"Rohit Sharma with the Mumbai Indians has won five titles, while MS Dhoni has won four titles as captain in the IPL. But does it mean that Rohit Sharma is a better captain than Dhoni? No, it doesn't. Why? Because it's the win percentage over your whole career as a captain that's important. Because you need consistency within your team, and if you have that consistency, you have got a better chance of success at the back end, and MS Dhoni has had that," Hogg said on his YouTube channel.

IPL 2022: From injuries to national team commitments - Player availability for all teams

A lot of marquee players will be missing the start of the IPL 2022 edition. For the five-time champions Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI), they have still not attained the services of Suryakumar Yadav as the swashbuckling right-hander remains at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bengaluru.

For the unversed, Surya suffered a hairline fracture on his thumb on February 22 during Team India's third and final T20I versus West Indies. Since then, he has been out of action and working hard at the NCA to regain full fitness. Ahead of the IPL 2022 season-opener, Rohit Sharma addressed the media at a press conference and spilled the beans on SKY's availability ahead of MI's opening game, versus Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) on March 27 at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.

"Surya is at NCA at the moment, he is recovering well, he will be here soon. I can't give you his availability right now whether he will be available for the first game or not, but we are trying to get him here as soon as possible once we have the clearance from NCA," Rohit said at the press conference.

SKY has been a vital cog in MI's franchise for the last few years. He was one of the four players who were retained by the franchise prior to the mega auction. Surya crossed the 400-run mark in three successive seasons, from IPL 2018-2020. In addition, he returned with 317 runs in IPL 2021, at a strike rate of 143.43, to be MI's second-highest run-getter despite them missing the playoffs berth.

On his own workload, Rohit said, "I want to play all games, that’s why I am still here. I will play all games and try to make a difference in every game. If there is a concern, we will address it."

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma on the verge of achieving major milestone in IPL 2022

Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma on Friday (March 18) came up with a hilarious wish for his fans on the auspicious occasion of Holi. Holi is a festival of colours celebrated by Indians across the globe. Rohit shared a video on his social media handles where he can be seen taking several retakes while trying to shoot a video to wish the fans.

In the video, Rohit can be seen telling the videographer to shoot the footage from a certain angle while also having some fun banter with his wife Ritika Sajdeh. Rohit can also be seen telling the person shooting the video that he will have to re-edit the footage if the Mumbai Indians skipper doesn't like it.

Rohit then goes to gove several retakes as he tries to get his lines right for the video. Mumbai Indians shared the video of their skipper with a funny caption. "After 53261 takes, Ro wishes everyone a very Happy Holi," the five-time IPL champions captioned the post.

England pacer Jofra Archer was roped in by Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction last month for a big sum of Rs 8 crore (INR 80 million). Despite the BCCI having confirmed already that the fast bowler will not be available to play in the upcoming season, a number of teams expressed interest in acquiring his services at the auction.

Archer, who had initially pulled out of the IPL 2022 mega auction, enlisted himself later. Archer had undergone a second elbow operation in December last year and is currently recovering after his surgery. The injury setback was the reason behind his decision to not enter the IPL 2022 auction. However, he later put his name in the auction pool after the franchises were informed that he will be available to play from IPL 2023 and not the upcoming season this year.

While it is all but confirmed that he will not feature in IPL 2022, recent videos of the pacer have shown he has returned to training and has been bowling in full swing again. His on-track recovery has sparked speculations about whether Archer can make his comeback in IPL 2022 itself and pair up with the lethal Jasprit Bumrah for Mumbai Indians.

Archer himself responded to the question recently in an interview with Mumbai Indians. The England pacer said the fans should not get their hopes too high as he is not looking to play in the IPL this year as he would not like to rush his recovery despite having progressed faster than many had expected.

"As it stands, it was always going to be next year. I think I have progressed a bit faster than we all thought I would've. Which is still good, but it's still gonna be next year. I don't want to get anyone's hopes up too high. I don't wanna disappoint anyone. So, I am going to say next year," said Archer.

Archer's move to Mumbai Indians was one of the major talking points after the conclusion of the IPL 2022 mega auction as the England pacer is set to form a deadly duo with Bumrah, who is also one of the best fast bowlers in the world at present. The duo can together terrorise the best of batters in the league and make Mumbai Indians a dominant force as far as the bowling department is considered.

