After India shockingly lost to Pakistan in their Super 12 opening fixture in the T20 World Cup 2021 edition, Virat Kohli-led Men in Blue were expected to comeback hard against New Zealand, their second opposition in the marquee event.

India and New Zealand locked horns with each other on Sunday evening (October 31), at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai as many expected the one-time winners to move past the Black Caps. However, India do not have a good record versus the Kiwis in ICC events and it once again got exposed as Kohli & Co. lost to Kane Williamson-led Black Caps by 8 wickets at Dubai.

Being asked to bat first, India managed a below-par 110/7 as none of their batters got going whereas Trent Boult and Ish Sodhi starred for Kiwis with the ball. In reply, New Zealand ended the match with 8 wickets and 33 balls to spare. With this, India have only a solitary victory over the New Zealanders in ICC events, which came during the 2003 ODI World Cup, in South Africa.

After the match, former Pakistan all-rounder and captain Shahid Afridi has made a bold claim on India's chances going ahead. He tweeted saying, "India still have an outside chance of qualifying for semis but with how they have played their two big games in the event, it will be nothing but a miracle to see them qualify. @T20WorldCup."

Former England captain Kevin Pietersen urged the public on Monday to support the team even if they lose a game. Pietersen's remark came after the Indian cricket team was trolled on social media following their ICC Men's T20 World Cup loss to New Zealand. "There is a winner and a loser in the game. No player goes out to lose. It is the greatest honour to represent your country. Please realize that the people in the game are not robots and they need support at all times," tweeted Pietersen in Hindi.

T20 WC: Kevin Pietersen, Harbhajan Singh ask fans to support Team India after loss against New Zealand

After being thrashed by Pakistan in their T20 World Cup 2021 opener, Virat Kohli-led Team India were hammered by Kane Williamson-led New Zealand on Sunday (October 31), at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in their second game in Super 12.

Being asked to bat first, nothing clicked for India as they managed a below-par 110/7 in 20 overs. In reply, New Zealand sailed past the Men in Blue by 8 wickets courtesy vital knocks from Daryl Mitchell and Captain Williamson. With another defeat, the one-time winners India are almost on the verge of being eliminated from the marquee tournament.

With several experts and former cricketers questioning India's poor run and their tactics, Jasprit Bumrah pointed out that the bubble-life has taken a toll on the Indian cricketers. In their defence, Team India have been on the road since mid-May, 2021 and have played regular cricket since then. To move from one bio-bubble to the other isn't easy by any means and it has started to affect the players.

Bumrah told reporters post India's thrashing versus New Zealand, "Absolutely, sometimes you need a break. You miss your family. You've been on the road for six months. So all of that sometimes play on the back of your mind. But when you're on the field, you don't think of all those things .. Obviously staying in a bubble and staying away from your family for such a long period of time does play a role.

"The BCCI also tried their best to make us feel comfortable .. It's a difficult time. There's a pandemic going on, so we try to adapt but sometimes bubble fatigue, mental fatigue also creeps in."

The deadline for applying for Team India head coach post, as set by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has finally arrived. For the unversed, the Sourav Ganguly-led board had invited applications for several posts in the team, such as the head coach, batting coach, bowling coach, fielding coach and head sports science for NCA. Leaving out the head coach's role, the deadline for all other post will come to an end on November 03.

A few weeks back, reports suggested that India's former captain Rahul Dravid had given his nod to apply for the national side's head coach post -- after Ravi Shastri's end of tenure post the T20 World Cup. It is to be noted that Dravid is yet to formally apply for the post. Currently, he remains the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), at Bengaluru.

Earlier, it was reported that Dravid wasn't keen to take up the Team India head coach post due to his unwillingness to spend a lot of time away from his young family. However, after some talks he has reportedly considered the role. Nonetheless, he asked for some more time. BCCI president Ganguly had also confirmed that his former teammate hasn't officially given his nod for the top post.

"There is no confirmation (On Dravid becoming coach). If he wants to apply, he will apply, the process has to happen. For now, he is the coach of NCA and I believe NCA has a big role to play in Indian cricket. I have spoken to him earlier about this as well and he was not that interested and I feel the situation is still the same. He has asked for some time, let's see what happens," Ganguly had told India Today.

