event as they haven't won any major title since their triumph in the 2013 Champions Trophy. Following that, India have entered the semi-finals in every preceding ICC event, however, couldn't return with the title.

Speaking at length on India's recent struggles in ICC knockouts since 2013 CT win, where they've lost three finals and equal number of semis during this period, Little Master Sunil Gavaskar said they need to change their selection process and pointed out few other important aspects that need to be tweaked.

Gavaskar said on 'Salaam Cricket' show on Sports Tak, "One of India's weaknesses in knockouts has been the selection of final XI. Sometimes, it's also about the mindset. It is often said that 'runs on the board' matter a lot in the final, and that you should bat first. Even if you score 140, it is difficult for the opposition to maintain 7 rpo in the chase; specifically in international cricket."

"We haven't done that (batted first). Batting second invites pressure; if you lose wickets early, you need a consolidation period of 7-8 overs, so it becomes difficult to catch up," he added.

T20 WC: Sunil Gavaskar decodes reasons behind India's failures in ICC knockouts

Ahead of the T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli had dropped a bomb by announcing that the ICC event will be his last as India's T20I captian. Kohli said in a statement on Twitter and Instagram, "I have been fortunate enough to not only represent India but also lead the Indian Cricket Team to my utmost capability. I thank everyone who has supported me in my journey as the Captain of the Indian Cricket Team. I couldn't have done it without them - the boys, the support staff, the selection committee, my coaches and each and every Indian who prayed for us to win.

Understanding workload is a very important thing and considering my immense workload over the last 8-9 years playing all 3 formats and captaining regularly for the last 5-6 years, I feel I need to give myself space to be fully ready to lead the Indian Team in Test and ODI cricket. I have given everything to the Team during my team as T20 Captain and I will continue to do so for the T20 Team as a batsman moving forward."

Thus, Kohli will be eager to sign off on a high as India's captain in the shortest format by taking the national side to their second title in the 2021 T20 WC, in the UAE.

Pakistan great and former speedster Wasim Akram feels the 32-year-old Kohli will go bonkers with the bat after giving up T20I captaincy. “He (Kohli) realised it's time to handover the captaincy to someone else now and I just want to play my shots in T20. And when he'll come into this mode, I don't think anyone will be able to stop him,” Akram noted during the 'Salaam Cricket' Show on Sports Tak.

On the other hand, Sunil Gavaskar also opined on the same and said, "When you're a captain, you have to start investing yourself for the team. How to encourage the ones not in form be it batter or a bowler. These are certain duties of a captain who while following it sometimes tend to neglect his own form. So when you're not the captain, you can focus on your game and I feel it will be good. You don't have to think about the added responsibility, and can completely focus on yourself and score big."

New Zealand abandoned their tour of Pakistan, on September 17, just ahead of the tour-opener at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi. The New Zealand Cricket Board (NZC) went with the decision to withdraw their tour citing security concerns.

Following this, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was in disarray as the Men in Green had now starting hosting international games at regular intervals, post the 2009 Lahore terror attacks. Post NZ's withdrawal, the England Cricket Board (ECB) also followed suit by not sending their men's and women's teams for the Pakistan tour. Thus, Shoaib Akhtar -- also known as Rawalpindi Express -- has his eyes on Babar Azam-led Pakistan's upcoming encounter versus the Black Caps in the T20 World Cup 2021.

India and Pakistan are set to lock horns in the upcoming match of the T20 World Cup 2021, in the UAE, which will be the tournament-opener for both sides in the main draw of the showpiece event. Both sides last met in the 2019 ODI World Cup, where Virat Kohli-led India thrashed Pakistan by 89 runs (DLS method).

In addition, India beat Pakistan by 6 wickets in what was the last face-off between both sides in the shortest format, during the 2016 edition of T20 WC. Ahead of the marquee encounter, many experts and former cricketers have labelled India as the favourites due to their unbeaten streak versus the Men in Green in World Cups (both ODIs and T20Is). However, Babar Azam has played down India's superior record and believes history will be created with Pakistan beating India in the upcoming face-off, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday (October 24).

