<p>Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma created history in the match against Punjab Kings during his innings of 27-ball 44. Rohit hit four fours and three huge sixes in his innings to help lay the platform for Mumbai while chasing 215.</p>

The MI skipper first hit Arshdeep Sing for a maximum on the last ball of the fourth over before smacking Sam Curran in the next over. Rohit, for his last six of the day, hit former Mumbai spinner Rahul Chahar out of the park in the ninth over of the innings.</p>

<p>Rohit surpassed MS Dhoni, who has 235 sixes in 240 matches, to become the Indian with most sixes in the IPL. The Mumbai batsman reached the milestone in his 233rd match. Leading the overall list is West Indian great Chris Gayle with 357 sixes in 142 IPL matches, followed by South African AB de Villiers with 251 maximums in 184 matches. Rohit is third on the list now with Dhoni on the fourth place. Virat Kohli completes top five with 229 sixes in as many IPL matches.</p>

<p>Rohit eventually was dismissed in the 10th over on a team score of 84. Mumbai, in the end, fell short by 13 runs in a run-fest at Wankhede Stadium despite a valiant effort from skipper Rohit Sharma, Cam Green and Suryakumar Yadav.</p>

LSG's second wicket was lost on 106 runs in 15th over with Pandya succumbing to Noor Ahmed. Rahul, meanwhile, completed his 50 and also became the fastest Indian to score 7000 runs T20 runs.</p>

<p>"The rhythm felt good before the IPL," Arshdeep told the broadcasters after Punjab Kings beat MI at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday.</p>

<p>"I changed my run-up a bit, and it helped with my no-ball problem," Arshdeep added.</p>

<p>Asked about pressure in the death overs, the young star spoke fondly about how he handled the pressure.</p>

<p>"I guess Danny you should come next to me and feel the heart beat; it's not even 120."</p>

<p>Despite the rest of the bowlers being touch-expensive, Arshdeep was enjoying the spell of his life and scalped four wickets in his spell giving away 28 runs. His match-winning bowling knock put the visitors back on track while stopping Mumbai’s momentum.</p>

<p>"I don't think personally I should be getting the Man of the Match [award], [after] the way the boys closed out the game," Curran said.</p>

<p>"Arshdeep and Nathan were incredible. The spinners bowled really well,” the stand-in skipper added.</p>

<p>With 16 to defend in the final over, Arshdeep Singh was the hero of the match for PBKS as he kept Tim David away from the strike. In extraordinary events, he dismissed Tilak Varma (3) and Nehal Wadhera (0) on back-to-back deliveries and broke the stump on both occasions. <p>Punjab Kings got to a flying start even though they lost the wicket of Matthew Short (11) quite early in the innings. The talented duo of Indian youngsters Prabhsimran Singh and Atharva Taide played some beautiful shots that kept the PBKs scoreboard ticking. PBKS crossed the 50-run mark in 5.3 overs. At the end of six overs, PBKS end the powerplay at 58/1 with Prabhsimran Singh (25*) and Atharva Taide (19*) unbeaten.</p>

<p>Mumbai Indians bowler Arjun Tendulkar, who took his maiden wicket recently against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, added another wicket to his name against Punjab Kings off a brilliant yorker.</p>

<p>Bowling his second and the innings seventh over, Tendulkar bowled a pin-point toe-crushing yorker to dangerous looking Prabhsimran Singh who was batting at 26 off 17. <p>By the time this report was being written, the duo had added 92 runs in just 48 balls, including scoring 56 off 14 balls at one stage. The onslaught from Curran and Bhatia also included one over from Tendulkar where the duo took 31 runs. Cam Green eventually dismissed Bhatia in the 18th over on a team score of 175. Bhatia played a brilliant knock of 41 off 28 and had hit Jofra Archer for a six as well in his innings.</p>

<p>The over from Green where he dismissed Bhatia, however, went for 25 runs including four sixes. <p>Gujarat Titans bowler Mohit Sharma bowled a sensational last over as he defended 11 runs to help his team beat Lucknow Super Giants by seven runs in a thrilling contest. LSG, chasing 136, were 80/1 in 10 overs, made a royal mess of what should have been an easy win.</p>

IPL 2023: GT skipper Hardik Pandya goes 4,6,6 against LSG's Ravi Bishnoi - WATCH

<p>Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul created history during the match against Gujarat Titans as he became the fastest Indian to score 7,000 T20 runs. Rahul went past former India skipper Virat Kohli to reach the milestone and to be the third fastest overall in the world to touch the 7K mark.</p>

<p>Rahul reached the record by hitting GT's Mohammed Shami for three back-to-back boundaries as he got to the milestone in his 197th inning, while Virat had done so in 212 innings. Rahul is third on the list behind Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, who leads the list, having reached the 7K mark in 187 innings. The second name on the list is Chris Gayle who reached the milestone in 192 innings.</p>

IPL 2023: LSG's KL Rahul becomes fastest Indian to reach THIS milestone, beats Virat Kohli to it