Due to his astonishing record as India A and U-19 coach, from 2016-2019, Dravid is being touted to be the perfect replacement of Shastri and take up the Team India coaching role. Nonetheless, it seems that the picture will get clearer by the end of Tuesday (October 26).

Dravid also served as the stand-in coach during Team India's limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka, when Virat Kohli-led Test side was in United Kingdom early this year.

D-day for applying for Team India head coach post today - Will Rahul Dravid make the final move?

India and Pakistan met each other in the 4th match of the Super 12 round in the T20 World Cup 2021 edition, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on Sunday evening (October 24). Virat Kohli-led India were favourites as the Men in Blue had a 12-0 lead over their arch-rivals Pakistan in World Cup history, including both ODIs and T20Is.

However, Babar Azam-led Pakistan stunned the Indian team as they produced a clinical performance with both bat and ball to win by 10 wickets, with 13 balls to spare. Thus, the one-time winners Pakistan not only started their T20 WC 2021 campaign in style, but they also ended their winless streak versus India in WC history. Shaheen Afridi, Babar, Haris Rauf and Mohammad Rizwan were the heroes for Pakistan in their flawless performance versus Kohli & Co.

After the match, former Pakistan speedster and bowling coach Waqar Younis made heads turn by making a shocking statement. Speaking to a ARY News, Waqar told what impressed him the most in the Indo-Pak clash. "Sabse ache baat jo Rizwan ne ki. Usne ground mein khade hoke Naamaz padhe, hinduon ke beech mein....So that was really something very very special for me. (What I liked the most is what Rizwan did. He stood in the middle of the ground and read the prayers, in front of the Hindus)."

Following Waqar's remark, even Shoaib Akhtar -- who was a part of the panel discussion -- and the news anchor were left embarrassed.

Talking about the match, Babar-led Pakistan won the toss and opted to bowl first at Dubai. Shaheen's 3 for 31 and Haris Rauf's 1 for 25 restricted India to 151-7, as only Kohli made a mark with the bat (57). In reply, Babar's 68* and Rizwan's stunning 78 not out took Pakistan to the total without dropping any sweat.

Given how Waqar's shocking remark stunned Akhtar and the tv news anchor, it shows how the entire statement could've been avoided. While at one end some fans from both nations need to deal with the outcome of the Indo-Pak match in a much better way, former and established cricketers like Waqar should refrain from making such glaring remarks and keep their views with regard to the game only.

T20 World Cup, IND vs PAK live streaming: When and where to watch India vs Pakistan match?

Team India fans have been patiently waiting to see Hardik Pandya bowl once again. The all-rounder had undergone a back surgery in late 2019, which ruled him out of action from international cricket for a long time. He returned to competitive cricket in IPL 2020. While he did well with the bat, the 27-year-old didn't bowl a single over in last year's IPL.

On the other hand, Hardik just bowled a handful of overs when Virat Kohli was searching for an extra bowler during the second and penultimate ODI versus Australia, during India's tour of Australia in late 2020. Since then, he hasn't returned to bowling at regular intervals. While he did contribute with the ball in the India-England T20Is, at home, early this year and in the Sri Lanka tour in July, Hardik is playing majorly as a specialist batsman in limited-overs whereas he has gone down the pecking order in Tests after not being available as an all-rounder. In addition, he didn't bowl a single over even in IPL 2021.

Ahead of India's T20 World Cup 2021 opener, versus Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on Sunday evening (October 24), Hardik revealed that he won't bowl for the Men in Blue in their opening fixture but revealed his plans going forward. He told the broadcasters, "The back is fine, it was jittery, but I won't be bowling for now. I want to be able to bowl eventually, closer to the knockouts. The professionals and I both have to take the call about when I can have a bowl."

On the much-hyped Indo-Pak cricketing rivalry, Hardik said, "I don't like to get too hyped by the situation, and my family make sure of that too. I stay away from social media because you do get excited and get the vibes. It's simple, and we leave emotions out of the way, and keep things professional. We make sure we tick the right boxes, and do the processes right."

