Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has slammed a Pakistan news channel for taking him off-air after his verbal spat with host Dr Nauman Niaz during a live show earlier this week. He added, "Before that me and Shoaib Akhtar, we both work for media, I support my team, he supports his team which is fair enough. Banter between me and him has been going on for many years. In that another person came in between, Mohammad Amir. I want to know who he is. Because me and Shoaib have a very old friendship. We know each other for many years. We have done shows together too."
Australia and Sri Lanka will lock horns with each other in match 22 of the T20 World Cup 2021 edition, on Thursday evening (October 28). The match will be played at the iconic Dubai International Cricket Stadium as both sides will look to make it two wins in a row after their hard-fought victories in their respective Super 12 opening games.

While Aaron Finch-led Australia restricted South Africa for a paltry 118-9 in 20 overs, with Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood chipping in with two wickets apiece, their batters got starts but lost wickets at regular intervals in their run-chase versus the Proteas. Steve Smith's 35 and other vital contributions from Marcus Stoinis and Matthew Wade completed the run-chase for the Men in Yellow, with 5 wickets in hand in the final over.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, had a tough encounter versus Bangladesh on Sunday afternoon (October 24) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah. While their bowlers did err with their line and lengths as the Bangla Tigers posted 171-4, Charith Asalanka's 80 not out and Bhanuka Rajapaksa's 53 took the Lankans to an emphatic 5-wicket win, despite being at 79-4 at one stage.

Match prediction for Australia-Sri Lanka T20 WC encounter: The pitch at Dubai has something for the pacers, spinners as well as the batters. Expect a good and intense game, with scores being around 160-175. It is tough to predict a winner as both sides have had equal success versus each other (8-8 in head-to-head tally) but Aussies lead the Islanders 2-1 in T20 WC history. In South Africa's second encounter in the Super 12 round of the T20 World Cup, versus West Indies, Quinton de Kock's absence raised quite a few eyebrows after the Cricket South Africa (CSA) asked the players to take a unified stance in support of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement. While all the players took the knee, de Kock's absence made heads turn. With many teams taking a stance in the support of the BLM movement, in order to educate one and all to end the ill-practice of racism worldwide, the wicketkeeper-batsman's whereabouts surely hogged the headlines. After facing backlash and severe criticism, De Kock has finally responded to the controversy. The swashbuckling left-hander has issued an apology and spoke at length about the whole matter in an official statement. ALSO READ | Zimbabwe's Pommie Mbangwa criticises Quinton de Kock for refusing to take knee, says 'I cannot shed my skin' Here's QDK's statement: "I would like to start by saying sorry to my teammates, and the fans back home. I never ever wanted to make this a Quinton issue. I understand the importance of standing against racism, and I also understand the responsibility of us as players to set an example. "If me taking a knee helps to educate others, and makes the lives of others better, I am more than happy to do so. I did not, in any way, mean to disrespect anyone by not playing against West Indies, especially the West Indian team themselves. Maybe some people don't understand that we were just hit with this on Tuesday morning, on the way to a game. "I am deeply sorry for all the hurt, confusion and anger that I have caused. I was quiet on this very important issue until now. But I feel I have to explain myself a little bit. For those who don't know, I come from a mixed race family. My half-sisters are Coloured and my step mom is Black. For me, Black lives have mattered since I was born. Not just because there was an international movement. "The rights and equality of all people is more important than any individual. I was raised to understand that we all have rights, and they are important. I felt like my rights were taken away when I was told what we had to do in the way that we were told. "Since our chat with the board last night, which was very emotional, I think we all have a better understanding of their intentions as well. I wish this had happened sooner, because what happened on match day could have been avoided. "I know I have an example to set. We were previously told we had the choice to do what we felt we wanted to do. I chose to keep my thoughts to myself, and thought of the pride of playing for my family and my country. "I didn't understand why I had to prove it with a gesture, when I live and learn and love people from all walks of life every day. When you are told what to do, with no discussion, I felt like it takes away the meaning. If I was racist, I could easily have taken the knee and lied, which is wrong and doesn't build a better society. "Those who have grown up with me and played with me, know what type of person I am. I've been called a lot of things as a cricketer. Doff [dim]. Stupid. Selfish. Immature. But those didn't hurt. Being called a racist because of a misunderstanding hurts me deeply. "It hurts my family. It hurts my pregnant wife. I am not a racist. In my heart of hearts, I know that. And I think those who know me know that. I know I'm not great with words, but I've tried my best to explain how truly sorry I am for making like this is about me. "It is not. I won't lie, I was shocked that we were told on the way to an important match that there was an instruction that we had to follow, with a perceived 'or else.' I don't think I was the only one. "We had camps. We had sessions. We had zoom meetings. We know where we all stand. And that is together. I love every one of my teammates, and I love nothing more than playing cricket for South Africa. I think it would of been better for everyone concerned if we had sorted this out before the tournament started. "Then we could have focused on our job, to win cricket matches for our country. There always seems to be a drama when we go to World Cups. That isn't fair. I just want to thank my teammates for their support, especially my captain, Temba. People might not recognise, but he is a flipping amazing leader. "If he and the team, and South Africa, will have me, I would love nothing more than to play cricket for my country again." They will next face Sri Lanka in Sharjah on Saturday. Following QDK's statement, he is expected to return to the Proteas' XI and take a knee as well.

