Gujarat Titans will be aiming to get back to their winning way as they take on Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 table toppers Rajasthan Royals on Thursday. Hardik Pandya &amp; Co won the first three matches of the competition but were beaten by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the previous encounter.

The bowling department of Gujarat Titans has been the strength of the side in the tournament but with the trio of Mohammed Shami, Lockie Ferguson and Rashid Khan failing to pick wickets in the last game, SRH did not face many problems in chasing down a below-par target.

When it comes to the batting, it was a disappointing show from the Gujarat Titans top order as Pandya was only one who scored big against the disciplined display from the SRH bowlers.

Against Rajasthan Royals, Matthew Wade and Shubman Gill are expected to open the batting but the presence of Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the squad will be a constant pressure on Wade.

Sai Sudharsan and Hardik Pandya will be the solid pillars of the middle order with the duo of David Miller and Rahul Tewatia provided the firepower. Abhinav Manohar is also expected to retain his position in the playing XI.

It has been a disastrous Indian Premier League (IPL) season for Mumbai Indians. The five-time winners of the competition went into the mega auction with a strategy that surprised a number of people and came out with a completely new-look side with a few old players in the mix.

The loss of key players like Hardik Pandya, Trent Boult and Quinton de Kock was already a place of concern for the side but the inability of the existing players to step up the challenge has resulted in Rohit Sharma &amp; Co losing all five of their opening matches in the ongoing season of the competition.

On Wednesday, Mumbai Indians were able to produce a number of good performances with the bat against Punjab Kings but they once again fell short and ultimately slumped to their fifth defeat.

This was the second time in the history of the competition that Mumbai Indians lost their first five matches in a row with the first instance taking place in 2014. Apart from Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered this fate in 2019, Delhi Capitals in 2013 and Deccan Chargers in 2012.

However, there is a bit of solace for the Mumbai Indians as they were able to turn their season around in 2014 despite losing the first five games. They came back with a strong show towards the latter half of the season and were even able to qualify for the play-off stages of the tournament.

Andrew McDonald has been appointed head coach of Australia in all three formats for the next four years after overseeing their test series victory in Pakistan in a caretaker role.

McDonald had served as an assistant under Justin Langer since 2019 and took the reins in Pakistan after Langer declined the offer of a short-term contract extension and resigned.

The 40-year-old former test all-rounder had been widely expected to take the head coach role on a permanent basis.

"We interviewed several excellent candidates for this role, which is one of the most important in Australian sport," CA boss Nick Hockley said.

"Andrew has already shown he is an outstanding head coach and the vision he outlined for the role during the appointment process was both impressive and exciting, making him our clear choice."

McDonald will lead Australia through a busy year which includes test tours of Sri Lanka and India, and the T20 side`s World Cup defence on home soil.

"The journey so far has been particularly pleasing, and I am honoured to be given this incredible opportunity for what is an exciting period ahead," McDonald said.

McDonald, who expressed concerns in February about the workload of coaching in all formats, will be given the option of skipping certain white ball series to rest.

"I think the great challenge for coaches and players is to manage your workload across the four years, being my term at the moment," he told reporters at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Wednesday.

"But I`d like to think that I`ve got coaching staff around that can step up.

"We can elevate certain coaches at different times to take on different tours and different challenges and whilst we`re doing that it`s growing the depth of our coaching staff."

The memorable 2011 ODI World Cup triumph is one of the greatest moments in the history of Indian cricket. MS Dhoni-led India had defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets in a thrilling final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to bring an end to a 28-year-long drought for India's second ODI World Cup trophy.

In the final, India chased down the target of 276 runs with the help of two exceptional knocks from Gautam Gambhir and skipper Dhoni. While Gambhir set the stage for India's win with a stunning 97 off 122 balls, Dhoni slammed an unbeaten 91 off 79 balls to bag the Man of the Match award in the memorable summit clash.

Besides his unbeaten 91, Dhoni's iconic six to finish off the run chase against Sri Lanka in the final is etched in the memories of every Indian cricket fan. The former India captain has often been lauded by many for his exceptional leadership and amazing knock in the final which helped India win the 2011 ODI World Cup.