'Past is history': Babar Azam on India's unbeaten record against Pakistan in World Cups

KL Rahul is likely to be India's first-choice opener alongside Rohit Sharma in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021. Rahul has been in magnificent form over the last couple of years and is heading into the showpiece event on a confident note after finishing third in the list of highest run-getters in IPL 2021.

However, discarded India pacer S Sreesanth believes captain Virat Kohli should open for India with Rohit in the T20 World Cup. Sreesanth feels Rohit and Kohli can form a deadly opening pair for the Men in Blue. Besides Rahul, India also have an in-form Ishan Kishan as a back-opener in the squad.

Kohli and Rohit had opened the innings for India in a couple of matches during the home T20I series against England this year. However, Rahul is likely to keep his spot after yet another stellar IPL season for Punjab Kings with the bat. Nonetheless, Sreesanth said Rahul can bat at number 3 and Kohli should open for India at the T20 World Cup.

“In 2016, when Virat opened the innings for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), he scored four hundreds. So, I think Virat Kohli should open the innings with Rohit Sharma. Many people may not agree with me, but I think it will be like the deadliest thing. Also, KL Rahul should bat at No. 3. In T20s, Rishabh Pant can bat at No. 4," Sreesanth was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.

Rohit opened the innings with Rahul in India's second warm-up match against Australia on Wednesday. While the Hitman scored a 41-ball 60, Rahul continued his purple patch with 39 off 31 balls. The Men in Blue won the game comfortably by 8 wickets.

However, Pakistan's former speedster and legendary player Wasim Akram downplayed India's dominance over Pakistan in WCs. "But when you head into a World Cup, you don't note these things. That's the job of a statistician. But as a player, it doesn't bother me or any Pakistan or Indian player as well. In the World Cups, every match matters. Every team is there to win the World Cup. Yes, the India-Pakistan game is very crucial. It's the biggest game of the tournament. Players are feeling a bit of pressure. But once the game starts, you get on with the game and you forget everything else. You start thinking about how to focus on the game," he added.

T20 WC: "No one thinks about head-to-head record' - Wasim Akram downplays India's dominance over Pakistan

Ahead of India's T20 World Cup 2021 opener, versus Pakistan, on October 24 at Dubai, some of the key Indian players took up the dalgona candy, inspired from Netflix's popular drama series 'Squid Game'. The likes of Hitman Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Mohammed Shami and Varun Chakravarthy took up the challenge where they were required to carve out shapes drawn in the candies without breaking it. In the show, players who fail to do so within the stipulated time get killed.

For the unversed, only Rohit and Shami succeeded whereas the likes of Rahul, SKY, Varun and Bumrah faltered. The video got shared on the official Instagram handle of the International Cricket Council's (ICC).

"India put to the test in nerve-wracking game," ICC captioned its Instagram post along with the video. "Indian Cricket Team stars are put to the test with a game made famous by one of the world's most talked about shows," it added.

Team India take 'Squid Game' challenge ahead of T20 World Cup opener, only two succeed - WATCH

The main draw of the T20 World Cup 2021 is set to commence from Saturday (October 23). The qualifying round kicked off the tournament, on October 17, but all eyes are on the Super 12 round that will see all the major teams lock horns with each other and fight for the four semi-final spots.

India will take on Pakistan in what will be both sides' tournament-opener on October 24 (Sunday), at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. Ahead of the blockbuster face-off, former Pakistan chief selector and captain Inzamam-ul-Haq shared his thoughts on the epic rivalry and explained why Virat Kohli-led Team India have a very good chance to return with the coveted title.

"In any tournament, it cannot be said for certain that a particular team will win. It's all about how much chance do they have of winning it. In my opinion, India have a greater chance than any other team of winning this tournament, especially in conditions like these. They have experienced T20 players as well," Inzamam said on his YouTube channel.