Archer has so far played 35 matches in his IPL career and has 46 wickets to his name. He made his IPL debut in 2018 for Rajasthan Royals and has since gone strength to strength in the league and his international career.

Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah enter camp as Mumbai Indian begin preparations for IPL 2022

Mumbai Indians (MI) have been handed a huge blow ahead of the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 as star batter Suryakumar Yadav is unlikely to be available for their tournament opener against Delhi Capitals (DC). Mumbai Indians will take on Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals in their first game of the season on March 27.

Suryakumar had suffered a hairline fracture on his thumb while playing for India during the T20I series against West Indies. He is unlikely to recover from it fully to feature in Mumbai Indians' first game against Delhi Capitals and will have to sit out for the clash.

Suryakumar is one of the vital cogs in the Mumbai Indians batting line-up and had been retained by the five-time champions ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. He is one of the most important batters for the franchise along with skipper Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Kieron Pollard.

Suryakumar is yet to join the Mumbai Indians squad which has started training in Mumbai and is currently undergoing his rehabilitation at the NCA in Bengaluru.

"Surya is currently at the NCA doing his rehabilitation. He is well on his way to recovery but there is a possibility that his participation in the opening game will be a real touch and go affair," a BCCI source was quoted as saying by PTI.

Jasprit Bumrah has grown in stature significantly with each passing year. He debuted in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2013 but hardly got regular appearances. In his first two seasons, Bumrah didn't play a massive role in Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians' (MI) campaign but slowly and steadily moved up the ladder, with good performances in domestic circuit and following his international debut in early 2016.

To date, Bumrah remains one of the most important players for the MI franchise. He has helped the Mumbai-based franchise win plenty of close encounters, and trophies, picking up 130 wickets in 106 matches at an impressive average of 23.03. Recently, in a conversation with R Ashwin on the wily spinner's Youtube channel, Bumrah spilled the beans on his relationship with Rohit and revealed how Hitman helped him in his growth.

Bumrah further added, "Now we have reached a stage he doesn't even tell me things. He will tell 'you set the field on your own, if you have any changes, tell me, I will do that'. He has had that trust because I have made things work. Somedays, things might not go well, but he always has kept the atmosphere in our team very simple and calm. Under him, I have got the freedom to do whatever I want. That has really helped me."

At present, Bumrah is India and MI's vital cog across formats. He is currently serving as Rohit's deputy in India's ongoing three-match T20I series versus Sri Lanka at home. Bumrah played his first-ever game in the shortest format post the 2021 T20 World Cup when India locked horns with Sri Lanka in the series opener in Lucknow on Thursday (February 24).

India and Sri Lanka meet each other in the second and penultimate T20I on Saturday evening (February 26) in Dharamshala.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday (February 25) announced a new format for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The tournament is all set to get underway from March 26 and will conclude on May 29. A total of 70 league matches will be played this season along with the playoffs.

The 70 league matches will be played across four venues in Mumbai and Pune to avoid air travelling in order to avoid the risk of the spread of COVID-19. Last year, IPL 2021 had to be suspended midway due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the camps of a number of teams before the second leg of the tournament was shifted to the UAE.

While IPL 2021 was played in the traditional format where each of the eights teams played each other twice in the league stage before moving to the playoffs based on their rankings in the points table, this year the scenario is completely different. The ten teams have been divided into two groups of five each.

The teams have been divided on the basis of the number of IPL titles won and finals played. Mumbai Indians, who have won the IPL five times are headlining Group A while Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who have won the IPL four times, are headlining Group B. With fans left perplexed about the schedule and the matches, here is an explainer about IPL's new format.

IPL 2022 new format explained: Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings headline two groups

India's star wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan said his heart skipped a beat when teams were involved in a bidding war for him at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction earlier this month. Kishan was the most expensive pick at the IPL 2022 auction after being bought back by Mumbai Indians (MI) for a whopping Rs 15.25 crore (INR 152.5 million).

Kishan became the second-most expensive Indian player of all time in the history of IPL auctions. The wicket-keeper batter has been impressive with the bat for Mumbai Indians in the IPL over the last few seasons and has reaped rewards for his brilliant performances for the team.

While many had expected Mumbai Indians to go all out to get him back at the auction, not a lot of people would have guessed that he could become the most expensive buy at the mega auction. As it turned out, Kishan drew bids from a number of teams but Mumbai Indians held on in the bidding war to eventually secure his signing ahead of the start of IPL 2022.

