Match 37 of the IPL 2021 edition will see two struggling sides in the form of KL Rahul-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) face each other, in a bid to move ahead from the bottom two positions. Time is running for both the franchises as the tournament is swiftly progressing towards the business end.

Talking about the PBKS franchise, the Punjab unit have found ways to surrender the momentum from winning positions and, hence, are struggling at the seventh position -- with 3 wins from 9 games. On the other hand, chaos is of another level in the SRH camp. After a change in leadership during the first leg, there have been many players who are struggling to hold onto their spots and the situation is far from ideal in the one-time winners' camp.

Both sides won two games apiece, out of three at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah, during IPL 2020. With both sides having plenty to ponder upon, it is tough to predict a winner.

PBKS vs SRH today match prediction: The pitch at Sharjah is now a tricky one. It now has something for the bowlers as well, making it an even contest (like it should be). If the pitch favours the bowlers slightly more, being on the slower side, SRH will have an edge given their experience and wily bowlers. On the other hand, it will test the Hyderabad batsmen's ability to clear the ropes at regular intervals if the surface aids the batters. The likes of KL Rahul, Chris Gayle (if he plays), Mayank Agarwal, Nicholas Pooran will flex their muscles to overpower SRH.

The main deciding factor, however, will be who will eventually manage to hold their nerves? Will PBKS continue to surrender the momentum after dominating most parts? SRH might be down at the moment, but their experienced international recruits won't allow the franchise to squander end moments like PBKS often does.

PBKS vs SRH, IPL 2021 prediction today: Who will win Punjab Kings vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match?

Two bottom-lying and struggling sides in the form of KL Rahul-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) and eighth-ranked Kane Williamson's Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will face each other in match 37 of the IPL 2021 edition, in the UAE, on Saturday (September 25).

This will be the evening game and will be held at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah. While the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were off to a great start versus Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday evening, they managed only 156-6 versus the Yellow Army on the same ground. The pitch is expected to favour the batsmen, but bowlers now have a much larger say than the case was when Sharjah was deemed to be a bowlers' graveyard during the initial phase of IPL 2020.

Variations, slower ones and bowling cleverly towards the longer side of the boundaries can benefit bowlers.. Hence, it will be interesting to see how SRH and PBKS bowlers step up to the challenge. The pitch also had turn on offer during the CSK vs RCB encounter. If the same remains, PBKS-SRH clash will come down to the bowlers. On the contrary, since it is only the second game at the venue in the ongoing UAE leg, batsmen will still have a chance to flex their muscles and make merry of the smaller dimensions of the ground. A 175-180 score on cards?

All in all, run-scoring will continue but it won't be a cakewalk as well.

Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis will undergo a scan later on Thursday after pulling up with a hamstring issue during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match, the injury coming just weeks before the start of the Twenty20 World Cup.

Stoinis has been named in Australia`s 15-man squad for the October-November World Cup after missing tours of the West Indies and Bangladesh and is expected to play a key role.

The 32-year-old pulled up after bowling his seventh ball of the game for Delhi Capitals against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday, his team`s first match following the resumption of the tournament in Dubai after a break enforced by rising COVID-19 cases in India.

Stoinis did not play any further part in the match, which Delhi won by eight wickets to the top of the table. Delhi had initially said Stoinis suffered a calf injury but cricket.com.au reported it was a left hamstring strain. A Delhi spokesperson told Reuters on Thursday that Stoinis would go for a scan to determine the extent of the injury later in the day.

The IPL match on Wednesday had gone ahead despite Hyderabad seamer T. Natarajan testing positive for COVID-19 hours before the contest.

IPL 2021: Australia's Marcus Stoinis suffers hamstring injury during DC's 8-wicket win over SRH

Former India opener Virender Sehwag aimed a hilarious dig at the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) after their poor batting show against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 on Wednesday. Delhi Capitals regained their top spot on the points table after a convincing 8-wicket win at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.

It was a disappointing batting show from Sunrisers Hyderabad, who were restricted on a paltry 134/9 in 20 overs as DC pacers ran riot in the game. Opting to bat first, SRH got off to the worst possible start losing opener David Warner on a duck before the likes of Kane Williamson (18) and Manish Pandey (17) were also sent back cheaply.