"India played their warm-up fixture against Australia rather comfortably. On subcontinent pitches like these, India are the most dangerous T20 side in the world. Even today, if we see the 155 runs they chased down, they did not even need Virat Kohli to do so," he added.

He further opined on the Indo-Pak rivalry and said, "The match between India and Pakistan in the Super 12s is the final before the final. No match will be hyped as much as this one. Even in the 2017 Champions Trophy, India and Pakistan started and finished the tournament by facing each other and both the matches felt like finals. The team winning that match will have their morale boosted and will also have 50 percent of pressure released from them."

India have a 5-0 lead over the Babar Azam-led Men in Green in the T20 WC history. However, they won't like to take the arch-rivals lightly as Pakistan have enough firepower to stun a rampant Indian team.

India and Pakistan are placed in Pool B along with New Zealand and Afghanistan whereas England, West Indies, Australia and South Africa are in Pool A. Four more teams will join the Super 12, two in each group, from the qualifiers.

Inzamam-ul-Haq explains why Virat Kohli-led India have 'great chance of winning T20 WC'

Babar Azam-led Pakistan completed their two warm-up encounters in the T20 World Cup 2021 before they face Virat Kohli's Team India in both sides' tournament-opener, on October 24 (Sunday) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

While Pakistan comprehensively beat West Indies, by 7 wickets, in their first warm-up game, they lost to South Africa by 6 wickets in a last-over thriller. The Men in Green will, however, feel confident heading into the encounter versus India as they are one of the top-three sides in ICC T20I rankings and have enough firepower to stun their arch-rivals. However, former tainted Pakistan skipper Salman Butt isn't impressed with Babar & Co. after the warm-up games.

Speaking on his Youtube channel, Butt slammed Babar-led Pakistan for not giving their out-of-form players enough chances in the warm-up games before the main draw of the showpiece event kicks off from October 23 (Saturday).

'Don't know what insecurity we have that 'someone else should not make runs in that position or someone else should not get that opportunity'

Butt said, "India have utilized these warm-up matches well... they've given game time to everyone despite the fact that they've all played the IPL. If they had not done this and had played with their playing XI, even then we could have argued that 'They haven't played together as a team so are doing it now'. But even they didn't do it. I don't know what insecurity we have that 'someone else should not make runs in that position or someone else should not get that opportunity'. For God's sake, you are the captain, you have to use your players, where will you do that?"

"Can't it happen that God forbid that you both [Babar and Rizwan] will get out in the first over? Then also someone will have to play against the new ball. See, Babar got out early here [against South Africa] na? Now, what is their mindset of going ahead? I don't understand this strategy," he added.

'I don't know what insecurity we' - Salman Butt slams Babar Azam & Co. ahead of T20 WC opener vs India

Team India completed their two warm-up games ahead of the main draw of the T20 World Cup 2021 with emphatic performances. Virat Kohli-led India beat England by 7 wickets before they demolished Australia by 9 wickets to tick several boxes and will now gear up for their tournament-opener, versus Pakistan, on October 24 (Sunday).

India and Pakistan will be locking horns with each other on the 22-yard cricket strip after a gap of two years. The last face-off between the two arch-rivals took place during the 2019 ODI World Cup, in England and Wales, when Kohli & Co. thrashed Sarfaraz Ahmed-led Pakistan by 89 runs (DLS method). Since both sides meet only during ICC or multi-nation tournaments, the excitement is on another level before the upcoming face-off.

Ahead of the clash, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan named his playing XI for India for the Pakistan clash, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday (October 24). Speaking on Star Sports, Pathan named KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma as his openers whereas Captain Kohli will be batting at No. 3 (as he mentioned at the coin toss during the England warm-up tie).

Pathan's middle and lower-order comprised Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja whereas the 36-year-old went ahead with Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami as his pacers. His spin department comprises Varun Chakravarthy and Jadeja as he had no space for R Ashwin and in-form fast-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur.

