Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals will both look to continue their winning run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 as they face each other in a crucial encounter on Friday. While DC defeated Punjab Kings in their last game, RR pulled off a hard-fought victory over Kolkata Knight Riders.

RR are currently third in the points table with Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal leading the race for the orange and purple cap respectively. Buttler was once again their best batsman as he slammed his second century in this year’s competition to guide RR to a mammoth total against KKR.

Aaron Finch and Shreyas Iyer looked quite promising but a magical four-wicket spell from Yuzvendra Chahal which included a hat-trick was enough to hand RR their fourth win in the tournament.

Similarly, DC bowlers were absolutely brilliant against Punjab Kings as four of them claimed two wickets each to bundle out the opposition for 115. In response, David Warner and Prithvi Shaw looked completely at ease as DC marched on to a nine-wicket victory and move up to the sixth spot.

DC vs RR, IPL 2022 prediction:

It is quite an even contest between the two sides on paper as both sets of batsmen have performed exceedingly well in the previous few encounters. However, the difference maker in this match can be the bowling and that is where Rajasthan Royals have a slight edge. Yuzvendra Chahal is the top wicket-taker in the competition and with veterans like Trent Boult and Ravichandran Ashwin, RR can actually get the better of the DC batting line up with names like David Warner and Rishabh Pant. The advantage is extremely small but RR will start the game as favourities against Pant & Co.

From MS Dhoni to Robin Uthappa: Players with 200 or more matches in Indian Premier League

South Africa international Aiden Markram was all praise for Sunrisers Hyderabad teammate Rahul Tripathi and back the 31-year-old to break into the Indian cricket team. Tripathi, who joined SRH for INR 85 million, is currently the top scorer for the franchise this season with 205 runs in six matches.

“I won't be surprised if he does end up in the squad. He's a really selfless person and does exactly what the team requires. Technically, he's incredibly good and he hits good cricket shots in the Powerplay and manages to score freely without taking many risks.”

Robin Uthappa has been one of the best performers for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 till now and if he is selected for the encounter against Mumbai Indians on Thursday, he will become the seventh cricketer to play 200 matches in the T20 tournament.

MS Dhoni, Dinesh Karthik, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina are the six cricketers who have played 200 matches in the Indian Premier League till now. Incidentally, Punjab Kings opener Shikhar Dhawan has also played 199 matches in the competition at the moment.

During his IPL career, Uthappa has won the title with both CSK and Kolkata Knight Riders with 4919 runs to his name with the help of 27 half centuries at an impressive strike rate of 130.93.

Uthappa is also 81 runs away from completing 5000 runs in the competition – a feat achieved by just six cricketers. In the list of batsmen with most runs in the IPL, Uthappa is currently eighth and he is 47 runs away from West Indies’ Chris Gayle who is seventh with 4965 runs in 142 matches.

Although Uthappa has scored 197 runs in six matches this season, CSK have not found much success with just one win in the competition. The defending champions are currently ninth in the points table and their weak bowling attack has come under a lot of pressure in this year’s tournament.

In the previous encounter, CSK came close to clinching the win against Gujarat Titans but a brilliant partnership between David Miller and Rashid Khan denied them the win in the final over.

IPL 2022: Robin Uthappa on cusp of multiple records as Chennai Super Kings take on Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are two of the most successful teams in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, although the two sides have won the tournament nine times between them, MI and CSK have been off to a horrible start in the ongoing season of the IPL.

While CSK have won just one game in their last six games, five-time winners MI are struggling at the bottom of the points table with not a single victory and the worst net run rate (-1.048).

The persistent problem for the two sides has been their bowling attacks with the teams not finding their proper combinations till now. The MI bowlers were completely outplayed in their last game against Lucknow Super Giants as KL Rahul slammed his third IPL century to guide his side to victory.

Similarly, CSK came really close to winning their match against Gujarat Titans but an impressive 51-ball-94 from David Miller made sure that the debutants were able to clinch the game in the final over.

MI vs CSK, IPL 2022 prediction:

It has been a disappointing season for both sides and a win will be very important for either of them to find slight momentum in the tournament. With seven losses in the competition till now, MI are having a total nightmare and as a result, CSK will be slightly ahead of them at the start of the match. The MS Dhoni-led side has shown some promise when it comes to their batting and against a weak MI bowling attack, they can march on to their second win of the IPL 2022.

MI vs CSK, IPL 2022 today match prediction: Who will win Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings clash?

Six matches and not a single win – It has been a horrible start to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season for Mumbai Indians. The five-time winners have struggled to get their team composition right and have already experienced their worst ever start to an IPL tournament.

Rohit Sharma & Co will be looking to clinch their first points of the season when they face defending champions Chennai Super Kings in a heavyweight clash at the DY Patil Stadium on Thursday.