T20 WC: Mentor MS Dhoni turns throwdown specialist in Team India nets ahead of Pakistan face-off

Team India will begin their campaign in the main draw of the T20 World Cup 2021, versus arch-rivals Pakistan on October 24 (Sunday), at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. The Men in Blue are one of the favourites for the marquee event and will like to win their second title in the seventh edition of the T20 WC.

While Virat Kohli-led India have a daunting line-up, comprising Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, etc., the Indian team will feel the pressure to win the ICC event as they haven't won any major title since their triumph in the 2013 Champions Trophy. Following that, India have entered the semi-finals in every preceding ICC event, however, couldn't return with the title.

Speaking at length on India's recent struggles in ICC knockouts since 2013 CT win, where they've lost three finals and equal number of semis during this period, Little Master Sunil Gavaskar said they need to change their selection process and pointed out few other important aspects that need to be tweaked.

Gavaskar said on 'Salaam Cricket' show on Sports Tak, "One of India's weaknesses in knockouts has been the selection of final XI. Sometimes, it's also about the mindset. It is often said that 'runs on the board' matter a lot in the final, and that you should bat first. Even if you score 140, it is difficult for the opposition to maintain 7 rpo in the chase; specifically in international cricket."

"We haven't done that (batted first). Batting second invites pressure; if you lose wickets early, you need a consolidation period of 7-8 overs, so it becomes difficult to catch up," he added.

Following their 2013 CT win, India have lost three matches while defending and equal number of games while defending in ICC knockouts.

It will be interesting to see how far the national side goes in the T20 WC 2021. India are placed in Pool B along with Pakistan, Scotland, Namibia, Afghanistan and New Zealand.

Even if you score 140, it is difficult for the opposition to maintain 7 rpo in the chase; specifically in international cricket." "We haven't done that (batted first). Batting second invites pressure; if you lose wickets early, you need a consolidation period of 7-8 overs, so it becomes difficult to catch up," he added. T20 WC: Sunil Gavaskar decodes reasons behind India's failures in ICC knockouts

India and Pakistan are set to lock horns in the upcoming match of the T20 World Cup 2021, in the UAE, which will be the tournament-opener for both sides in the main draw of the showpiece event. Both sides last met in the 2019 ODI World Cup, where Virat Kohli-led India thrashed Pakistan by 89 runs (DLS method).

In addition, India beat Pakistan by 6 wickets in what was the last face-off between both sides in the shortest format, during the 2016 edition of T20 WC. Ahead of the marquee encounter, many experts and former cricketers have labelled India as the favourites due to their unbeaten streak versus the Men in Green in World Cups (both ODIs and T20Is). For the unversed, India lead Pakistan 7-0 in the 50-over WC whereas they have a 5-0 head-to-head record versus Babar Azam & Co. in the T20 WC.

However, Babar Azam has played down India's superior record and believes history will be created with Pakistan beating India in the upcoming face-off, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday (October 24).

"When you go into a big tournament, what matters is your belief, the confidence you have within the group. As a team, our confidence and morale is very high. Past is gone, we are not thinking about it rather we are focusing on the future. I am confident that we are well prepared and will play good cricket in the match," Azam said during a presser.

"An India-Pakistan contest is always a high-intensity match and there always is pressure but as players and as teams, we try to focus on cricket. We need to be calm and focus just on cricket. We will have to play good cricket in the match. As far as the conditions in UAE is concerned, since I have been playing cricket, we have played in UAE in the last 3-4 years and we know how the wickets will behave and how the batsmen need to adapt themselves. On the day, whoever plays better cricket will win and our aim is to play best cricket and if you ask me, I think we will win," he said.

'Past is history': Babar Azam on India's unbeaten record against Pakistan in World Cups

Ahead of India's T20 World Cup 2021 opener, versus Pakistan, on October 24 at Dubai, some of the key Indian players took up the dalgona candy, inspired from Netflix's popular drama series 'Squid Game'. The likes of Hitman Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Mohammed Shami and Varun Chakravarthy took up the challenge where they were required to carve out shapes drawn in the candies without breaking it. In the show, players who fail to do so within the stipulated time get killed.

For the unversed, only Rohit and Shami succeeded whereas the likes of Rahul, SKY, Varun and Bumrah faltered. The video got shared on the official Instagram handle of the International Cricket Council's (ICC).