In an interview with the Times of India, Kishan said he knew Mumbai Indians would go for him but his heart skipped a beat when the price continued to rise. The wicket-keeper batter said Mumbai Indians needed money to build a good squad and it wasn't just about him at the mega auction.

“I knew MI would go for me. That wasn't the worrying bit. The worrying part was the rising price because MI needed to save on money to build the rest of the team. It wasn't just about me," said Kishan.

"For a minute there, I must admit, my heart skipped a beat. There's a reason why I wanted to come back to MI. They know me, they understand my game and I know my franchise and how it works. Because I've been part of this family, I was sure I didn't want to go anywhere else. I've been here four years and the bonding has been amazing. We've won two trophies, stood for each other and with each other, they know my cricket and I know they will take care of me. So, I didn't want to go anywhere else,” he added.

Kishan will be one of the key members of the Mumbai Indians squad in IPL 2022 as he will be expected to keep the wickets and play almost every game after the franchise also let go of Quintin de Kock, who used to open the batting with skipper Rohit Sharma.

Ishan might take De Kock's opening spot and open the batting with Rohit for the five-time champions from the upcoming season.

We've won two trophies, stood for each other and with each other, they know my cricket and I know they will take care of me. So, I didn't want to go anywhere else,” he added. 'My heart skipped a beat': Ishan Kishan on becoming IPL 2022 mega auction's most expensive signing

Team India demolished West Indies in the just-concluded three-match T20I series at home. On Sunday evening (February 20), Rohit Sharma & Co. took on the Kieron Pollard-led Windies in the third and final encounter with an aim to inflict a series whitewash.

Being asked to bat first, India made 184-5 riding on Suryakumar Yadav's 65 and Venkatesh Iyer's 35* (19). In reply, the visitors were restricted for 167-9 in 20 overs. Harshal Patel's 3 for 22 and two wickets apiece Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur and Iyer propelled the home team to a 17-run win. With this, India closed the WI home series without conceding a single game.

There were a lot of positives for Team India throughout the white-ball series versus West Indies. The likes of Harshal Patel, Deepak Chahar, SKY, Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi, Venky Iyer, etc. did well and made heads turn with their impressive returns. Ishan Kishan, on the other hand, also got starts in the T20I leg but his strike-rate remained below par.

He returned with scores of 35 (42), 2 (10) and 34 (31) in three innings. Kishan, who ended as the most-expensive player at IPL 2022 auction -- bought back by Mumbai Indians (MI) for INR 152.5 million -- struggled to hit the right chord despite getting starts in the series.

From Jason Holder to Tim David: 5 underrated overseas stars who fetched big-fat cheques at mega auction

The IPL 2022 mega auction was a much-awaited affair. The two-day event was held in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13. During the course of the auction, as many as 590 players went under the hammer. Many marquee players earned whopping deals whereas some uncapped and inexperienced cricketers also returned with big-fat cheques.

On the other hand, some iconic and popular T20 players went unsold. The auction saw bidding wars for many players as the ten IPL franchises fought hard as the eight existing teams had to revamp whereas the two new additions -- in the form of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT) -- build their sides from scratch.

DC, CSK, MI or RCB? Here's which franchise bid for maximum players at IPL 2022 mega auction

The IPL 2022 mega auction was a successful two-day event, held in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13. After the end of the mega auction, Ishan Kishan finished as the most expensive player; being bought back by the Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise for a whopping INR 152.5 million (INR 15.25 crore).

Ishan wasn't retained by the Rohit Sharma-led MI franchise ahead of the mega auction. However, his rise in stature and wide range of shots ensured that he was re-acquired by the five-time champions MI in the mega auction. Ahead of the India-West Indies T20I series, on Wednesday (February 16), the 23-year-old Ishan revealed the advice he got from head coach Rahul Dravid post the auction proceedings.

“It’s [auction] done. Had a good chat with Rahul sir also. [He] asked us to just focus on what we are doing right now. Obviously, IPL is a big platform for everyone, and people get happy when they go to good teams. But the focus is on this series,” Kishan told the host broadcaster before the T20I encounter on Wednesday.

