Kamran Akmal has said that India's achievement in global cricket in the course of recent years has had a great deal to do with the significance they have given to red-ball cricket.

Team India are as of now the top-ranked side in the game, according to the authority ICC Test match appraisals. They are set to confront New Zealand in the World Test Championship finale in Southampton.

On his YouTube channel, Kamran Akmal brought up that, with the exception of MS Dhoni, any remaining enormous names in Indian cricket from the 90s and 2000s resigned in the wake of playing Test cricket. As indicated by the 39-year-old, that reality demonstrates that India has had their needs in the perfect spot. Kamran Akmal explained in such manner:

"India have not settled on their red-ball cricket. At the school level, India have two-day, three-day cricket. Today, they have a pool of 50 players since Indian cricket has given a ton of significance to Test cricket. Among every one of the legends of Indian cricket, aside from MS Dhoni, nobody has resigned subsequent to playing white-ball cricket. All the others played a Test match as their final remaining one. That gives us an extraordinary thought of their vision: how to fabricate a group, how to acquire players into the Indian set-up."

While MS Dhoni hanged his boots from Test cricket in 2014, his last international match was the 2019 World Cup semi-last against New Zealand. Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly all left the global stage after playing Test matches.

Kamran Akmal further called attention to that India have a solid homegrown cricket, and a large portion of the players as of now have an insight of a couple of years before they show up in worldwide cricket.

"Full credit to India's mindset. Two teams will be playing at a time soon, one in England and one in Sri Lanka. Their cricket culture is so strong that they can field three international teams at the same time. This is because they have made no compromises at the grass-root level" – he said.

"Their white-ball or List A players, when they enter the worldwide scene, they have effectively played 40 to 50 games. Take the case of Suryakumar Yadav, who as of late made his India debut after a huge delay. The greater part of these players have a base homegrown encounter of four to five years. At the point when they come into the Indian group, they are as of now develop enough" - he added.

Kamran Akmal additionally praised any semblance of Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble for rewarding Indian cricket by training and coaching more youthful players.

“The mindset of Indian cricket is commendable. Look at all the Indian legends from the 90s - from Rahul Dravid to Anil Kumble to VVS Laxman - all of them are involved in Indian cricket in some way or the other. That is helping the new generation. And this not just for IPL; they keep an eye on domestic cricket as well, be it Virender Sehwag or Yuvraj Singh. They haven't changed their brand of cricket, but they have elevated their existing level” - he said.

Team India's crushing defeat at the hands of England in the first test match at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai has raised a lot of questions like the exclusion of the Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav from the playing XI, India's batting form and to top it all, Virat Kohli's captaincy.

After the match ended, here's what Kohli said: “I don't think we put enough pressure on them with the ball in the first half. Collectively as a bowling unit, fast bowlers and Ash, were good in the first innings but we also needed to contain a few more runs and create pressure. Having said that, it was a slow wicket and not helping the bowlers which made it easy for the batsmen to rotate strike and get into the game,” Kohli said in the post-match presentation.

“That's a fair assessment (the fourth and fifth bowlers not being up to the mark). You need your bowling unit to step up and create pressure on the opposition. We didn't achieve that in this game which is fine, lack of execution is acceptable but to understand our mindset was right is very important for us. I think we did well in the second innings with the ball and put pressure on them. With the bat as well, we left a few things to be desired and analysed as batsmen with the kind of decisions we took. We are always learning as a side and evolving as a side and Test cricket is tough. England were ready for that grind and probably better equipped than us."

Better equipped? Well, Indian team has top-ranked bowlers, and batsmen, who were motivated after a brilliant end to the Australia series. Our batsmen have faced the toughest bowling attack (Australia's) but failed to defend or attack the English bowlers at home turf. Hats off to Anderson though! At the age of 38, he is ageing like fine wine. Ask Shubman Gill and Ajinkya Rahane after those scorching reverse-swinging deliveries.

Has 'King Kohli' lost too many battles to hold his position? Last four test matches under Kohli's leadership have resulted in a loss. 2-0 whitewash against New Zealand, India's Adelaide loss (Where Virat and Co. were bundled out in 36 runs), and now the loss in Chennai against Joe Root's England. Has Virat Kohli's luck run out? From being the most successful captain to the current situation. I feel so!