However, Dhoni getting praised for India's World Cup win hasn't gone down well with several former cricketers who were part of the World Cup-winning side. Recently, former India spinner Harbhajan Singh questioned Dhoni getting all the credit for India's 2011 World Cup triumph and asked if the other ten players were there just to 'drink lassi'.

It all started when former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif pointed out how Delhi Capitals had played their first-ever IPL final under now-KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer in 2020. Harbhajan didn't quite agree with Kaif's comments and asked - “Were the rest of the players playing gulli-danda?" before he went on to bring up the example of Dhoni getting credit for India's 2011 World Cup victory.

"It’s a team game. When 7-8 players play well only then only your team will progress," the former India spinner added.

Shimron Hetmyer lived up to his Rs 8.5 crore price tag with a six-hitting exhibition before Yuzvendra Chahal and Trent Bout displayed their wizardry with the ball as Rajasthan Royals outwitted Lucknow Super Kings by three runs in an IPL game here on Sunday.

Invited to bat, star West Indies batter Hetmyer smashed an unbeaten 36-ball 59 to lift RR from 67 for four to 165 for six in 20 overs.

Trent Boult (2/30) then struck twice in a sensational opening over, while Chahal (4/41) picked up four wickets to achieve the feat of claiming 150 IPL victims but Marcus Stoinis blasted two fours and four maximums in his unbeaten 38 off 17 balls to conjure up hopes of a turnaround.

But Kuldeep Sen, making his IPL debut, showed great nerves as he defended 15 runs in the last over as RR limited LSG to 162 for eight. With this win, RR bounced back from their four wicket loss to RCB in the last match to take the top position in the IPL standings, while LSG slipped to fifth spot.

Defending the total, Boult produced a ripping late inswinging yorker to dismiss KL Rahul for a first-ball duck, before trapping Krishnappa Gowtham plumb in front in the opening over as LSG slipped to 1 for 2.

Prasidh Krishna then got rid of Jason Holder with a back of a length delivery which took a top-edge and balloned to Ravichandran Ashwin at mid-on. Madhya Pradesh pacer Sen made an impressive IPL debut as he disturbed the woods of Deepak Hooda to leave LSG at 52 for four.

The wily Chahal then got into the act as he first foxed young Ayush Badoni (5), and then had Quinton de Kock (39) holed out to Riyan Parag and knocked back the leg stump of Krunal Pandya (22) as RR put one foot in the door.

Needing 34 runs off 12 balls, Stoinis accumulated 19 of Krishna in the puenltimate over but Sen held his nerves and gave away just one run in the first four balls to shine on his debut.

Earlier, Jos Buttler (13) and Devdutt Padikkal (29) added 42 runs in five overs but they lost three wickets in a 15-ball burst to be reduced to 67 for four at one stage.

If Buttler was castled by Avesk Khan in his first ball, Gowtham produced a two-wicket burst, removing Devdutt Padikkal and Rasie Van der Dussen (4) in a space of five balls on a track where the ball was holding.

Paddikal, who replaced Yashsavi Jaiswal at the top, lived dangerously before paying the price for a reverse sweep as his top-edge landed in the safe hands of Holder, handing Gowtham also a first-ball wicket.

The left-handed batter survived an LBW appeal in the first over off Dushmantha Chameera before being dropped by Ravi Bishnoi (0/29). Sanju Samson (13) played two nice shots before being stuck on the pads by a full toss from Jason Holder (2/50).

RR could have been in more danger but Krunal Pandya dropped a dolly at long-on in the 14th over to hand a reprieve to Hetmyer. It allowed the West Indian join hands with Ashwin to rebuild the innings with a 68-run stand before the latter was strategically retired out by the RR camp in the slog overs.

The West Indian paced his innings well before going for the shots at the back end as RR amassed 50 runs in the last three overs.

Hetmyer launched into compatriot Holder in the 18th over, clobbering him over deep mid-wicket to bring up the 50-run stand, before sending one fine down the leg-side and then plundering him down the ground. The over yieled 18 runs.

He next hit two sixes of Avesh, before launching Holder for another maximum in the last over. Rayan Parag, who came in after Ashwin was retired out, also deposited one over deep square leg as the last two overs yielded 16 runs each.

The BCCI Apex Council will review the probe committee's report concerning India wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha, who had accused journalist Boria Majumdar of intimidating him, at its meeting on April 23.