"India put to the test in nerve-wracking game," ICC captioned its Instagram post along with the video. "Indian Cricket Team stars are put to the test with a game made famous by one of the world's most talked about shows," it added.

India have a 5-0 lead over arch-rivals Pakistan in the tournament-history but won't take the Men in Green lightly as they are among the top-three sides in the ICC T20I rankings. Virat Kohli-led India's group, i.e. Pool B, comprises Pakistan, New Zealand and Afghanistan whereas two more teams will join from the qualifiers.

Team India take 'Squid Game' challenge ahead of T20 World Cup opener, only two succeed - WATCH

The T20 World Cup 2021 edition commenced on October 17 with the lowly-ranked sides playing the qualifying round. The main draw of the showpiece event is set to kick off from October 23 (Saturday) where all the major sides will lock horns with each other and give plenty to cheer for the ardent fans of the gentlemen's game.

Ahead of the main draw, many former cricketers and experts of the game have shared their prediction regarding the semi-finalists in the seventh edition, being held in the UAE. Brad Hogg was the latest to join the bandwagon as he named his semi-finalists, snubbing Aaron Finch-led Australia.

“If Pakistan get beaten by India in the first game, they’ve got a short turnaround to play New Zealand. I think that will be a huge factor on whether Pakistan go through or not. If Pakistan lose against India in the first game, I don’t think they will get through, India will get through. So watch that space,” Hogg said in an interaction with Deep Dasgupta on his YouTube channel.

“The teams that I think are going to go to the semis are England and the West Indies from Group 1 and from Group 2 I think it’s going to be Pakistan and India,” he added.

So watch that space,” Hogg said in an interaction with Deep Dasgupta on his YouTube channel. “The teams that I think are going to go to the semis are England and the West Indies from Group 1 and from Group 2 I think it’s going to be Pakistan and India,” he added. No room for Aaron Finch-led Australia! Brad Hogg predicts T20 World Cup semi-finalists

After Team India thrashed England by 7 wickets, with an over to spare, in their first warm-up encounter, the Men in Blue will take on Aaron Finch-led Australia in their last practice game ahead of the main draw of the T20 World Cup 2021, in the UAE.

India ticked several boxes in their first warm-up game with R Ashwin being economical (4-0-23-0) whereas Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami were among wickets. However, their biggest concern is the form of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who conceded 54 runs in his quota of overs. Meanwhile, Rahul Chahar and Shami were expensive as well.

It will be interesting to see if India gives a chance to Ravindra Jadeja, Varun Chakravarthy and Shardul Thakur versus the Men in Yellow. In the batting department, the one-time winners are spoilt for choices with Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant going bonkers against Jos Buttler-led England. Nonetheless, they will want Captain Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya to face more deliveries to attain more game time before the main draw kicks off.

Rohit Sharma is likely to return to the playing XI after being rested versus England. For Australia, they had a narrow win versus New Zealand, by 3 wickets, and will like their batters to convert their starts after their bowlers restricted Kiwis to 158-7. David Warner's form remains a concern whereas Glenn Maxwell is expected to get a look-in.

The T20 World Cup 2021 edition has started with the qualifying round underway whereas the automatically-qualified teams are engaged in the warm-up encounters. Before the main draw of the showpiece event, former England captain Michael Vaughan has made a big claim on Virat Kohli-led Team India.

While many former cricketers and experts of the gentlemen's game feel India are one of the favourites for the seventh edition of the T20 WC, Vaughan begs to differ. "England for me are the favourites. I don’t know how India get the “favourites” tag in T20 cricket. I just think they’ve been a long way off in the last few tournaments,’ Vaughan told BBC Test Match Special.

He further asserted, "West Indies and Pakistan will be threats. I wouldn’t write off Pakistan either. New Zealand have high-class players and you know they will come up with strategies to win games. I’ll say it now, I don’t give Australia much chance. In T20 cricket they’ve struggled. Glenn Maxwell’s exceptional so he will have to have an incredible tournament. But I don’t see the Aussies doing too much. England, India, West Indies, New Zealand, one of those four and maybe Pakistan because of the conditions."