Anrich Nortje breathed fire with the ball, finishing with stunning figures of 12/2 in his four overs while Kagiso Rabada picked up a three-wicket haul. Reacting to SRH's abysmal show with the bat, Sehwag, who is known for his witty remarks, came up with a dig at Williamson & Co.

In a video shared on his Facebook page, Sehwag said the SRH batsmen should 'eat food' if hungry and not consume balls in the middle. "Is ball something to eat that too in T20? Don't eat the ball. If you are hungry, eat food." Sehwag said in the video.

He went on to add that even the ball would have been pleading to be hit by the SRH batsmen, who showcased no intent during their innings in Dubai.

"As Harshad Mehta had said be it market or cricket the biggest risk is not taking any risk. But Hyderabad was playing so sluggishly that even the ball would have said this to them in agony - 'Maro mujhe...maaro mujhe [please hit me]," Sehwag added.

After restricting SRH on a low-key total of 134 runs, Delhi Capitals chased down the target comfortably with 13 balls to spare. Shreyas Iyer slammed an unbeaten 47 off 41 balls on his return from injury while captain Rishabh Pant scored an unbeaten 35 to help DC claim the top spot on the table with their seventh win of the season.

Delhi Capitals will be looking to continue their winning run and become the first team to seal a spot in the playoffs when they take on Rajasthan Royals in their next game on September 25 (Saturday).

'Even ball would have said kill me': Virender Sehwag takes a dig at SRH for poor show against DC

Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) had a perfect start to the second and final leg of IPL 2021, with a comprehensive 8-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on Wednesday evening (September 22).

While the likes of Pant, Anrich Nortje, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer performed well, R Ashwin returned wicketless in 2.5 overs, conceding only 22 runs. Given that Ashwin has returned to India's T20I setup after a long break, for the upcoming T20 World Cup, all eyes were on him to make a mark. However, the veteran off-spinner didn't give away a lot of runs but returned without any breakthrough, which didn't impress former Indian opener-turned-commentator Virender Sehwag.

Sehwag said on Cricbuzz Live, "Ravichandran Ashwin has a mindset that if he bowls off-spin, anyone will hit him for a four or a six. Because of this fear, he resorts to experimentation. When MS Dhoni used to be behind the wickets, he never allowed Ashwin to experiment. Sometimes you need to make a bowler realize that no doubt a batsman may hit you for a six but it also gives you a chance to get him out."

"The way he was bowling, it gives him the least chance to dismiss a batsman. If he resorts to off-spin, then LBW, bowled comes into the equation. Yes, he was economical but as a senior bowler, he should give breakthroughs in the middle overs," Sehwag further explained.

Thus, Sehwag feels Ashwin is not fully confident in bowling off-spin due to the fear of being hit. It will be interesting to see how the 34-year-old goes ahead with the ball in hand in the upcoming encounters for the table-toppers DC franchise.

'MS Dhoni didn't allow R Ashwin...' - Virender Sehwag on DC spinner's knack of experimenting with the ball after SRH tie

Match 33 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 edition will see the hot favourites and second-positioned Delhi Capitals (DC) take on the bottom-lying Kane Williamson-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on Wednesday evening (September 22).

The match will give the Rishabh Pant-led DC franchise another chance to reclaim the top spot after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) became the top-ranked side following their win over Mumbai Indians (MI) on September 19 (Sunday). For the SRH camp, they need to start afresh after a horrible run in the first leg of the season which saw them win only one game from seven encounters.

DC have been bolstered by the return of their regular captain Shreyas Iyer. Though Iyer won't be captaining the side with Pant named skipper for the remainder of the season after a dream start, the presence of Iyer, R Ashwin, Shikhar Dhawan, Axar Patel, Marcus Stoinis, Kagiso Rabada, etc. make DC the firm favourites before the SRH tie. IPL 2021, DC vs SRH, Live Streaming: When and where to watch Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad?

Delhi Capitals rode on a brilliant fast bowling performance from their South African duo Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada to pulverise wooden spooners Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets as they took a giant leap towards Indian Premier League play-offs on Wednesday.