In their previous encounter, the MI bowling attack was taken apart by KL Rahul who scored his third IPL century and although a number of Mumbai Indians batsmen got good starts, they were unable to convert them into big scores and as a result, MI fell short of the mammoth target by 18 runs.

With the team in deep trouble and reports suggesting an injury issue for fast bowler Tymal Mills, MI may end up making multiple changes to their playing Xi ahead of the CSK encounter.

Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan are expected to open the innings with Dewald Brevis and the in-form Suryakumar Yadav providing a lot of balance to the Mumbai Indian top order. The middle order will have Tilak Verma, Kieron Pollard and Tim David who is expected to replace Fabian Allen in the side.

In the bowling attack, Murugan Ashwin is expected to be the main spin option with Jaydev Unadkat partnering Jasprit Bumrah in the pace department. There are doubts over Tymal Mills following reports of an injury and Riley Meredith can be a good replacement for him because of his raw pace.

IPL 2022: Tim David to return? Mumbai Indians predicted XI against Chennai Super Kings

Australian cricket team opener David Warner has been enjoying a fine run of form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 and he was once again the top scorer for his side as Delhi Capitals registered a comfortable victory over struggling Punjab Kings in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Chasing a modest total of 116 thanks to a disciplined performance from the DC bowlers, Warner slammed 60 off just 30 balls with the help of ten boundaries and one six to guide them to victory.

Thanks to his quickfire half century, Warner completed 1000 runs against Punjab Kings (previously Kings XI Punjab) in the IPL. The Australia international became only the second cricketer to score 1000 runs against one IPL team after Rohit Sharma (against Kolkata Knight Riders).

This was the 12th half century for Warner against the Punjab franchise and when it comes to runs scored against PBKS, Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina are distant No 2 and No 3s in the list.

Warner was all praise for the DC bowlers in the post-match press conference as four of them took two wickets each to bundle out PBKS for their lowest total in the competition this year.

"I think the bowlers did a fantastic job and made it easier for us. We had to go hard in the powerplay during the chase. It was a different surface compared to the last night, but credit to our bowlers. Was grateful that we were able to get out of our rooms and play tonight," Warner said.

Mumbai Indians (MI) star Suryakumar Yadav recently recalled how skipper Rohit Sharma kept pushing him and motivating him to keep going after his goals when he was not being considered for selection in the Indian team despite his stellar performances in the domestic circuit.

Suryakumar was notching up runs consistently in domestic cricket and in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for a number of years. However, he earned the much-deserved recognition only after being roped in by Mumbai Indians (MI) ahead of IPL 2018. Suryakumar became a vital cog in the middle order for MI and has since been one of the most consistent performers for the franchise.

He played an instrumental role in MI's title triumphs in the 2019 and 2020 seasons following which he earned his maiden India call up last year. Rewarded for his consistency with the bat, Suryakumar went on to don India's jersey for the first time in the home series against England and has since become a permanent member in the limited-overs sides.

The Mumbai Indians skipper also advised the star batter to break the door with performances if it doesn't open.

'Break the door if it doesn't open': Suryakumar Yadav recalls What Rohit Sharma told him before India call up

The legendary Kapil Dev said India's policies and national interest is of utmost importance as he spoke about the resumption of the bilateral cricketing ties between India and Pakistan. India and Pakistan share one of the greatest rivalries in the history of cricket and any contest involving the two sides is watched closely by millions of fans across the globe.

The two countries have, however, stopped playing bilateral cricket between them for nearly a decade now due to the ongoing political tensions. India and Pakistan last played a bilateral series in 2013 when Pakistan visited India for a limited-overs tour. The arch-rivals have since met only in major ICC events.

When asked about the resumption of the India-Pakistan bilateral series, Kapil said the players will be ready to play any time if they are asked to take on Pakistan but the decision should be left to the government as the country's policies are of paramount importance.

“Mera opinion important nahi hai. (My opinion is not important). Government’s thought process is the most important. Only they can decide. What is important is the country’s policy. Players will be ready to play anytime. Certain policies, I think, we should leave it to the government. I think, as a sportsman and everyone, we should stand with the policy of our government," Kapil told reporters, as quoted by the Times of India.

Mumbai Indians suffered their sixth consecutive defeat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 as they were beaten by Lucknow Super Giants by eighteen runs in Mumbai on Saturday.

This is currently the worst start to an IPL season for the Rohit Sharma-led side with the previous record being five straight losses in 2014. However, in 2014, MI were able to stage a brilliant comeback from that precarious position to reach the playoff stages of the T20 competition.

MI also became the third team in the history of the tournament to lose their first six encounters.