Virat Kohli took over the reins as India's full-time Test captain in 2015, since then he had led the team to 33 wins, including the team's first-ever win Down Under. However, Team India under Kohli has also suffered 14 defeats and 10 draws.

Team's first defeat in Chennai since 1999 has ended India’s 14-match unbeaten streak in home Tests. Many cricketing experts and fans (including me) believe that Kohli's career as the captain could end. I feel that Virat Kohli should now focus on his career as the batsman as he looks in too much pressure when he comes out to bat.

In my opinion, tosses do determine the course of the match and Kohli, clearly, is unlucky when it comes to it. Let's not forget IPL 2019, where Kohli famously gestured saying that he lost his ninth toss in 12 matches. His record of tosses has been really poor, although that's not in his hands. I feel the toss played a major role in the loss against England. I have been a fan of Virat Kohli, the batsman! He seems fearless and a major threat to the opposition. But in recent years, it feels as if the pressure of captaincy has got to him. The last century Virat scored was back in November 2019.

He has proved his calibre as India's Test captain, but it seems like the time has come to pass on the mantle. Dhoni surprised everyone when he decided to retire from Tests after a poor show in back-to-back series. However, I would not want Virat to retire, in fact, revive his career as the prolific batsman.

Talks of multiple captains in Team India have been doing rounds for some time now. Rohit Sharma for T20Is, Virat Kohli for ODIs and Ajinkya Rahane for Test.

Agreed, Virat Kohli brought aggression and passion to the Indian team under his captaincy, but Indian players need a much more relaxed leader. Despite being at a losing stage in Australia, Team India bounced back with an amateur playing XI with patience and much-needed resilience.

The playing XI choices under Kohli have been somewhat questionable. From including out of form Shaw for the Adelaide Test to omitting much-experienced Kuldeep Yadav for much inexperienced (in international stage) Shahbaz Nadeem, who failed to leave an impact in the match. Washington Sundar could also be criticised for his bowling in the first match, but his strong knock in the second innings justified his place in the playing XI. Sundar has proved himself from the very first Test (in Australia). With Jadeja's injury, India are definitely on back-foot! But Yadav could have done much better than Nadeem!

However, Kohli said that there were "no regrets" for choosing Nadeem over Yadav.

I am a Virat Kohli FAN! I am! But I feel the series will be the litmus test for Virat Kohli's calibre as a captain. He has had a prolific record in Test cricket as the captain, but it is definitely deteriorating and I don't want him to ruin his record.

India's thrilling super over win in Hamilton ensured their first-ever win in T20I series in New Zealand. Kiwis's poor home run continues, earlier, they lost 3-0 in the Test series against Australia. Now they trail 3-0 in the five-match T20I series against India.

India won the first T20I by six wickets in Eden Park, Auckland, they chased New Zealand's 203 in an over to spare.

In the second T20I, India chased a low total of 132 runs in just 17.3 overs. KL Rahul was declared the man of the match. Ravindra Jadeja had the best economy as a bowler.

The third T20I had a thrilling finish to it. Rohit Sharma's 65 in 40 balls studded with six boundaries and three sixes to help India reach 179 for 5.

The hosts looked in control while chasing this modest total until the end but Shami's last overturned the game around for India after he dismissed Taylor and Williamson after being hit for a six off the first ball.

Williamson's valiant 95 wasn't enough for New Zeland to clinch the match.

After the tie, New Zealand scored 17 runs in the super over with Williamson scoring 11. Rohit Sharma came to the party hitting two consecutive sixes in the super over to win India the match and the series.

New Zealand will be hoping to go down with a fight and avoid a clean sweep in the series.

The fourth match will be played in Wellington's Sky Stadium. The boundaries are slightly bigger and the outfield will be faster.

New Zealand's Colin de Grandomme has had a poor run for the Kiwis and is likely to miss out on the fourth T20I. Tom Bruce will come in his spot. Hamish Bennett's 27 runs in the over leaves his position in jeopardy, despite his comeback in the same match where he scalped three important wickets doesn't waive off the chances of being replaced by Blair Tickner or Daryll Mitchell.

