<p>India pacer Mohammed Shami's act of saving a person's life from a car accident in hilly area of Nainital in the state of Uttarakhand&nbsp;is winning hearts. The India bowler shared the information of the incident on his official Instagram account.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the video shared by Shami, he wrote, "He’s so lucky god gave him 2nd life. His car fall down from the hill road near Nainital just in front of my car. We took him out very safely."</p>

<p>India ended the home ODI World Cup with a crushing six-wicket loss at the hands of Australia&nbsp;on Sunday (Nov 19) in Ahmedabad. Being asked to bat first, India only managed 240 in 50 overs before Travis Head's 137 and Marnus Labuschagne's 58 not out took Pat Cummins-led Australia past the finish line in 43 overs. Despite having a brilliant run throughout the World Cup, Rohit Sharma-led India couldn't win the trophy. During India's dominance in the league stage, Raza had come up with several bizarre claims on India's performance. <p>“I had swelling in my knee before the 2015 tournament. Someone else could have said no but I have the ability to bear pain and I was told two options—either directly go for surgery or play the tournament and then go for the surgery. While the team would return to the hotel after every match, I would go to the hospital to take the injection. When you play for the country, you forget everything,“ Shami shared.</p>

<p>Shami underwent a knee operation. “I was unconscious for two hours. When I woke up, I asked the doctor when I could start playing. He replied, ‘It will be a big achievement if you walk without a limp, forget playing. It all depends on how you go about your rehab,” the pacer stated.</p>

<p>Shami has not looked back since. His comeback journey has been visibly inspirational. He not only surpassed the likes of bowling greats to become the highest wicket-taker for the country in the world’s biggest cricket tournament with 55 wickets from 18 matches, but also created history earlier in the semi-finals when he registered India’s best ODI bowling figures of 7-57.</p>

<p>The 33-year-old shared his secret that helps him perform better. “Generally, bowlers check the pitch after arriving at the ground. I never go close to the wicket because you will know how it behaves only when you bowl on it. Then why take the pressure? It’s best to keep it simple, keep yourself relaxed and only then you will perform better,” said Shami, as he also revealed that he doesn’t follow any pre-match ritual.</p>

World Cup: Shami, Gill shine in Mumbai as India punch semis ticket with RECORD win over Sri Lanka

<p>India beat England by 100 runs in match 29 of the ODI World Cup 2023 edition on Sunday (Oct 29) in Lucknow to keep their winning run intact in the ten-team tournament at home. Being asked to bat first, India rode on captain Rohit Sharma's 87, KL Rahul's 39 and Suryakumar Yadav's 49 to post 229 for 9 in 50 overs.<br />

In reply, Jos Buttler-led defending champions were bundled out for 129 in 34.5 overs with Mohammed Shami taking 4 for 22 along with Jasprit Bumrah's 3 for 32. Thus, India regained the top spot, from South Africa, to have 12 points and one foot in the semi-finals.&nbsp;</p>

Shami wasn't preferred in the playing XI during India's initial games but came back during the New Zealand game (picking 5 for 54) and was adjudged the Player-of-the-Match following India's four-wicket win in pursuit of 274 in Dharamsala. In the Lucknow encounter, Shami continued his top form and returned with 4 for 22, dismissing the likes of Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow and Adil Rashid, to contribute in India's win. Thus, Bumrah was all praise for his bowling partner.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>'He's you know, one of the legends of the game'</strong></h2>

<p>Bumrah told Sky Sports, "He is outstanding. He's you know, one of the legends of the game. I feel he has always been quite calm. He doesn't come out to be flamboyant, but the way he was bowling as if he was playing a Test match and [it] was really, really wonderful to see.&nbsp; Usually, we've had a lot of partnerships in Test-match cricket and I really enjoy bowling with him. So yeah, I'm really happy with the way he's going on."</p>

When the times were tough, all our experienced players stood up at the right time and got the game for us. Looking at how the tournament has gone for us, batting second in the first five games, we had to come and bat here. We were challenged upfront, they bowled pretty well upfront. For us to get to a total on a pitch that had something in it, we just wanted to get to a total where we could play with it. We were not great with the bat today. Losing three wickets isn't the ideal situation. When you are in a situation like that, all you are looking to do is create that long partnership, which we got. But couple of guys threw it at the end, including myself."</p>

<p>He added, "I thought we were 30 runs short. (On India's new ball bowling) It's not something you see everyday. When you start your innings, you have to somehow try and get a couple of wickets to put the pressure back on the opposition. With the experience that our seamers have now, you can always rely and bank on them to get those crucial breakthroughs. That's exactly what our seamers did. They exploited the conditions pretty well. There was swing, there was lateral a bit of lateral movement as well. They put the ball in the right areas to create that doubt in the batters' mind."</p>

CWC '23: 'Md Shami is one of the...' - Bumrah all praise for his bowling partner after India beat England

<p>Indian pacer Mohammed Shami was on fire against England in ODI World Cup 2023 in Lucknow as India romped home with a 100-run win for their sixth victory on the trot in the tournament. The India pacer, who was playing only his second game of the tournament, was particularly lethal against Ben Stokes. Shami bowled 10 balls to Stokes, conceded no run and then dismissed the batter as well.</p>

<p>Stokes, in total could play only 10 balls before Shami shattered his stumps for a duck. Coming in to bat at number four in the sixth over, Stokes faced four balls before Shami came back in the eighth over with menacing deliveries and ended his&nbsp;over with Stokes' wicket.</p>

<p>Before Shami's brilliant over, Bumrah took two wickets on the last two balls of the fifth over, dismissing Dawid Malan and Joe Root to start a collapse. England had done well by restricting India to 229 and fancied chasing the target but the Indian bowlers had a different plan.</p>

<p>After Stokes was dismissed, Shami came back in the next over, 10th of England's chase, and took out Jonny Bairstow on the first ball itself. With four wickets down for 39 runs, England just couldn't climb out of the hole.</p>

<p>English skipper Jos Buttler tried to hold the fort with Moeen Ali but Kuldeep Yadav got on through to Buttler and that was the end of the game for England&nbsp;which lost&nbsp;the fifth wicket for 52. England eventually got all out 129, losing their fifth game out six played in the tournament.</p>

<p>Buttler was dejected after the loss and said: "Very disappointed. At the halfway stage, chasing 230 seeing how well we bowled as well, we should have fancied ourselves. Same old story."</p>

<p>The tame performance by the defending champions could have long-term ramifications as ICC has confirmed that qualification for the 2025 Champions Trophy depends on the World Cup&nbsp;standings.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The top seven sides at the end of the league stage will qualify for the eight-team competition. Pakistan will qualify by virtue of being the host nation. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The speedster picked up an impressive five-fer on his World Cup comeback and staked a claim for a permanent spot in the lineup.&nbsp;</p>