Delhi Capitals (2013) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (2019) had previously achieved a similar unwanted feat in the competition but both the sides were able to win the seventh game of their respective seasons.

As a result, another loss for Mumbai Indians will mean that they will be the first team in IPL to lose their first seven matches and Rohit & Co will be desperate to avoid that embarrassing situation.

Next up, Mumbai Indians will take on defending champions Chennai Super Kings on Thursday.

IPL 2022: BCCI announces release of request for proposal for staging the closing ceremony

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has backed star all-rounder Ben Stokes to take over the baton from Joe Root after his resignation as the Test skipper of the England cricket team. Root stepped down as England's Test skipper on Friday (April 15) stating that the job had taken a toll on him recently after a string of poor results for his side.

Calls for Root's sacking had grown after England were thrashed 4-0 by Australia in the Ashes 2021-22 Down Under followed by a series defeat against West Indies. Root led England in the longest format for five years before bringing an end to his stint on Friday.

England are yet to officially announce Root's replacement as the next Test captain of the side but star all-rounder Ben Stokes is one of the favourites to take over. Stokes is one of the regulars across formats for England and has been producing consistent performances with the bat and the ball.

Vaughan said he doesn't see anyone else barring Stokes, who can take over England's Test captaincy from Root. The former England skipper said Stokes has a good cricketing brain and has also earned the respect of the players around him which make him an ideal candidate to lead the team going forward.

"I don't see anyone else who could take the position and be guaranteed of their place in the side," Vaughan told the BBC.

"In Ben Stokes, you have clearly got someone who has got a smart cricket brain, he's going to give it everything, he is certainly going to have the respect of the players around him," he added.

Not just Vaughan, but former England captains Nasser Hussain and Michael Atherton have also put their weight behind Stokes to take over as the next Test captain of the side. Stokes had taken an indefinite break from cricket to focus on mental health in July last year before making his comeback in the Ashes 2021-22.

The star all-rounder is currently out with an injury in his left knee but is expected to make his comeback in the County Championship for Durham next. Hussain called Stokes 'naturally gifted' but wants the England Cricket Board to be sure he wants to take up the challenge before handing him the captaincy.

"You have to be in a good place mentally and physically to do the job - and Ben has had his problems away from the field," Hussain wrote in his column for Daily Mail.

"Whoever the new director of cricket is, the first thing they must do is ... sit down with Stokes, look him in the eye and find out where he is," he added.

"In Ben Stokes, you have clearly got someone who has got a smart cricket brain, he's going to give it everything, he is certainly going to have the respect of the players around him," he added. Also Read: Joe Root steps down as England cricket team Test captain following West Indies defeat Not just Vaughan, but former England captains Nasser Hussain and Michael Atherton have also put their weight behind Stokes to take over as the next Test captain of the side. Also Read: Michael Vaughan, Ben Stokes lead tributes for Joe Root after resignation as England skipper "You have to be in a good place mentally and physically to do the job - and Ben has had his problems away from the field," Hussain wrote in his column for Daily Mail. "Whoever the new director of cricket is, the first thing they must do is ... sit down with Stokes, look him in the eye and find out where he is," he added.

'I don't see anyone else': Michael Vaughan picks Joe Root's replacement as England's Test captain

Every interaction with the late Shane Warne was a learning experience, according to India and RCB batter Virat Kohli, who felt the spin legend always had constructive conversations.

One of the all-time greats of the game, Warne died at the age of 52 due to a suspected heart attack in Thailand on March 4.

"I have tried to copy his actions at some stage or the other. That's the impact he had on the game of cricket, and he was an amazing human being as well. I had a chance to speak to him quite a bit off the field as well," Kohli said on RCB Bold Diaries.

"He was always positive and none of his conversations were random. It was always constructive, that you can learn from and spoke very passionately about Test cricket and cricket in general, he just loved the game."

The Australian was a spin wizard who made the world fall in love with his craft. He is credited with reviving the art of leg-spin bowling. He took 708 wickets from 145 Tests, in an illustrious career spanning 15 years.

Warne's death came as a shock not just to the cricket community but beyond.

"It was a shock to everyone, but we can just smile and look back at his cricketing career, his achievements, and his life, he lived the way he wanted to live.

"He is probably the most confident personality that I have met, I am grateful that I have got to know him a little bit off the field as well," Kohli added.

For compatriot Glenn Maxwell, Warne was a "hero" growing up, who changed the perception of spin bowling.

Joe Root stepped down as the England cricket team Test captain on Friday following series defeats in the Ashes series against Australia and the recently concluded close series against West Indies.

Root had a number of ups and down since taking over the captaincy role back in 2017 and he led the England side in Test cricket on 64 occasions. Following the loss against West Indies, a number of former skippers turned against him and asked for him to step down from the captaincy role.