“The pitches will be interesting because they’ve been used and slow [during the Indian Premier League]. I think 150-160 might be defendable scores,” Vaughan added.

Don’t know how India get favourites tag, says Michael Vaughan ahead of Virat Kohli & Co.'s Pakistan tie

There's never a dull moment in Pakistan cricket. There's always something happening at all times, which catches the attention of cricket lovers all across the world. Ahead of the T20 World Cup, Pakistan lost out on a chance to host New Zealand and England (i.e. the Three Lions' men's and women's teams) as the Kiwis abandoned their tour of Pakistan at the last moment, citing security concerns, whereas England followed suit.

Thus, it led to a huge disappointment for the Pakistan cricket lovers and the PCB. The New Zealand team's abandonment and England's withdrawal to tour Pakistan came at a time when the Asian side had started hosting international games at regular intervals in their own country. In 2009, Pakistan had faced a huge crisis when the Lahore terror attack, on Sri Lankan cricket team, led to them not being able to host international games for six years.

While the situation eased out reasonably, the NZ-England teams' withdrawals have again put Pakistan on the back foot. Nonetheless, the Babar Azam-led Men in Green will enter the T20 World Cup with an aim to vent out their frustration in the ICC event and return home with the title, replicating the Younis Khan-led side when they won the T20 WC following the terror attack, at Lahore, which resulted in Pakistan cricket's humiliation.

Ahead of Pakistan's T20 WC opener, versus India on October 24 at Dubai, former all-rounder and skipper Shahid Afridi has made a bold claim on Babar & Co.

"We had that issue of the Sri Lanka attacks on our minds," Afridi told AFP. "The whole nation was disappointed and frustrated so that win was very much needed. He added, "The win gave the whole nation happiness and some unforgettable moments. This is Pakistan cricket for you, never ever a dull day. Pakistan can surprise any team in the world. Rule them out at your peril."

T20 WC: Shahid Afridi issues stern warning, says 'Pakistan can surprise anyone, rule them out at own peril'

Ishan Kishan was given a chance at the top-order for Team India in their first warm-up fixture, ahead of the main draw of the T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE. Virat Kohli-led India faced England in a warm-up encounter on Monday evening (October 18) and the swashbuckling left-hander, who didn't have a memorable IPL 14 for Mumbai Indians (MI), stunned one and all with his entertaining 46-ball 70 before he voluntarily walked off, retired hurt, to give others a chance in India's successful 189-run chase.

Opting to bowl first, Kohli-led India rode on Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami's breakthroughs to keep Eoin Morgan-less England for 188-5. Jos Buttler-led Three Lions posted a competitive score courtesy Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone. However, the dew factor coupled with some sloppy fielding along with Ishan-KL Rahul's fireworks led to England's seven-wicket thrashing. Kohli & Co. finished the run-chase with an over to spare, at ICC Academy Ground, Dubai.

Ishan, who opened the innings with Rohit Sharma being rested, has added to India's selection woes as the team management have plenty to choose from. The left-hander's innings comprised 7 fours and 3 sixes, at 152.37, as he has made a strong statement to be in India's XI for their tournament-opener, versus Pakistan on October 24 at Dubai.

Ahead of the high-voltage Indo-Pak clash, former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has suggested where Ishan should bat in the mega event. He told on his Youtube channel, "Don't disturb the opening combination. Talk about the batting line-up after that. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul will open and I don't think that will change. It could be possible that they use Ishan Kishan somewhere in the middle order or at one down or even bring him in after Kohli. That is because he is in form and can play anywhere.

“I haven't seen him struggling against the new ball or the spinners. So, these are very good signs. He played Moeen Ali very well and he hit Adil Rashid, who is a very good leg spinner, for a plenty. But today's highlight of India's batting, someone who batted extremely beautifully, was KL Rahul. It looked like he was facing the bowling machine. He was able to hit any ball anywhere and the best part was that all of them were correct shots. He is in dangerous form currently," opined Butt.

The 40-year-old's presence will help Virat Kohli & Co. for the marquee event as the Indian team is looking to end their ICC-title drought after having last won a mega event in 2013.