The BCCI had formed a three-member panel comprising vice-president Rajeev Shukla, treasurer Arun Dhumal and Apex Council member Prabhtej Bhatia to probe Saha's allegation.

The 37-year-old India discard appeared before the Committee last month and so did the accused journalist Majumdar and presented their respective versions. Saha had alleged that Majumdar intimidated him for not giving him an interview.

BCCI is expected to close the matter at the Apex Council meeting.

"Review of the Committee report on issue concerning Mr Wriddhiman Saha," read item no.4 on the meeting agenda which is in PTI's possession.

Majumdar on his part had claimed that Saha had "doctored" the WhatsApp screenshots of the chats he had with him before putting it on social media, triggering a massive controversy.

A centrally-contracted player, Saha had posted a series of tweets on February 23 against the then unnamed journalist, who happened to be Majumdar.

Saha was told by head coach Rahul Dravid in South Africa that he was no longer in the scheme of things and this classified information was revealed by the cricketer himself.

Saha has played 40 Tests since making his debut in 2010 and for the last few years he was in the team as the reserve wicketkeeper with Rishabh Pant rising to become the number one choice in all conditions.

Other items in seven-point meeting agenda include "hosting fee and participation fee for multi-day tournaments and resolution for updating of bank signatories".

The members are also expected to finalise the venues for the knock-out stages of Ranji Tophy which will be held post the Indian Premier League from May 30 to June 26.

IPL 2022: Will Hardik Pandya make any changes? Gujarat Titans predicted XI against Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad will be aiming to continue their winning run in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 as they take on Gujarat Titans on Monday. It was a good bowling performance from SRH as they kept taking wickets at regular intervals to stop CSK’s run flow and it was crucial in restricting them to a below-par total. In response, Abhishek Sharma scored an impressive fifty while Tripathi and Williamson provided perfect support to him.

IPL 2022: Rajasthan Royals vs Lucknow Super Giants - Head-to-head record, trivia, stats and squads

Rajasthan Royals will be aiming to get back to winning ways as they take on tournament debutants Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Sunday. After two brilliant victories in the competition, Sanju Samson &amp; Co succumbed to a loss against Royal Challengers Bangalore.<o:p></o:p>

Batting has been a strong point for the Royals as Jos Buttler looks in brilliant form with Sanju Samson, Shimron Hetmyer and Devdutt Pallikal getting good starts in multiple matches. On paper, the bowling is excellent but they failed to defend a good total against the RCB onslaught.

Against Lucknow Super Giants, Jos Buttler is once again expected to open the innings with youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal with Devdutt Pallikal looking to regain his form at the No. 3 batting position.<o:p></o:p>

Skipper Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer will be part of the strong middle order and if Buttler &amp; Co can give a good start to the team, they will be free to play their natural aggressive game.<o:p></o:p>

The unbeaten Gujarat Titans (GT) locked horns with the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in match 16 of the IPL 2022 edition on Friday evening (April 08), at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. In the last ball of the high-scoring thriller, GT thrashed PBKS by six wickets to remain the only unbeaten team in the competition and occupy the second spot in the points table.&nbsp;

Opting to bowl first, Hardik &amp; Co. removed Punjab skipper Mayank Agarwal for cheap whereas Jonny Bairstow also departed early into the pavillion in his debut game for the franchise.&nbsp;Shikhar Dhawan, becoming the first Indian to slam 1,000-plus fours in T20s, got a start once again before perishing for a 30-ball 35 as the onus fell on Liam Livingstone. His entertaining 27-ball 64 -- filled with 7 fours and 4 sixes at 237.04 -- propelled PBKS to 189-9 (reeling at&nbsp;162-9 at one stage) along with vital cameos from Jitesh Sharma, Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Chahar. In reply, GT's innings was single-handedly held by Shubman. Mayank rotated his bowlers but to no avail and Chahar's rusty spell proved to be decisive (1 for 41). However, the spinner conceded only five runs off his penultimate&nbsp;over and also removed Sai to change the course of the contest. Gill, too, slowed down a bit towards the end of his innings as Kagiso Rabada removed him in the nervous 90s whereas Arshdeep Singh's last two overs brought Punjab back. Hardik also returned for a 25-ball 17 in the last over with 18 needed off the last five&nbsp;balls.