<p>Gujarat Titans were going nicely with one wicket down at the score of 72 runs in about 11 overs against the Lucknow Super Giants but two quick wickets derailed their innings. One of those two wickets came on the bowling of Amit Mishra - the veteran leg-spinner, who took Abhinav Manohar out but the credit must go to fielder Naveen-ul-Haq for taking a sensational catch.</p>

<p>Manohar played an inside out shot on a flighted ball by Mishra in the 12th over. The ball seemed to be travelling to the boundary between mid-wicket and long-off but Naveen had other plans. The Afghan ran fast and dived full stretch to catch the ball before it hit the ground to send Manohar packing.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Shubman Gill was hit with the commentator’s curse on Saturday, April 22 after he was dismissed for a duck in the Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Playing for Gujarat Titans (GT), Gill who has been in sensational form in 2023 was dismissed for a duck, which was predicted by former India Test opener Akash Chopra.</p>

<p>"In batting, Wriddhiman Saha gives starts but doesn't make a big score. There will be pressure on Shubman Gill because this pitch will not be that flat. [B] Sai Sudharsan has been very, very good but a run-a-ball. David Miller is brilliant and is more effective in a run chase,” Akash had predicted early.</p>

<p>Deciding to bat first, Gujarat Titans (GT) openers Gill and Wriddhiman Saha walked out to bat and looked to continue their impressive run. Before the match started, Gill scored 228 runs in the five IPL matches with a best of 67 and has scored two fifties. But like Akash predicted the pitch was not flat and won’t be helpful for the India batter to stamp his authority.</p>

<p>On the second ball of the second over, Gill did not judge Krunal Pandya’s delivery and ended up handing a simple catch to Ravi Bishnoi. The dismissal paved way for LSG to strike an early blow and establish an early advantage in the contest.</p>

<p>Chennai Super Kings&nbsp;head coach Stephen Fleming thinks MS Dhoni doesn't get enough credit for his wicketkeeping skills. Dhoni, who effected a stumping, a run-out and took a catch in CSK's win over Sunrisers Hyderabad, is arguably one of the best finishers the game has ever witnessed.</p>

<p>“It’s a natural talent. I don’t think he gets enough credit for his keeping but to be honest, he is an absolute craftsman, an absolute masterclass behind the stumps and often goes unnoticed with all the things he does,” said Fleming at the post match presentation after CSK's win.</p>

<p>While Dhoni has had few balls to play in the ongoing IPL season, he was at his wicketkeeping best against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. &nbsp;The CSK skipper was part of three SRH dismissals, namely Aiden Markram - his counterpart, Mayank Agarwal and Washington Sundar.</p>

<p>Among the three dismissals, it was Aiden Markram's catch in the 13th over which even surprised Dhoni himself. Markram tried to cut a short ball from Maheesh Theekshana but could only edge it behind the stumps which stuck to Dhoni's hand as he leapt a bit.</p>

<p>&nbsp;"I felt it was a fantastic catch. I was in such a wrong position. Just because we wear gloves, people think it's easy. A long time back I still remember one game - Rahul Dravid was keeping and he caught one like that. With your skill set, you can't take a catch like that. You have to be in a very wrong position to be able to take that kind of a catch," Dhoni said about the catch.</p>

<p>MSD also set the record of most catches (208) in T20s by a wicketkeeper Markram's catch, surpassing Quinton de Kock. For the other two wickets, Dhoni stumped Mayank Agarwal exactly an over after off Ravindra Jadeja while he ran Washington Sundar out on the last ball of SRH's innings for the third.</p>

<p>During the chase, Devon Conway scored 77 not out off 57 balls as CSK hunted down the below-par score of 138 in 18.4 overs with seven wickets in hand.</p>

<p>Dhoni has endured a reputation of classy acts throughout his career and Friday was no different as he interacted with more than of the SRH squad. The opposition camp players included the likes of Abhishek Sharma, Umran Malik and Rahul Tripathi as they carefully listened to the tips delivered by the former India skipper.</p>

<p>The win on Friday evening saw Dhoni’s CSK go third in the table on eight points and are in firm control for a place in the Playoffs. <h2><strong>Conway, Ruturaj lead CSK’s run chase</strong></h2>

<p>Asked to chase 135, CSK openers Devon Conway (unbeaten 77) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (35) started to dominate from the start and put together an opening stand of 87 runs. The duo was in excellent touch as Conway hammered 12 fours and a six while Gaikwad was scoring at a slow rate. The 2021 Orange Cap winner, Gaikwad was unfortunate to have been run out at the non-striker's end when the ball came off the bowler and he was caught off guard.</p>

<p>Ajinkya Rahane and Ambati Rayadu then followed soon as they were dismissed for nine runs while Moeen Ali (unbeaten 6) helped CSK home. The fifty from Conway was his third consecutive in the IPL and has been a good addition to the side. Mayank Markande scalped two wickets for 23 runs from his four overs and was the pick of the bowlers.</p>