Interestingly, Ishan Kishan -- who smashed a 46-ball 70 (retired hurt) in the first warm-up encounter -- also misses out from Pathan's XI.

Former South Africa speedster Dale Steyn and VVS Laxman, former India Test specialist, were asked to come forward with their respective XIs for Team India for the Pakistan face-off. While Steyn just made one change from Laxman's XI, he also named India's gamechanger. Speaking on Star Sports, Steyn said, "I wouldn't have been able to name it as perfectly as VVS but one change, I would bring in Shami ahead of Bhuvi, just on current form alone. Shami has been doing it quite nicely. Bhuvi is fantastic but on current form I would go with Shami in this side."

"Look, he's a game-changer. That's the big thing. He is a gamechanger whether he’s got bat or ball in his hand, specifically with that bat actually. He hasn't bowled a lot lately, at all to be honest. I would pick him purely on his batting alone. After the current form that he has had, it's a bit touch and go but he is a fantastic player. And teams will know that. So, when he comes out to bat, teams would have to prepare accordingly because Hardik Pandya can take the game away from you quite easily with the bat," the former speedster-turned-commentator added.

Dhoni has been roped in as a mentor for Team India for the marquee tournament, in order to help Virat Kohli & Co. break their 8-year-old ICC-title drought and win their second title in the T20 WC history. It was under Dhoni when India won the inaugural edition, in 2007, in South Africa. Since then, the Men in Blue came close in the 2014 edition but ended as runners-up whereas the last edition saw them bow out in the semi-finals.

Talking about Pant, the swashbuckling left-hander was in good touch in the first warm-up fixture, between India and England, as his cameo (14-ball 29*) helped Kohli & Co. beat England by 7 wickets. His form in the middle and lower-order will be crucial for India in the tournament.

I’ll say it now, I don’t give Australia much chance. In T20 cricket they’ve struggled. Glenn Maxwell’s exceptional so he will have to have an incredible tournament. But I don’t see the Aussies doing too much. England, India, West Indies, New Zealand, one of those four and maybe Pakistan because of the conditions."

“The pitches will be interesting because they’ve been used and slow [during the Indian Premier League]. I think 150-160 might be defendable scores,” Vaughan added.

For the unversed, India are placed in Pool B along with Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan whereas two more teams will join from the qualifiers. Before the main draw of the showpiece event, former England captain Michael Vaughan has made a big claim on Virat Kohli-led Team India. While many former cricketers and experts of the gentlemen's game feel India are one of the favourites for the seventh edition of the T20 WC, Vaughan begs to differ. "England for me are the favourites. I don’t know how India get the “favourites” tag in T20 cricket. I just think they’ve been a long way off in the last few tournaments,’ Vaughan told BBC Test Match Special. Don’t know how India get favourites tag, says Michael Vaughan ahead of Virat Kohli & Co.'s Pakistan tie

India will take on Aaron Finch-led Australia in their second and final warm-up encounter before the main draw of the T20 World Cup 2021 kicks off, in the UAE. This will also be the last chance for Finch & Co. to eradicate their flaws and finalise their team combination prior to the mega event.

Talking about the Men in Blue, the Virat Kohli-led side thrashed England by 7 wickets in their first warm-up encounter, at the ICC Academy Ground, Dubai on Monday evening (October 18). Opting to bowl first, India managed to keep England below the 200-run mark on a batting surface as the 2016 runners-up and one-time champions posted 188-5. In reply, India completed the run-chase with an over to spare, courtesy KL Rahul's 24-ball 51, Ishan Kishan's 46-ball 70* (retired hurt) and Rishabh Pant's 14-ball 29*.

There were plenty of positives for India as Jasprit Bumrah and R Ashwin were impressive with the ball whereas Mohammed Shami conceded 40 runs but also picked up three scalps. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rahul Chahar went for plenty, which is a cause of concern.