T20 World Cup: SA star Quinton de Kock apologises for BLM row, pledges to take the knee

India and Pakistan met each other for the first time, across formats, in over two years when they locked horns in match 4 of the Super 12 round, in the T20 World Cup 2021 edition in the UAE. The stakes were high for Babar Azam-led Pakistan as the Men in Green were trailing 12-0 in head-to-head versus Team India in World Cups (both ODIs and T20Is).

However, Pakistan produced a clinical performance to stun Virat Kohli-led India by ten wickets and register their maiden win over the Men in Blue in the WC history. Following the clash, things have gone out of control between some Indian and Pakistani cricketers on social media platform Twitter.

While Shoaib Akhtar-Harbhajan Singh were constantly sledging each other and were engaged in fun banters, Mohammed Amir tried to poke fun at Bhajji. Nonetheless, the matter soon escalated and things have gone out of control between the wily off-spinner and Pakistan's former speedster. Here's how the whole episode panned out:

Amir tried to get cheeky and wrote, "hello everyone woh pochna yeah tha @harbhajan_singh paa ji ne TV to ni tora apna koi ni hota hai end of the day its a game of cricket (wanted to ask if Harbhajan Singh didn't break his television, as, at the end of the day, it is a game of cricket."

To this, Bhajji replied by saying, "Ab Tum bi bologe @iamamirofficial yeh 6 ki landing tumhare ghar k tv par to nahi hui thi ?? Koi nahi hota hai end of the day it’s a game of cricket as u rightly said." (Now you will claim that this six also resulted in the ball landing on the tv sets at your house. Don't lost hope, end of the day it's a game as u rightly said).

Amir came back with another cheeky reply, "me busy tha @harbhajan_singh apki bowling dekh raha tha test jab LaLA ne apko 4 bowls pe 4 sixes mare thay but cricket hai lag sakte but test cricket me thora ziada ho gia tha (I was busy looking at your bowling where Shahid Afridi took you on and slammed four successive sixes in a Test match. I know it is cricket, but being hit for four sixes in Test cricket is a bit too much.)"

Harbhajan didn't stop and posted a glaring tweet in return. He reminded Amir of his fixing saga and said, "Lords mai no ball kaise ho gya tha ?? Kitna liya kisne diya ? Test cricket hai no ball kaise ho sakta hai ? Shame on u and ur other supporters for disgracing this beautiful game." (How did you bowl a no-ball in the 2010 Lord's Test. How much money did you take? How can one bowl a no-ball in Tests?)

Amir didn't hold back and once again tried to get under the skin of Bhajji with a sarcastic reply. The Indian spinner then retorted by saying, "For people like you @iamamirofficial only Paisa paisa paisa paisa .. na izzat na kuch aur sirf paisa..bataoge nahi apne desh walo ko aur supporters ko k kitna mila tha .. get lost I feel yuk talking to people like you for insulting this game and making people fool with ur acts. (For people like you, money is all that matters. No respect but only money. Tell your countrymen how much did you take for the intentional no-ball)."

In the end, the 40-year-old Harbhajan once again shared the video of him hitting Amir for a match-winning six and captioned it, “Fixer ko sixer.. out of the park @iamamirofficial chal daffa ho ja”. Responding to the video, Amir tweeted: “chal bhai me tu laga sone, u sit and do some icing on ur pichwara trust me u'll in ur senses. GOOD NIGHT." (I'm off to bed, you carry on applying some ice on your back. GOOD NIGHT).