For the unversed, India had won the last ICC title in 2013 under the astute leadership of Dhoni, when the Men in Blue won the Champions Trophy. Since then, they have reached the semi-finals on all occasions in the following ICC events, however, haven't been able to grab hold of the title. As India are gearing up for their tournament-opener versus Pakistan, on October 24, KL Rahul opened up on Dhoni's mentorship role for the T20 WC.

During a Clubhouse session organised by Red Bull on Tuesday, Rahul -- who had his international debut under Dhoni -- revealed, "None of us are sure that IPL 2021 final was his last game. I do not think, I would love to see MS Dhoni play for a lot more years if he could. Yeah, it was great to see how CSK played in the tournament and they were the most deserving to win it. Obviously, MS Dhoni back with the team feels amazing because we have played under him and we have looked towards him as a mentor even when he was our captain."

"We loved having him in the dressing room when he was the captain, we loved the calmness. We have all looked up to him to help us out, to have him here is amazing. This gives us a sense of calmness, I have enjoyed spending time with him in the first two to three days and it has been a lot of fun. Looking forward to chewing his brain about cricket, captaincy and all things cricket," he added.

His 24-ball 51 and Ishan Kishan's 46-ball 70 propelled Kohli & Co. to an easy 7-wicket win over the 2016 runners-up. They will now play Australia in their last warm-up game before locking horns with Pakistan.

India are in Pool B, along with Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan whereas two other teams will join from the qualifiers. It will be interesting to see how Dhoni contributes for Team India in his new role and helps the national side in winning the coveted trophy.

Virat Kohli announced his decision to step aside as the Indian captain in the shortest format ahead of the T20 World Cup 2021, in the UAE. While Kohli's decision shocked many in the cricketing fraternity, the Indian team is gearing up for the mega event with an aim to give a perfect send-off to the 32-year-old as his T20I captaincy tenure is set to end.

As Kohli is on the verge of stepping aside as T20I captain, former South African speedster Dale Steyn -- who has shared the dressing room with Kohli in Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise -- suggested who should succeed the right-hander at the top post.

While many believe Rohit Sharma -- the vice-captain in shorter formats -- is best suited to succeed King Kohli, Steyn also belives Hitman will be an ideal candidate as the Indian T20I captain.

There are just so many of these guys… Iyer, Rohit. They can all do it but you just have to give somebody that responsibility and allow them to run with it. India have been really good with it. "They have got a bunch of different people to pick from. I think the most exciting thing for India right now is that the young players that are coming through, they are all world-class players. You look at Mohammed Siraj, Rishabh Pant… these are young guys who are doing extremely well at the international level. So if you give the captaincy to Rohit, who has been around for a while… has won numerous IPLs, it will be a great call since he can nurture the youngsters," he further pointed out.

The T20 World Cup 2021 edition has commenced in the UAE. After a year-long delay, the marquee event has kicked off in the UAE, which was earlier supposed to be held in Australia in late 2020 before Covid-19 pandemic led to its postponement.

The multi-nation tournament has started with the qualifying round and warm-up encounters being held simultaneously. However, all eyes are on the India-Pakistan game as the arch-rivals will face each other in their respective tournament-openers, on October 24 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. Ahead of the marquee face-off, former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood has opined on the mouth-watering clash and stated who has an advantage going into the contest.

But realistically speaking, India does have an advantage going into this game as their players have been participating in the IPL which was played in the same venues in the UAE. So apart from playing highly competitive cricket, they also will have a good understanding of the playing conditions in the UAE."

"But let us not forget that Pakistani players have also taken part in some intense Twenty20 cricket in the recently concluded National T20 Cup which was moved due to the cancellation of the New Zealand tour. Having said that, we all know that any India-Pakistan match is generally won by the side that is most able to absorb the pressure and in a format like Twenty20, it can easily come down to just one over where a batsman or bowler can totally change the complexion of the game," he added.

Advantage India or Pakistan? Former Pak all-rounder makes BIG claim ahead of T20 WC face-off

During the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, Hardik Pandya -- along with Krunal Pandya and his wife -- had planned a trip to Ranchi to meet their beloved and former Indian captain MS Dhoni. The Pandya brothers had planned their surprise visit to Ranchi for Dhoni's 39th birthday, i.e. on July 7.