In the batting department, Rahul-Ishan made heads turn with their free-flowing approach whereas India will like Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya to get some more time in the middle. Rohit Sharma is also expected to play versus Australia.

For Australia, their batters such as Finch, Mitchell Marsh, Steve Smith, etc. got starts -- in their narrow win over New Zealand by 3 wickets -- but David Warner's woeful form remains a huge concern. In the bowling department, the likes of Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson did a reasonable job and Mitchell Starc was economical. The onus will be on Josh Hazlewood and Glenn Maxwell in their last warm-up game.

Match prediction for IND vs AUS warm-up game: As a lot will depend on how both sides use their players in the XI, it is tough to predict a winner. However, India are ahead of Australia in terms of their power-hitting and, hence, will start as favourites. Expect a 170-plus game with the chasing side to emerge on top.

Team India thrashed England by seven wickets in their first warm-up match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 on Monday (October 18) to find some momentum ahead of the start of their campaign in the showpiece event. India comfortably chased down the target of 189 runs with the help of half-centuries from KL Rahul (51) and Ishan Kishan (70) to bag a comprehensive win.

With Kishan doing well as an opener ahead of the start of India's campaign, the left-hander might pose some selection headaches for captain Virat Kohli and the team management. However, Kohli on Monday confirmed that Rahul will open the batting for the Men in Blue alongside senior opener Rohit Sharma. Opening up on the team's opening combination ahead of the start of their campaign in the tournament, Kohli said it was difficult to look beyond Rahul at present.

"Things were different before IPL, now it's difficult to look beyond KL Rahul. He's been solid upfront. I will be batting at 3. That's the only thing I can say for now," said Kohli during toss ahead of the warm-up game against England.

Talking about the warm-up game between India and England, the Jos Buttler-led side posted a strong total of 188 runs batting first at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai with the help of Jonny Bairstow's 49 off 36 balls and Moeen Ali's quickfire 20-ball 43.

In reply, India were off to a flyer as Rahul and Kishan shared an 82-run stand for the first wicket and set the stage for a comprehensive win for the Men in Blue. While Rahul dashed his way to 51 off just 24 balls, Kishan too went all guns blazing in his 46-ball 70 laced with seven fours and three sixes.

Rishabh Pant then cracked an unbeaten 29 off just 14 balls and combined with Hardik Pandya (10) to take India over the line comfortably in the run-chase. India will now take on Australia in their second warm-up match on October 20 before opening their T20 World Cup 2021 campaign against Pakistan on October 24.

England skipper Eoin Morgan said that he is ready to get himself dropped from England`s playing XI of ICC Men`s T20 World Cup if his poor form continues. Morgan has just come back after captaining the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and taking them to the finals of the tournament. Morgan has been really short of T20 runs this year with an average of 16.63 with the highest score of 47 not out from 35 innings.

"It`s always something I`ve said - it`s always an option. I`m not going to stand in the way of a team winning the World Cup. I`ve been short of runs but my captaincy has been pretty good, as it goes. So, yes is the answer," said Morgan, as reported by ESPNcricinfo."Not being a bowler and being a bit older and not contributing as much in the field, I`ve loved the role of captain. You get two bites at the cherry impacting the game. As regards my batting, I wouldn`t be standing here if I hadn`t come out of every bad run of form that I`d ever had," he added.

England are the reigning 50-over world champions and go into the T20 World Cup looking to become the first team to hold both trophies at the same time. "I think it`ll be unbelievably special if we manage to do it. I think that the group of players that we`ve had together for the last five or six years, alongside some new, really talented and young guys coming through, who have really made a name for themselves, makes the composition of the squad extremely strong," said Morgan. "We`re always trying to push the limits, we`re always trying to get better as a side, and since 2019 our cricket has been as consistent as ever, I think, in the T20 format which is extremely difficult to do when there`s been chopping and changing the whole time," he added. England will be clashing with West Indies on October 23 in their first match of the Men`s T20 World Cup.