Virat Kohli-led India locked horns with arch-rivals Pakistan in their tournament-opener in the T20 World Cup 2021 edition's Super 12 round, on Sunday evening (October 24), at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. Going into the clash with a 12-match winning streak over the Men in Green in World Cup history (including ODIs and T20Is), the Men in Blue were expected to romp past Babar Azam-led Pakistan, however, they lost by ten wickets.

Being asked to bat first, India posted a respectable 151-7. However, the total was below-par as Pakistan chased it down without losing a single wicket, courtesy openers Babar (68 not out) and Mohammad Rizwan (79*). From India, only Kohli stood tall with the bat and made a vital 57.

Ahead of the 2007 winners' next game, versus Kane Williamson-led New Zealand, former all-rounder Yusuf Pathan has an important message for fans and feels India still have it in them to win the showpiece event, in the UAE.

We have lost our first game versus Pakistan in 29 years (in WC history). These are our top 15 players, we need to back them relentlessly. We play as a team and as a country, we should take a stand for Team India players. This should be our attitude. In their tough times, we need to be with them as they give us plenty of joy from time to time."

"I don't think it will be difficult for India to bounce back as our players have been playing good cricket. All the India players are hardworking and they know how to handle pressure. We all should keep supporting the team and the players will definitely do well. We are not out of the tournament after one loss.
In match 20 of the T20 World Cup 2021 edition, being held in the UAE, the 2016 runners-up Eoin Morgan-led England will face the Mahmudullah-led Bangladesh cricket team in what promises to be another rollicking encounter in the Super 12 round.

England are coming into this encounter on the back of a solid opening match, where they mauled Kieron Pollard-led West Indies by 6 wickets after Adil Rashid's 4 for 2 bundled out the defending champions for a paltry 55 all-out; third-lowest total in T20 WC history. While England were 39-4, they managed to end the game with 6 wickets in hand and have a favourable NRR at the moment as well.

On the other hand, Bangladesh did post a challenging 171-4 versus Dasun Shanaka-led Sri Lanka at Sharjah on Sunday (October 24).
Shoaib Akhtar got involved in a controversy during the T20 World Cup 2021 edition's face-off between Pakistan and New Zealand, at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah on Tuesday evening (October 26). Being a part of a panel discussion on PTV News, hosted by Nauman Niaz, the Rawalpindi Express was asked to leave by the popular Pakistani journalist; leaving the other panellists -- such as Vivian Richards, Sana Mir, etc. -- in a state of shock.

Akhtar was speaking about the intense clash, where Kiwis struggled and were restricted to 134-8 to lose the contest by 5 wickets to Babar Azam-led Men in Green. The former cricketer's way of putting forward his views were labelled as 'rude' by Niaz, who asked him to leave and 'feel free to go' if he wants to. The video of the discussion has gone viral in no time on social media platforms. Here's the video:

Here's the video: Dr Nauman Niaz vs Shoaib Akhtar . .
On Tuesday (October 26), the T20 World Cup 2021 edition will see a doubleheader as South Africa will lock horns with West Indies at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai in what will be the first game of the day. This will be followed by Pakistan's much-awaited face-off with New Zealand in the evening clash, at the Sharjah Cricket Ground, Sharjah.

Both South Africa and West Indies started their Super 12 round with defeats. While Temba Bavuma-led Proteas lost to Australia in an intense clash, in the last over, by 5 wickets, the defending champions Windies were thrashed by Eoin Morgan-led England by 6 wickets as they succumbed to the third-lowest total in T20 WC history after being 55 all-out.

While both sides are entering the contest on the back of defeats, they shouldn't be too worried as it is still the early stage of the tournament. The Windies, however, will be desperate to notch up a win as they have lost three matches in a row, including the two warm-up encounters. They can still draw some inspiration from the fact that they reduced England to 39/4 in defence of a paltry 56 in their opening game.

In head-to-head, Proteas lead the Windies 9-6 whereas they are also ahead in T20 WC with a 2-1 lead.

Match prediction for SA vs WI encounter: The Dubai surface will continue to challenge all the teams in the tournament. The batsmen will have to take some time initially in order to take on the bowlers. A par-score in Dubai is tough to predict but anything over 150-160 will challenge the chasing side. It will be interesting to see if the dew factor comes into play or not. SA to add to WI's miseries by earning their first win of the tournament?