Back then, the Covid-19 pandemic had taken the whole world by surprise. After a brief halt, airlines had resumed operating but the Pandya brothers' plan to visit Dhoni amid such testing times spoke volumes about how much they adore the former Indian captain Dhoni.

In a recent interaction with ESPNcricinfo, Hardik, revealed how his surprise visit to Ranchi didn't shock Dhoni as he was already made aware of the Pandya brothers' travel plans. On being asked if Dhoni was surprised seeing him, Hardik said, "No! Because [someone from the airport staff] called him, saying Hardik and Krunal are coming. So my surprise got spoiled. Before I took off, he is like: “Are you coming here?” I said: “How did you know?” He said: “These charter people told me you’re coming. Chal, theek hai, aaja [All right, come over].

While the qualifying round is underway at the moment, the automatically-qualified teams such as India, England, Pakistan, West Indies, etc. are involved in the warm-up encounters before the main draw of the showpiece event kicks off from October 23. Ahead of the main draw, Team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya was busy shooting for an interview when he got a surprise visit by his one-year-old son. His son Agastya came searching for him and interrupted the interview in one of the most adorable ways ever. As he turned a year old this year, Hardik had shared a heartfelt note for his child along with an adorable video of some of his precious moments with Agastya. He wrote, "I cannot believe you’re ONE year old already. Agastya, you are my heart and my soul. You’ve shown me what love is more than I’ve ever known. Virat Kohli-led Team India will begin their campaign in the seventh edition of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 with their first of the two warm-up encounters, versus Eoin Morgan-led England on Monday (October 18). The one-time winners are starting their campaign versus one of the strongest contenders for the marquee title. Hence, the Men in Blue will be on their toes and eager to tick some of the boxes in the warm-up encounters before the main draw of the tournament kicks off from October 23.

For the unversed, India played their last T20I -- comprising full-strength side -- versus England in early 2021. Hence, both sides are fully aware of each other's strengths and weaknesses. What will be interesting to see is how the two teams go ahead, in terms of the team combinations, in the warm-up face-off.

For Kohli-led India, they have plenty of questions to answer. In their last game versus England, during the five-match T20Is in India in February-March, KL Rahul didn't open in the series-decider as Kohli-Rohit Sharma came out as openers. Back then, Rahul was in torrid form. Will Kohli continue as an opener despite Rahul's brilliant form in IPL 14's second and final leg in the UAE? Moreover, it will be interesting to see how many spinners get included in the India XI. At present, they have options in the form of Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Rahul Chahar and Varun Chakravarthy. Given the recent form, Varun and Jadeja seem like a certain in the XI. However, Varun's fitness was an issue in the last few games in IPL 2021. Hence, the focus will be on him.

India also have a veteran and experienced campaigner in Ashwin. However, he was off-colours in the second and final IPL 14 leg. Hence, he might not make it to the first XI so easily. The biggest factor among all will be Hardik Pandya's bowling. Will the all-rounder finally contribute with some overs? He didn't bowl a single over in IPL 14's final leg in the UAE. On the other hand, Shardul Thakur -- one of the most-successful bowlers for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2021 -- is very likely to be in India's XI for their first warm-up fixture.

The team management will also closely monitor Bhuvneshwar Kumar's form, who wasn't at his best for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the just-concluded IPL season. Lastly, Ishan Kishan returned back to form in the last few games for Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 14. Will he get a look-in as well?

India's playing XI for England warm-up tie: KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli (c), Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy

If Hardik doesn't plan to bowl, India will have to make way for another pacer; which might also prompt them to drop the 27-year-old.

Fans cannot keep calm as BCCI unveils Virat Kohli-led Team India's new jersey for T20 World Cup

Many believe Rahul Dravid, India's former captain, is the ideal candidate to replace Ravi Shastri as Team India's head coach, as the latter's tenure is coming to an end post the T20 World Cup 2021. For the unversed, Shastri has already hinted at not being willing to extend his contract despite having a very successful tenure.