Nonetheless, Sharjah King Rahul Tewatia -- who had stunned Punjab in a 220-plus high-scorer in IPL 2020 -- once again came in the middle of Punjab and victory. His 3-ball 13*, with 12 off the last two deliveries, effortlessly sealed the deal for Gujarat in an emphatic run-chase.

“I never told this story, from today everyone will know. I never shared this. This dates back to 2013 when I was with Mumbai Indians we had a match in Bangalore. There was a get-together after that. Australian cricket team all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was all praise for Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf Du Plessis and said that having him in the top order is great for any franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL).<o:p></o:p>

"We're really happy with Faf (du Plessis) at the helm. We think he's going to do a great job for the franchise and even the way he started, you can tell that he's got the respect of everyone in the room. Not only does he lead by example with his actions; but he also performs really well. To have a guy of his quality at the top of the order is something that's great for the franchise," Maxwell said in a video of the 'Bold Diaries' series on Thursday.

Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya had a major fallout while representing Baroda in the 2020/21 domestic season. It resulted in Deepak shifting base from Baroda to Rajasthan in the 2021/22 season. However, fate had other things in mind as the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) franchise roped in both of them in the IPL 2022 mega auction.

Deepak and Krunal's inclusion in the Lucknow franchise surely made heads turn. Since Lucknow's opening game in the ongoing 15th season, all eyes have been on their camaraderie and equation on the field. In the franchise's maiden outing, versus the Gujarat Titans (GT), both seemed to have moved on from their past fallout as they hugged each other on-field and were comfortable in each other's presence.

Dwelling on his equation with Krunal, Hooda&nbsp;told&nbsp;Dainik Jagran recently, "Krunal Pandya is like my brother, and brothers do fight. We are playing with one aim, which is to win games for LSG."

Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has said he doesn't want his son to become a cricketer despite his interest in the sport. Sarfaraz is one of Pakistan's most successful captains having led the team to a memorable Champions Trophy triumph in 2017. Pakistan had defeated arch-rivals India in the final to clinch the Champions Trophy title that year.

Sarfaraz led Pakistan across all formats for a number of years and also has a terrific record as captain in T20Is having won 29 and lost just 8 matches for Pakistan in the shortest format. He was sacked from captaincy post the team's debacle in the 2019 ODI World Cup with Babar Azam getting appointed as the new skipper.

Having dealt with several highs and lows in his cricketing career and having witnessed the kind of mental and physical stress a cricketer has to endure in his career, Sarfaraz doesn't want his son Abdullah to follow in his footsteps in the game.

"Abdullah is passionate about playing cricket. But, I don't want him to become a cricketer," Sarfaraz was quoted as saying to a news channel by Cricket Pakistan.&nbsp;

"Actually, being a cricketer, I suffered many things that I don't want Abdullah to face. It's human nature. Being a cricketer, I want my brother or son to be selected immediately. Otherwise, it hurts," he explained.

Sarfaraz made his debut for Pakistan in the year 2007 but it took him several years to cement his spot in the side before being appointed as the captain of the side. The wicket-keeper batter has so far played 49 Tests, 117 ODIs and 61 T20Is in his international career amassing 2657, 2315 and 818 runs in the three formats respectively.

Despite being a pretty successful cricketer himself, Sarfaraz wants his son to stay away from the game and achieve his dreams himself. The former Pakistan captain revealed how the likes of former Pakistan cricketer Moeen Khan and Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza have praised Abdulla's cricketing skills in the past.

"A lot of people said to me that Abdullah is talented and I should let him play cricket. Moin Bhai had praised Abdullah's skills, also, Sania Mirza once told me that Abdullah has the potential to become a cricketer. But, I want him to achieve his goals by working hard. Nobody should give him an easy way just because he is my son," said Sarfaraz.

The former Pakistan captain is no more a regular member of the Pakistan squad in any format of the game ever since the arrival of Mohammad Rizwan. Rizwan is currently Pakistan's first-choice wicket-keeper across formats and has been doing well with the bat as well.

Sarfaraz managed to play only one ODI for Pakistan last year where he scored 13 runs, and a T20I game where he got 6 runs. He has been playing regularly in the Pakistan domestic circuit.

Lucknow Super Giants` all-rounder Deepak Hooda said although he played a good knock of 51 off 33 balls, he was disappointed in not being able to capitalise in the last five overs.