Capitals produced top-notch performance in their first match of the second phase of this year's IPL to eke out the easy win in 17.5 overs in their pursuit of a modest 135-run target.

It was only possible after fast furious Nortje bowled at 150 clicks to finish with 2 for 12 and was ably supported Rabada (3/37) and Axar Patel (2/21) in a brilliant bowling effort.

Last edition's runners-up are now well and truly in contention for clinching a play-off berth with 14 points from nine games while SRH with two points are all but out of the competition.

DC started their chase on an aggressive note with Shikhar Dhawan and young Prithvi Shaw (11 off 8) adding 20 runs in 17 balls before the latter was caught by Kane Williamson off the bowlng of Khaleel Ahmed as the batsman went for an extravagant shot over mid-wicket.

Orange Cap Dhawan was unperturbed as he continued his attacking batting and slog swept Rashid Khan over deep midwicket for a maximum in the Afghan spinner's first over.

While SRH batsmen struggled, Dhawan made batting look easy on the wicket as he then pulled a Jason Holder delivery on to the square leg fence.

Swing bowler Sandeep Sharma was then taken to task by Dhawan as he hit the medium pacer for back-to-back boundaries in the 10th over take DC to 69 for one.

But Dhawan paid the price for being too aggressive when he was holed out by Abdul Samad off the bowling of Rashid as the left-hander went for a slog sweep over deep square leg in search of a six.

Dhawan's runs came off 37 balls and was laced with six boundaries and one hit over the fence.

Shreyas Iyer (47 not out off 41), who played the second fiddle when Dhawan was around, then took the onus on himself and upped the ante, hitting Sandeep Sharma for two consecutive fours in the 14th over.

Iyer continued to bat freely and in the company of skipper Rishabh Pant (35 off 21) took DC home with 13 balls to spare.

While Khaleel Ahmed extracted some pace and bounce from the track, none other SRH bowlers managed to trouble the DC batsmen as Iyer and Pant batted with consummate ease.

Iyer hit two fours and as many sixes during his knock, while Pant decorated his innings with three boundaries and two lofty hits over the fence.

Earlier, SRH put up a dismal batting performance to manage a meagre 134 for nine.

Nortje and Rabada were terrific with the ball as they extracted extra bounce and pace from the relatively low and slow wicket to dismantle SRH top-order.

The script didn't turn out as SRH wanted after opting to bat as they lost David Warner (0) in the third ball of the innings without any runs on the board.

Wriddhiman Saha (18) then added 29 runs with skipper Kane Williamson (18) before the former mistimed a pull to Shikhar Dawan at midwicket of the bowling off Kagiso Rabada.

Williamson and Manish Pandey then tried to build the innings, stitching 31 runs for the third wicket but SRH soon suffered a jolt when their skipper gave a simple catch to Shimron Hetmyer at long-off off the bowling of Axar Patel.

Pandey (18) followed suit and Kedar Jadhav (3) too didn't help his cause either.

Jason Holder (10) too turned out to be a big flop for SRH.

Damage already done, Abdul Samad (28 off 21, 2x4s, 1x6) tried his best to shore up the run-rate in company of Rashid Khan (22 off 19 balls) but he too departed in search of quick runs, top-edging a miss-timed pull to DC skipper Rishabh Pant off Rabada's bowling.

Rashid's knock was laced with the help of two fours and one six before being run out. Bhuvneshwar Kumar remained not out on 5 from 3 balls.

Rabada was the pick of the bowlers for DC with figures of 3 for 37, while Nortje (2/12) and Patel (2/32) picked up two wickets apiece.

Vijay Shankar reveals Sunrisers Hyderabad players' reaction after COVID-19 cases emerged

Shreevats Goswami has opened up on the captaincy change in the franchise, saying the previous captain David Warner was was not happy after being deprived of the captaincy. Nonetheless, as per Shreevats Goswami, David Warner acknowledged the shift following a couple of days.

SunRisers Hyderabad went through unrest both on and off the field in the now-suspended IPL 2021. They won only one of the seven games played, and David Warner – who has been their foundation for a very long time at this point – was replaced by Kane Williamson as the skipper after the sixth match. IPL 2021, SRH vs MI Preview - ‘Struggling’ Sunrisers Hyderabad lock horns with Mumbai Indians

Aakash Chopra has said that Kane Williamson taking over as Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper from David Warner has not achieved a prompt change in fortunes for the franchise.