Babar Azam has been a consistent performer for Pakistan in the recent past and the right-hander batsman has proven his mettle against almost every opposition in world cricket at the moment.

Azam is the current Test skipper for Pakistan and he led the team by example in the recently concluded games against Australia. He was able to score consecutive hundreds in the ODI series to guide his side to a 2-1 victory and in the Test series, he was the hero for his side once again as he scored a gritty 196 in the fourth innings of the second Test encounter in Karachi to save the match.

The 27-year-old has won a number of fans around the world with his consistent show for Pakistan and it seems like South Africa legend Dale Steyn is one of them.

During a Q&A session on Twitter, the former Proteas pacer was asked to pick one batsman who can be called the best batter among the new generation of players across formats and he was quick to take the name of Azam while calling the Pakistan cricketer ‘pretty darn good.’

Thanks to his brilliant performances against Australia, Azam moved up to the 15th spot in the all-time Test ratings overtaking India legend Sachin Tendulkar in the process. While Tendulkar had 887 rating points, Azam currently has 891 points to his name in the all-time ICC ODI batsmen rankings.

The Pakistan international also went on to win the ICC Player of the Month Award for March 2022.

It has been a horrible start to the Indian Premier League (IPL) season for both Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. The two franchises, who have won a combined nine IPL titles, are sitting at the bottom of the points table at the moment with MI not registering a single win till now.

Former Indian cricket team opener Aakash Chopra said on Thursday that both teams are suffering due to weak bowling attacks and he believes that the heavyweight sides will not reach the playoffs.

"Both CSK and MI have ordinary bowling attacks. Although they have come back from a similar situation, if you keep on playing the same team hoping something suddenly will change then that's not possible. MI will need to change their XI while CSK bowling needs to click. But I don't see them going through," Chopra said on his YouTube channel while speaking about their playoff chances.

Chennai Super Kings were on a four-match losing run but they were able to register their win of the tournament as they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in a high-scoring encounter. Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa were the stars with the bat as CSK were post a mammoth total.

IPL 2022: Former India opener has his say on Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians' playoff chances

It has been a disappointing show by Mumbai Indians till now in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 but there was some good news for Rohit Sharma during the match against Punjab Kings.

The Mumbai Indians skipper became the second Indian batsman in history to score 10,000 in T20 cricket with a six off Kagiso Rabada in the third over of their innings. The only other cricketer from India to achieve this massive feat in Royal Challengers Bangalore ex-skipper Virat Kohli.

Overall, there are just five other cricketers around the world who have scored 10,000 runs in the shortest format of the sport. West Indies batsman Chris Gayle tops the list followed by Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik, Kieron Pollard and the Australia duo of Aaron Finch and David Warner.

Although the milestone is a big addition to Rohit’s illustrious career, it remains clear that the swashbuckling cricketer has failed to score big in the competition till now. With Ishan Kishan as his opening partner, Rohit has stitched together some good partnerships but results remain the same.

Mumbai Indians have not won any of their five opening matches in the tournament – making them the only side in history to achieve this unwanted record on two different occasions. The first time was in 2014 when they bounced back to qualify for the play-off stages of the IPL.

Shikhar Dhawan was the star with the bat for Punjab Kings as they posted 198/5 in 20 overs and in reply, MI fell 12 runs short despite good knocks from Suryakumar Yadav and Dewald Brevis.

IPL 2022: Rohit Sharma achieves impressive T20 milestone, joins Virat Kohli in elite list

Former Australia batsman Shane Watson picked Virat Kohli as the first name when asked about the Top 5 batsman in Test cricket right now. Kohli has not enjoyed the best run of form in the recent past but Watson placed him ahead of Steve Smith, Kane Williamson and Babar Azam.

During the ‘ICC Review’ show, Watson was asked to give his list for the five top batsmen in the longest format of the game and he picked the ‘superhuman’ Kohli as his top pick.

"In Test match cricket, I am always going to say Virat Kohli. It's nearly superhuman, what he is able to do because he has such high intensity every time he goes out to play,” he told Isa Guha.

In second place, he went with Pakistan’s Babar Azam who has proven his mettle in the last few series against various oppositions and Watson praised his adaptability while playing Test cricket.

"Babar Azam is playing incredibly well. It's great to be able to see how he has adapted his game to really move his game to Test cricket as well. Babar Azam would probably be No.2 at the moment."

Compatriot Steve Smith found himself in the third position according to Watson’s list but New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson was placed one place lower due to his recent injury issues.

"Kane Williamson has had a few elbow issues. Kane knows his game inside out and knows how to put pressure on bowlers in any conditions," Watson explained.