“I’m the happiest when I open the innings, but looking at the situation and what the team asks me to do, I’m okay with my role and comfortable batting anywhere. It’s a big six-hitting ground (Eden Gardens, Kolkata) but that’s my strength, I can clear any ground on any day. I have to go there and watch the ball, be clear about what my role is and what the team needs me to do," the 23-year old further highlighted.

Talking about Ishan's performance in the first T20I, the swashbuckling left-hander wasn't at his fluent best and managed a 42-ball 35 in India's chase of 158. Being asked to bat first, Kieron Pollard-led WI managed 157/7 -- with debutant Ravi Bishnoi and Harshal Patel taking two scalps each -- before India chased down the total with 7 balls and 6 wickets to spare. Rohit's 19-ball 40 and Suryakumar Yadav-Venkatesh Iyer's finishing skills enabled a 1-0 lead for the hosts.

The second and penultimate T20I will be played at the same venue on Friday (February 18).

Ind vs WI: Kishan shares Dravid's words of wisdom after MI star bagged whopping deal at IPL mega auction

IPL 2022: All teams and their squad list

Mumbai Indians went all out to rope in England pacer Jofra Archer at the recently-concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction. The five-time champions broke the bank for Archer as they spent a whopping Rs 8 crore (INR 80 million) to secure the services of the fast bowler, who is regarded as one of the best in the world at present.

Archer was among several fast bowlers who managed to earn staggering deals at the IPL 2022 mega auction. Mumbai Indians were involved in an intense bidding war with Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad before they managed to secure the services of the England star. Though he is set to miss the upcoming IPL 2022 due to his ongoing recovery from an elbow injury, Archer will turn up for Mumbai Indians from IPL 2023 next year.

The prospect of the England pacer bowling in tandem with Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah can be terrifying for the best of batters in the league. Archer and Bumrah are two of the best fast bowlers in the death overs and can also make the batsmen dance to their tunes with the new ball. As Archer gears up to play in the same team as Bumrah, an 8-year-old tweet by the England star on the Indian pacer has gone viral.

In 2014, during a league match between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals, Archer had tweeted about Bumrah and hinted that he apparently didn't like the Indian pacer bowl. "Hate to seem Bumrah bowl," Archer had written in a tweet that has resurfaced now after he joined Mumbai Indians at the IPL 2022 mega auction.

Despite BCCI confirming that Archer will not be available for the entire IPL 2022 due to his recovery, several teams expressed interest in the England pacer. Mumbai Indians, who remained very watchful and quiet on the first day of the IPL 2022 mega auction, broke the bank for Archer and all-rounder Tim David on the second day.

While Archer was roped in by Mumbai Indians for Rs 8 crore (INR 80 million), David was bought for a sum of Rs 8.25 crore (INR 82.5 million). Jofra Archer's 8-year-old tweet on Jasprit Bumrah goes viral as England pacer joins Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians (MI) didn't have the best of starts to the proceedings at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction but the five-time champions managed to finish things off in style on the second day of the event. Mumbai Indians had a quiet first day as they made very calculated moves and went all out to buy back Indian wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan for a whopping sum of Rs 15.25 crore (INR 152.5 million).

Mumbai Indians had headed into the mega auction with a purse of Rs 48 crore (INR 480 million) after retaining a total of four players - Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard. One of the most successful teams in the history of the league, MI were expected to make swift moves at the auction but they remained mostly inactive on the first day.

After making Kishan the costliest buy at the IPL 2022 mega auction on the first day, MI went big on England pacer Jofra Archer and Singapore all-rounder Tim David, spending Rs 8 crore (INR 80 million) and Rs 8.25 crore (INR 82.5 million) on the two players respectively. While the prospect of facing Archer and Bumrah together will be nightmarish for the best of batters in the IPL, MI have a lot of holes in their squad.

As per Hogg, Mumbai Indians now have a lack of finishers in the side after the departure of Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya. The former Australia spinner also feels the quality of spinner in the Mumbai Indians line-up is average. Hogg also labelled Archer's acquisition as a huge risk as the England pacer has been nursing an elbow injury which has kept him away from cricket for a long time now. Archer will also miss the upcoming season of IPL and will be in action from the 2023 edition of the tournament.

“Spending 8 crore on Archer is a huge risk, especially after spending 15 crore on Ishan Kishan. He’s had two elbow surgeries in the last 18 months, that’s the worst injury a fast bowler could have,” said Hogg.