New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson has been ruled out of the ongoing ICC Men`s T20 World Cup in the UAE with a calf tear. New Zealand Cricket (NZC) in a release stated "Ferguson felt tightness in his right calf following training last night (Tuesday) and a subsequent MRI scan on game-day revealed a grade two tear which would require three to four weeks recovery."

With the Blackcaps set to play five pool games over the next 13 days, coach Gary Stead said they had no option but to rule Ferguson out of the tournament."It`s a real shame for Lockie to have this happen on the eve of the tournament and the entire team is really feeling for him right now," Stead said.

"He`s a massive part of our T20 side and has been in such good form - so to lose him at this time is a blow. However, we are fortunate to have a like for like replacement in the form of Adam who has been with the squad training for the past two weeks."

Stead indicated Ferguson would be replaced in the 15-player tournament squad by Adam Milne subject to approval by the ICC Technical Committee.
England cannot afford to make mistakes in their Twenty20 World Cup campaign with a potentially tricky clash against Bangladesh in Super 12 stage, wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler said on Tuesday ahead of the first T20 meeting between the two sides.

England, top of Group I, are looking to build on their victory over defending champions West Indies in the opener, while Bangladesh are second-bottom after losing to Sri Lanka. "Winning momentum is vital. The way the tournament is set out, there`s not much room for mistakes," Buttler told reporters. "We can take lots of confidence from the first game, it`s fantastic to get a win on the board.

"Bangladesh are a strong team... they`re a dangerous side. They have some really experienced players in the team and we`re expecting a tough challenge. Obviously we try and plan for the opposition but at the same time we`re focusing on ourselves and get our level of intensity to the place it needs to be. We feel confident as a group when we get that right and... that`s going to give us the best chance for success."

Bangladesh fast bowling coach Ottis Gibson said the team remain calm and bring their A game against a "very powerful" England side for Wednesday`s match in Dubai. Gibson, who previously worked with England from 2007-10 and 2015-17, said Bangladesh had a tough qualification route but they are confident of beating strong teams at the world showpiece event.

"We know that England have a very powerful lineup and we know that we have to be on our A game if we`re going to really challenge them and ultimately win the game," Gibson said. "I've spoken to our bowlers and our batsmen... The message is not to panic, understand that you are going to get hit. You might bowl a good ball and get hit because that`s their mentality, but they also give you opportunities to take wickets. We must try and execute our skills plans. And when those opportunities come, we must take those opportunities."

Waqar Younis makes heads turn with SHOCKING remark after Indo-Pak T20 WC tie Bangladesh fast bowling coach Ottis Gibson said the team remain calm and bring their A game against a "very powerful" England side for Wednesday`s match in Dubai.

CSA orders South Africa players to take knee at T20 WC after Quinton de Kock pulls out of Windies clash

India and Pakistan met each other in the 4th match of the Super 12 round in the T20 World Cup 2021 edition, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on Sunday evening (October 24). Virat Kohli-led India were favourites as the Men in Blue had a 12-0 lead over their arch-rivals Pakistan in World Cup history, including both ODIs and T20Is.

However, Babar Azam-led Pakistan stunned the Indian team as they produced a clinical performance with both bat and ball to win by 10 wickets, with 13 balls to spare. Thus, the one-time winners Pakistan not only started their T20 WC 2021 campaign in style, but they also ended their winless streak versus India in WC history. Shaheen Afridi, Babar, Haris Rauf and Mohammad Rizwan were the heroes for Pakistan in their flawless performance versus Kohli & Co.

After the match, former Pakistan speedster and bowling coach Waqar Younis made heads turn by making a shocking statement. Speaking to a ARY News, Waqar told what impressed him the most in the Indo-Pak clash. "Sabse ache baat jo Rizwan ne ki. Usne ground mein khade hoke Naamaz padhe, hinduon ke beech mein....So that was really something very very special for me. (What I liked the most is what Rizwan did. He stood in the middle of the ground and read the prayers, in front of the Hindus)."

Following Waqar's remark, even Shoaib Akhtar -- who was a part of the panel discussion -- and the news anchor were left embarrassed.

India and Pakistan met each other in the 4th match of the Super 12 round in the T20 World Cup 2021 edition, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on Sunday evening (October 24).

He stood in the middle of the ground and read the prayers, in front of the Hindus)." ALSO READ | Pakistan star Md.