Lucknow were in trouble at 27/3 in 4.5 overs. But Hooda played a blistering knock, laced with three fours and as many sixes to lift Lucknow to 169/7 in 20 overs.

"Innings was good but was disappointed that I couldn`t do my role of capitalising in the last five overs. But happy with 170-odd. To be honest I didn`t think about Orange Cap (missed out by 17 runs)," said Hooda in a mid-innings chat with broadcasters Star Sports.

Hooda stitched a crucial partnership of 87 off 62 balls with Rahul, who top-scored with 68 off 50 balls. "(We) Thought of a good total. Rahul and I were set, we were getting runs, and we wanted to cash in. Rahul told me it`s a good wicket and to give myself time and that straight-bat shots are going to prove good," stated Hooda.

In Hooda`s terrific knock, 26 runs came through off-side while the rest of 25 runs were hit through leg-side. Out of his 51 runs, 27 runs came through using the pace of tearaway quick Umran Malik with fours slammed through long-on, cover and point while the sixes were hit over fine leg and third man.

"Self belief and self confidence are both high. I prepare myself as every day as a new game anyway. It`s a decent total, and the balls that are delivered into the wicket are skidding a little low and not coming on well," concluded Hooda.

Ishan Kishan is rising in stature with each passing year due to his fearless striking and keeping skills, for both Team India and Mumbai Indians (MI). Like every keeper-batter in India idolises MS Dhoni, Ishan is no exception. However, Ishan and Dhoni have never shared a dressing room for India and even in the IPL.

Nonetheless, Dhoni and Ishan have been in the same XI while representing the Jharkhand team. When Ishan-Dhoni were part of Jharkhand a Vijay Hazare Trophy, the youngster was left clueless and puzzled with his senior pro's hand-gestures on the field. Ishan revealed the hilarious incident during the second episode of Breakfast With Champions Season 7 with host Gaurav Kapur.

Even then, Dhoni was like (imitating Dhoni’s hand gestures again). I was like ‘kidhar jau bhai main?’ (Where should I go)," the MI opener added.

At present, both Dhoni and Ishan are involved in the IPL 2022 edition. While Dhoni has stepped down as the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain, Ishan is leading the charge for MI with two successive half-centuries in the five-time champions' opening two games. So far, both CSK and MI are winless in the 15th season.

MI star Ishan Kishan shares a hilarious incident on how MS Dhoni's hand-gestures left him puzzled

Mumbai Indians (MI) star Ishan Kishan was the most expensive pick at the IPL 2022 mega auction in February earlier this year. Kishan has lived up to his Rs 15.25 crore (152.5 million) &nbsp;price tag with back-to-back half-centuries in the first two games and is currently among the highest run-getters so far in IPL 2022.

Mumbai Indians had gone all out at the IPL 2022 mega auction earlier this year to ensure they can get Ishan back after releasing him. The wicket-keeper batter saw teams engage in a huge bidding war for him as he ended up becoming the costliest buy at the auction. He was finally picked up by Mumbai Indians for a staggering amount.

It was not the first time Mumbai Indians had shelled out big money to buy Ishan at the IPL auction. In 2018, the four-time champions had first signed the young keeper batter for a sum of Rs 6.2 crore (INR 62 million). It was a huge amount at the time as Kishan was yet to prove his credentials in the IPL.

"I was chilled out. It was my auction, I should be stressed about it. I had gone to play football with my friends. When the auction ended I got a call from Monu Bhai. He is telling me what all happened at the auction. I was like it's good I have been sold for good money, I should go home and meet everyone," Ishan said on the show.

"I went home and saw that mom is on the call, cheeks red and on a call. I saw that dad wasn't even there. I asked where is dad? She said, 'He has gone to the hospital to check his BP'. I am thinking 'what has happened to my family?' (Laughs)," he revealed as he spoke about his parents' reaction.

The wicket-keeper batter, who hails from Bihar, revealed his family members couldn't control their tears and everyone was crying when they first heard the news of his selection for Team India last year.

"Everyone was crying. Who would I talk on the phone? When I got selected in the Indian team, I called my mom. She was crying. Then I heard that even my dad was getting all emotional. But I get it. They have seen their son work hard and when he finally gets it, they will surely be happy," said Ishan.