As per reports, in CricTracker, Dravid has now politely turned down BCCI's offer to succeed Shastri as India's head coach. Dravid was India's stand-in coach during their limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka early this year, when Shastri-Virat Kohli & Co. were in England and Wales for the five Tests versus Joe Root & Co. Under Dravid, Shikhar Dhawan-led second-stringed Indian team won the three ODIs (2-1) versus Sri Lanka before losing the three T20Is, by the same margin, after missing plenty of players due to the Covid-crisis in the Indian camp.

However, if reports are to be believed, Dravid isn't keen on taking over as Indian team's coach at present. He is currently the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), in Bengaluru, and has impressed one and all in nurturing young talents, consolidating India's bench strength and ensuring a constant supply of players at the international level.

Not only Shastri, but bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar's terms are also coming to an end post the T20 WC. Thus, It is understood that the Sourav Ganguly-led BCCI -- as per the terms laid out under its constitution -- will now officially advertise for the post of India’s head coach closer to the end of tenure of the current staff.

Talking about Shastri, he took over as the head coach -- after Anil Kumble -- in mid-2017. Under him, India beat Australia twice in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Down Under, reached the semi-finals of the 2019 ODI World Cup and ended as runners-up in the inaugural ICC World Test Championship (WTC).

Rahul Dravid politely turns down BCCI's offer to succeed Ravi Shastri as Team India coach: Reports

Virat Kohli has been regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of the modern-era. While the 32-year-old isn't at his usual best with the bat across formats, he remains Team India's Mr. Dependable in all forms of the game and his immaculate record speaks volumes of his abilities.

Over the years, Kohli has often been compared with Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and many believe Kohli is on course to equal, or surpass, Tendulkar's record of 100 international tons. Nonetheless, former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Asif -- whose career ended prematurely after being involved in the spot-fixing saga in 2010 -- feels Kohli is nowhere 'close to Tendulkar' and managed to draw parallels between SRT and Pakistan's sensation Babar Azam

Speaking about the batting legacy of Kohli and Tendulkar on CoverDriveCricket's YouTube channel, Asif made a bold claim on the former's form and stated, "Kohli is a bottom-hand player. He is doing well because of his fitness and it is supporting him. The moment he will face a decline, I don't think Kohli can make a comeback. In fact, Babar is an upper-hand player like Sachin. His bat movement is fluent like Sachin. People say Kohli is better than Tendulkar. I say no. Virat does not even come close to Sachin. This is my opinion."

Kohli is currently involved in the IPL 2021 edition, where he is leading the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) -- who have qualified for the playoffs already. Babar, on the other hand, is gearing up to lead Pakistan in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Talking about records, Kohli has over 22,000 international runs with 70 centuries whereas Babar is way behind (coming into the scene in 2015) with 8,551 runs and 20 hundreds.

Ex-Pak pacer makes BOLD claim on Virat Kohli, draws parallels between Sachin Tendulkar and Babar Azam

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) were dealt with a massive blow when the Tom Latham-led New Zealand cricket team decide to abandon their Pakistan tour at the last minute, ahead of the series opener in Rawalpindi on September 17, citing security concerns.

Following this, the England Cricket Board (ECB) also followed New Zealand Cricket Board (NZC) and withdrew their men's and women's teams tour of Pakistan. Thus, it has led to severe consequences for Pakistan as the Asian country has suffered financially whereas their reputation has once again been hampered, just when the Men in Green were beginning to host international games at regular intervals.

Amid all this, many claimed that the BCCI had a part to play to influence NZC and ECB to cancel their respective Pakistan tours on security grounds. For the unversed, even Pakistan's minister of Information and Broadcasting, Fawad Chaudhry, claimed that the threat to New Zealand originated from India.

Now, a senior BCCI official has reacted to the accusations and slammed all such theories. "We wish Ramiz Raja good luck that Pakistan cricket reaches new heights under him. We want to clear one thing that the BCCI has no role in the cancellation of England and New Zealand tour to Pakistan,” the official said according to Cricket Pakistan.

“I don’t know why some ex-Pakistan players are cursing the IPL for no reason? I read somewhere that Raja said that the Aussie players have even changed their DNA for the sake of the money they make by playing in the IPL. He accused Aussies of playing happily against India without their usual aggressive approach. We understand that you are feeling bad but there is no need to drag India everywhere,” the official further added.