“They have a formidable top order in Rohit, Kishan and Surya and then David at No.4, which is also a risk. Who’s going to bat at No.5 is the big question. The bowling department is where their headache starts. They don’t have depth in their bowling and not many top-class spinners. They also don’t have finishers like the Pandya brothers. This is one of the worst auctions MI has ever had,” he added.

In the absence of Archer, Mumbai will hope the likes of Jaydev Unadkat and Tymal Mills can form a destructive pairing with Bumrah. They also would hope for a good show from South Africa U-19 star Dewald Brevis, who has been termed as the 'next AB de Villiers' by many.

IPL 2022 mega auction was one of the worst auctions Mumbai Indians have ever had: Ex-Australia spinner

The recently-concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction saw the ten teams build their squads almost from scratch and rope in some quality cricketers from around the globe in their respective sides. While Indian fast bowlers went for big money, some overseas stars also turned out to be costly picks at the mega auction.

Indian wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan was the most expensive buy at the IPL 2022 mega auction after going to his former side Mumbai Indians for a whopping Rs 15.25 crore (INR 152.5 million), making him the second-most expensive player in the history of IPL auctions.

The auction kept cricket fans across the globe hooked to their television screens as it produced some thrilling bidding wars between the ten teams. Noted presenter and broadcaster Charu Sharma won the hearts of many with his amazing work as an auctioneer after he had to replace Hugh Edmeades, who had an abrupt fall on day 1 and had to be provided immediate medical attention.

While Sharma went about his business with poise and confidence, he ended up making a big goof-up on day 2 of the IPL 2022 mega auction. The mistake took place when Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI) were locked in a bidding war for Indian pacer Khaleel Ahmed.

As the bidding crossed the Rs 5 crore (INR 50 million) mark, Mumbai Indians were the first to raise the bid to Rs 5.25 crore (INR 52.5 million). Sharma then asked Delhi Capitals if they were willing to up their bid to Rs 5.50 crore (INR 55 million). DC co-owner Kiran Kumar Grandhi were seen hesitatingly raising the paddle to up the bid while also having a discussion with the other members in the DC panel.

While the bid should have been raised to Rs 5.50 crore (INR 55 million), Sharma mistakenly announced that DC had the highest bid for the player at the previous amount of Rs 5.25 crore (INR 52.5 million). Khaleel was eventually sold to DC for the same amount, however, it was Mumbai Indians who had first bid that amount for the Indian pacer.

The video of the gaffe from auctioneer Sharma has now gone viral on social media.

The IPL 2022 mega auction was a star-studded two-day affair, which took place in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13. The ten IPL franchises took part in the auction proceedings with an aim to build their respective squads. The two new IPL teams -- Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT) -- had a tougher task in developing a formidable unit from scratch.

Talking about the KL Rahul-led LSG franchise, they impressed one and all with their smart buying skills. Heading into the mega auction with INR 590 million -- after acquiring the services of Rahul, Marcus Stoinis and Ravi Bishnoi -- the Sanjiv Goenka-owned team roped in some big names as well as plenty of youngsters in the mega auction.

Lucknow roped in the likes of Quinton de Kock, Jason Holder, Mark Wood, Evin Lewis, Krunal Pandya, Deepak Hooda, Manish Pandey, etc. to form a strong line-up before the upcoming season, set to be held in March-May. Thus, the new franchise impressed many, including former Indian opener-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra.

Lucknow's shopping at the mega auction was rated highly by many, with some terming it better than veteran franchises Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Mumbai Indians (MI), etc., as they were left with not a single penny in their purse. Thus, Chopra has lauded the new IPL team.

Chopra said on his Youtube channel, "I have given the Lucknow Super Giants the second-most numbers. I have given them 9/10. First, they spent all the money they had; even one rupee was not left. They are phenomenal; how can someone do it with so much precision. They bought 21 players, and there are some outstanding buys.

“They had Rahul, Stoinis and Bishnoi. If you have Stoinis, you think if you can get Jason Holder. Generally, teams think if they can get Stoinis or Mitchell Marsh or Jason Holder. You don't get all three together, they have got two already,” he explained further.