Probable XI: Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Kane Williamson (c), Ross Taylor, Tim Seifert (wk), Tom Bruce, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Scott Kuggeleijn, Hamish Bennett/Blair Tickner/Daryl Mitchell

India, on the other hand, would want to experiment with the team now. After a confirming a series win after the third T20I, India might bring in younger players. Shivam Dube might get replaced with Washington Sundar as he was poor with his bat and bowl during the third T20I. Sanju Samson could be in the playing XI. Navdeep Saini could be brought in for Chahal.

Probable XI: Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul (wk), Virat Kohli (c), Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Shivam Dube/Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal/Navdeep Saini, Jasprit Bumrah

Probable XI: Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Kane Williamson (c), Ross Taylor, Tim Seifert (wk), Tom Bruce, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Scott Kuggeleijn, Hamish Bennett/Blair Tickner/Daryl Mitchell India, on the other hand, would want to experiment with the team now. Probable XI: Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul (wk), Virat Kohli (c), Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Shivam Dube/Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal/Navdeep Saini, Jasprit Bumrah Squads: India: Rohit Sharma, Lokesh Rahul(wk), Virat Kohli (captain), Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, Manish Pandey, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Sanju Samson, Kuldeep Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Washington Sundar, Navdeep Saini New Zealand: Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Kane Williamson(captain), Tom Bruce, Ross Taylor, Tim Seifert(wk), Mitchell Santner, Scott Kuggeleijn, Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi, Hamish Bennett, Daryl Mitchell, Blair Tickner

India vs Australia, 1st ODI: Starc knocks out Team India; Kohli misses chance to break record

Ahead of the crucial one-day international(ODI) clash against Australia at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday, Indian skipper Virat Kohli said he does not "support people" comparing players within the team.

Australians are eyeing an exciting ODI series against India at home starting next week with Aaron Finch declaring his team is ready to "give Virat Kohli's men a run for their money." Finch's teamates - David Warner, Pat Cummins and Marnus Labuschagne have also made their intentions clear ahead of the crucial ODI encounter against Virat's India. The former world champions will look to repeat their feat last year when they beat India 3-2 in in an ODI series last year. Australia came back to win the series after trailing in the series. Finch said that Marnus Labuschagne's presence in the squad will be vital as the newcomer's form has been fantastic. Marnus Labuschagne has yet not debuted in the ODI format but has had an amazing run in Tests. Marnus Labuschagne, the new Aussie batting sensation aspires to be a world-class cricketer in all formats.
Opening batsman Prithvi Shaw has left Mumbai's Ranji Trophy squad midway after suffering a left rotator cuff injury.

The player suffered the injury in the Ranji Trophy match against Karnataka at Bandra Kurla Complex. The batsman has now been rushed to the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

"He underwent an MRI scan last evening in Mumbai, and the reports confirmed a labral tear. He is in a lot of pain and is headed to Bangalore to meet the NCA physios. They will assess him and decide the next course," ESPN Cricinfo quoted Mumbai's coach Vinayak Samant as saying.

Shaw had picked up the injury on Friday when he fell on his left shoulder while backing up to stop an overthrow. He left the field immediately and did not return.

"Initially, it was more a precaution to get him off the field and rest him. I wanted him to bat, I thought he will bat even if it meant just going there, blocking and supporting the other batsman, but he wasn't entirely comfortable with that," said Vinayak.

"Then we received an e-mail this morning around 11 am from the BCCI to pull him out of the match and send him to the NCA for assessment. Losing him to an injury is disappointing, looking at his own game and from our team's point of view because we need to fight for every run if are to set a defend a target against Karnataka," he said.

Shaw was named in India A squad for the upcoming series against New Zealand and the side was slated to leave for Auckland on January 10.
Last year, Shaw was suspended by the BCCI for a doping violation.

BCCI, in their statement, had stated that they were satisfied with the explanation given by Shaw that he had taken Terbutaline inadvertently to treat a Respiratory Tract Infection and not as a performance-enhancing drug.