Sunrisers Hyderabad delegated Williamson as their skipper for the rest of IPL 2021 ahead of their match against the Rajasthan Royals. In any case, the move didn't yield the ideal outcomes as the Orange Army went down to Rajasthan Royals by 55 runs.

While assessing the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals clash, Aakash Chopra brought up that changing the skipper didn't bring any luck to the IPL 2016 champions.

"The sun has set for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Their captain has changed but not their fortunes. They have won just one of their seven encounters. They changed the combination and played Nabi with Rashid," said Aakash Chopra.

The commentator said the fact that SRH got Mohammad Nabi as an all-rounder to the detriment of David Warner, he was not utilized successfully.

"But they didn't make him bowl at all and got very little batting as well because he came too low down. I mean it was as good as playing with three overseas players. Bhuvi was back but the form was missing for the other players," he Chopra.

Mohammad Nabi was given the ball just in the 15th over of the Rajasthan Royals innings and was taken for 21 runs around there. He was sent in to bat at No. 6, with the match nearly past Sunrisers Hyderabad's scope at that stage.

"I was a little surprised at Kane Williamson's bowling choices. He didn't give bowling to Nabi at all or gave just the one over, finished Rashid by the 11th over. I was slightly stunned," said Chopra.

"You had to finish the overs with Vijay Shankar at the end because the calculation had gone slightly wrong. You were waiting for a wicket to fall but that wicket did not fall," signed off Chopra.

The consolidated four overs bowled by Vijay Shankar and Mohammed Nabi for Sunrisers Hyderabad yielded 63 runs. The Rajasthan Royals batsmen pillaged 134 runs off the last nine overs, whenever they had seen off Rashid Khan's spell.

David Warner was dropped from the Sunrisers Hyderabad playing XI for their game against the Rajasthan Royals. The news comes only one day after Sunrisers Hyderabad the board declared Kane Williamson as their new captain, supplanting David Warner. Dale Steyn has reacted to SRH dropping David Warner from the playing XI.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have lost five out of their six games this season and the franchise felt a troublesome choice must be made concerning the team's leadership.

In any case, SRH Director of Cricket Tom Moody stunned everyone during his pre-match meet by saying that David Warner was dropped 'to have a better combination'.

As per Tom Moody, two overseas batsmen, an all-rounder, and the twist of Rashid Khan is the ideal mix for the team going ahead. Henceforth, David Warner has been supplanted by all-rounder Mohammad Nabi in the SRH playing XI.

While Jonny Bairstow is in splendid form, Kane Williamson is indispensable and Rashid Khan is a certifiable match-champ, he believes David Warner actually has a ton to offer SRH as a batsman.

Dale Steyn who has played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the past told ESPNCricinfo: “When you hear of Sunrisers I think of two players Rashid Khan and David Warner. But, I think in the past if you think you only think of David Warner straight up. He is Orange Army. So it’s very strange to not see him as a part of the XI. Something is going on there, I don’t know what is going on, but it is strange to not see him in the starting XI.”

“To give up the captaincy to Kane Williamson who is a great captain for New Zealand. He has done it many times before for Sunrisers, but you would still want him (Warner) in the XI. Warner is a destructive player; he is great in the field, great at giving advice and he is a phenomenal batsman.” – he said.

“Sometimes these captaincy things do happen you do often see getting it handed over to another captain, but to be completely omitted from the XI is a strange thing”.

“It seems like there is definitely something happening behind the closed doors and the public are not aware of. At the beginning of the season, they were all in it ‘Dave (Warner) is our boy’ he has been for many years and now they have gotten to a point where they are at the bottom of the table.”

“It is strange that he is not a part of the XI. Understandable if they want to maybe change ownership in terms of captaincy. I think this will be the last time we will see David Warner in an orange army shirt”. – he added.