Not CSK or MI! Aakash Chopra impressed with new franchise for superb show at IPL 2022 mega auction

After a pretty quiet first day, Mumbai Indians (MI) sprung into action on day 2 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction on Sunday (February 13). The five-time champions had broken the bank to go all out in getting back young Indian wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan for a whopping sum of Rs 15.25 crore (INR 152.5 million) on the first day of the mega auction.

Mumbai Indians made England pacer Jofra Archer their priority signing on the second day of the mega auction and went all guns blazing to get him despite him not being available for the IPL 2022 season due to his ongoing recovery from an elbow injury. Archer will be in action in the IPL from the 2023 season.

The acquisition of Archer became one of the major talking points on social media as Mumbai Indians fans relished the prospect of having Jasprit Bumrah and Archer bowl in tandem for the five-time champions from the 2023 season onwards. Apart from Bumrah and Archer, MI also added pacers like Basil Thampi, Jaydev Unadkat and Tymal Mills to further strengthen their pace attack.

Mumbai Indians complete squad for IPL 2022: Ishan Kishan, Jofra Archer top buys for Rohit Sharma & Co.

On Day 2 of the IPL 2022 mega auction, Jofra Archer went to the five-time winners Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday evening (February 13). While the MI fans were surprised with the team's strategy, the former champions went for England pacer Archer, who had represented Rajasthan Royals (RR) since his debut season in 2018. IPL 2022 mega auction: Mumbai Indians go all out to buy back Ishan Kishan for Rs 15.25 crore

The IPL 2022 mega auction has started with a bang. The first slot featured the marquee players, such as David Warner, Shikhar Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada, Trent Boult, etc. Rajasthan Royals -- the winners of the inaugural season -- came into the mega auction with INR 620 million and have roped in the likes of R Ashwin (INR 50 million) and Trent Boult (INR 80 million) whereas David Warner has rejoined his first-ever IPL franchise, i.e. Delhi Capitals (DC), for INR 62.5 million.

Warner, who represented the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) from 2014-2021, wasn't retained by the Orange Army ahead of the mega auction proceedings in Bengaluru. His fallout with the SRH team management was a big talking point in the previous season and, hence, Delhi made the most of it to re-buy the Aussie left-hander. Warner is the fifth-highest run-getter in IPL history, with 5,449 runs at 41.59 along with a strike-rate of 139.96. He had earlier represented the Delhi camp -- when they were known as the Delhi Daredevils (DD) -- from 2009 to 2013.

Ashwin, on the other hand, has found a new base. Starting from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to captaining the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and moving to the DC camp, Ashwin will now represent the RR camp. Meanwhile, Boult -- who played a key role in Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians' (MI) title-win in 2020 season -- has also joined Ashwin in the RR setup.

Both Ashwin and Boult will look to assist the young RR captain Sanju Samson in the IPL 2022 edition, to be held in India in March-May. Ashwin has 145 scalps whereas the New Zealander has accounted for 76 wickets in 62 IPL games.

CSK to RCB: A look at the remaining purse of all ten teams ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction

Hardik Pandya is out of action from international cricket for quite sometime. He remains a vital cog in India's limited-overs setup but hasn't played a single game since the Men in Blue's dismal 2021 T20 World Cup campaign.

Hardik has had issues fulfilling the all-rounder's role following his back surgery, in the pre-pandemic era. Since then, he hasn't bowled a lot for Team India and didn't roll his arms for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the last two IPL seasons. In the forthcoming IPL 2022 edition, the 28-year-old Hardik will represent the newly-formed Ahmedabad franchise, named the Gujarat Titans, where he will be eager to play as an all-rounder and also make a mark as captain.

While Hardik remains a big name in Indian cricket in recent times, following his IPL blitz for the MI franchise, the all-rounder had once failed to draw a single bid and went unsold at the 2014 auction for the cash-rich league. In the 2015 auction, Hardik's base price remained the same but he managed to be bought by the Rohit Sharma-led MI franchise. From 2015-2021, Hardik has amassed 1,476 runs at a strike rate of 153.91 along with claiming 42 wickets. He was a vital part of MI's title win in the 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020 editions, respectively. He will now be eager to replicate his success for his home franchise Gujarat Titans.

Hardik Pandya is out of action from international cricket for quite sometime. He remains a vital cog in India's limited-overs setup but hasn't played a single game since the Men in Blue's dismal 2021 T20 World Cup campaign.