Something is going on there, I don’t know what is going on, but it is strange to not see him in the starting XI.” “To give up the captaincy to Kane Williamson who is a great captain for New Zealand. He has done it many times before for Sunrisers, but you would still want him (Warner) in the XI. Warner is a destructive player; he is great in the field, great at giving advice and he is a phenomenal batsman.” – he said. ALSO READ: IPL 2021: 'Captain Warner was not in full control': Ajay Jadeja “Sometimes these captaincy things do happen you do often see getting it handed over to another captain, but to be completely omitted from the XI is a strange thing”. “It seems like there is definitely something happening behind the closed doors and the public are not aware of. At the beginning of the season, they were all in it ‘Dave (Warner) is our boy’ he has been for many years and now they have gotten to a point where they are at the bottom of the table.” “It is strange that he is not a part of the XI. Understandable if they want to maybe change ownership in terms of captaincy. I think this will be the last time we will see David Warner in an orange army shirt”. – he added.

IPL 2021: Netizens react after David Warner gets dropped against Rajasthan Royals

Ajay Jadeja trusts David Warner needed more say in team choices at Sunrisers Hyderabad and added that it was the group the board from outside who was settling on the significant choices.

Sunrisers Hyderabad caused a stir when they stripped David Warner of the captaincy halfway through IPL 2021 and delegated Kane Williamson as captain for the remainder of the period.

Ajay Jadeja implied that David Warner wasn't permitted to run his group in his own particular manner.

"It was evident that SRH is being controlled by someone from the outside – coach, management, whoever. But the captain Warner was not in full control. He himself stated that the selection of the final XI is not done by him so he does not have a complete say in it,” Ajay Jadeja.

SRH have had an inauspicious beginning to their mission, losing five out of their initial six games. It will take a monstrous turnaround from here onwards if the Hyderabad establishment needs to make the end-of-the-season games, as they presently sit absolute bottom in the focuses table.

Ajay Jadeja may have been incredulous of SRH's group the board yet recommended that Kane Williamson is head and shoulders above David Warner as commander. The previous India batsman said:

"Anyone who is following cricket for a period of time will tell you that between the two, Williamson is a better choice as captain. Warner is a great batsman and he has also led the Sunrisers to victory in the past but it is a no-brainer as to who is a better choice as skipper."

Warner drove the Sunrisers Hyderabad to their maiden IPL title in 2016, and the Hyderabad franchise has arisen as perhaps the most predictable sides from that point forward, making the playoffs every year in the last five seasons.

Notwithstanding, breaks have apparently framed inside the team, with the board choosing to mitigate David Warner of his captaincy obligations.

Besides, Sunrisers Hyderabad likewise indicated that the Australian opener probably won't make the playing XI for the side's forthcoming game against the Rajasthan Royals.

Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner thinks that the decision to drop Manish Pandey from the playing XI was a brutal call. Notwithstanding, he upheld the youngster Virat Singh and referred as a lack of experience on testing surfaces like those in Chennai.

In the three matches that Manish Pandey played, he scored 101 runs at 50.5 at a strike rate of 112.2. His replacement Virat Singh has overseen just 15 runs from two innings in IPL 2021.

Chasing 160 on a tough surface against Delhi Capitals, Kane Williamson discovered no help in the middle overs. Batting at No.9, Jagdeesha Suchith hammered an unbeaten six-ball 14 to help Kane Williamson and aided the Sunrisers Hyderabad to tie the game, yet the Delhi Capitals secured success in the Super Over.

Sunrisers Hyderabad's Kane Williamson piercingly said on Sunday that he's 'tired' of coming second in Super Overs.

Kane Williamson scored a stupendous 66 off 51 balls on a pitch where most Sunrisers Hyderabad batsmen neglected to arrive at twofold figures and took the team to an unlikely Super Over against Delhi Capitals. In any case, the 30-year-old failed to get his team over the line, and the team staggered to their fourth loss in IPL 2021.

This was Kane Williamson's fifth Super Over rout since 2019.

New Zealand have lost 4 tied outcomes since 2019 and Kane Williamson was essential for two of them. He played arguably the best brand of cricket in the 2019 World Cup yet lost the last because of the questionable, and now the disposed of boundary-count rule.

In the post-match press conference, Kane Williamson said he is simply tired of losing them.
