An old video of the BTS has been doing the rounds of the internet where band member Suga can be seen breaking down. Turns out the video dates back to 2016 and had Suga's parents in the audience.

Suga saw his parents at the concert and broke down in tears and bowed. The clip also has Jimin comforting him as he continued to cry.

K-pop boyband BTS is a global phenomenon now but their road to success has ot been easy. They have faced many roadblocks and not every band member's parents were okay with them turning musicians and record producers. And so Suga getting emotional about watching his parents in the audience had relevance.

In an old interview with Rolling Stone, the rapper revealed that his parents had never understood rap, as it ‘wasn’t part of the music they listened to’. “My parents didn’t understand rap. They are a generation apart from myself, and they never listened to rap; it wasn’t part of the music that they listened to. So it’s only natural they were against what I was doing. And, of course, being a musician is a very unstable profession as well.”

The rapper added that he understood where his parents came from, and this actually helped him to work harder. “So I can understand perfectly why my parents were against what I was doing. But I think that motivated me or helped me work harder because there was something that I now had to prove. I had to show my parents it was possible. So it drove and motivated me to work even harder.”
A spokesperson from the South Korean Presidential Office announced the appointment decision was made keeping the mind to “raise awareness on global agendas, such as sustainable development, to future generations and to strengthen the nation's diplomatic power across the world in line with South Korea’s elevated status in the International community.” “The appointment is a part of an attempt to broaden the nation’s diplomatic spectrum and enhance the international standing of the nation that brings to light global issues through collaborations with individuals who perform outstanding activities around the world.” Not just UN, the newly appointed role will ensure that the band attends various conferences around the world. BTS has attended the the UN General Assembly twice before due to their association with the anti-violence campaign with UNICEF. In 2018, band member RM gave a moving speech at the 73rd Assembly, prompting praises from diplomats, the general public, and fans around the world. For the 75th Assembly, which took place last year, the band attended the event virtually and shared their message through a video bringing comfort to people. This year too they will be back at the United Nations General Assembly to “share a message of hope and comfort to young people."

BTS tops Billboard Hot 100 songs list with new song 'Permission To Dance'

BTS recently released soundtrack 'Permission to Dance' is the new internet sensation, but seems like the South Korean government has a different perception on the song.

The government has put a ban on BTS' new hit track in Seoul's gyms and the reason is actually beneficial for people. Everyone loves speedy and energetic songs during the workout but, as per the rules, the tracks above a certain speed will be banned as they cited -- the songs are potentially dangerous for exercise during the pandemic and to stop the spread of Covid-19 infections.

The new and unusual rule by Health Officials in South Korea says music with a higher BPM (beats per minute) count of 120 is banned to be played during group exercises such as aerobic, spin classes and also to prevent fast breathing and sweating onto other people.

The newly released K-pop hits, BTS’s Permission to Dance is 127bpm, which means a big no! But the good news for BTS fans is that BTS’ other new track 'Butter' is not on the list of banned tunes.

Responding to the ban, Kang Hyun-ku, a gym owner, told Reuters, “Playing bright tracks is to cheer up our members and the overall mood, but my biggest question is whether playing classical music or songs by [the boyband] BTS has been proved to have any impact on spreading the virus,”
He added, “Many people use their own earphones and wearable devices these days, and how do you control their playlists?”

As 'Friends' fans in China tuned in on Thursday to watch the special reunion episode, they were in for a surprise. The country's top streaming platforms censored nearly six minutes of material from the special episode which included footage of Lady Gaga, BTS, Justin Bieber and even a few gay fans of the series speaking about how special the show was.

According to a report in Variety, the platforms also omitted a portion where Matt LeBlanc was seen wearing his underwear and references to pee in one of the episodes.

'Friends' reunion review: The one where everyone gets nostalgic and emotional

The American sitcom enjoys a huge fan following in the country. When the reunion was announced, much like fans in other parts of the world, many in China expressed their excitement on social media platforms ahead of the premiere of the episode.

Many, though, were left shocked to find that all three of the country's major streaming platforms- which had bought the rights to broadcast the show- iQiyi, Alibaba’s Youku and Tencent Video- had cut out portions that featured BTS, Lady Gaga and Justin Timberlake and some other portions of the show.

Musicians Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and K-pop boyband BTS have been embroiled in controversy in China in the past.

In October 2020, BTS was slammed by Chinese nationalists for insulting their country when the band failed to mention the sacrifices of Chinese soldiers in the Korean War in an acceptance speech. The band spoke after receiving a prize that celebrated its contribution to building US-Korea relations. The award had no direct link to China.

Gaga, meanwhile, has been a persona non grata in China ever since she met the Dalai Lama in 2016. Beijing accuses the Nobel Peace Prize laureate of being a dangerous separatist.

Bieber irked China back in 2014 for photographing himself visiting Tokyo’s controversial Yasukuni war shrine, a site that honours Japanese World War II war criminals alongside other casualties of war.

In 2017, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture formally banned him from performing in the country, citing “a series of bad behaviors” both on- and off-stage.

The three musicians featured in the reunion special on Thursday. Lady Gaga sang with Lisa Kudrow the iconic song 'Smelly Cat'. Only Kudrow's portion was kept by the Chinese platforms and Gaga's bit was completely omitted.

BTS spoke about the influence the show has on all of them, with RM mentioning how it helped him in learning English. The entire portion was omitted.

So was Bieber's walk on the ramp dressed as 'Spudnik' - a costume from the show.

That's not all.

The streaming platforms also omitted portions from the fan segment that features members of the LGBTQ community. One fan from Germany said how the show helped him when he was lonely.

"I was a gay man who wanted to have hair like Jennifer Aniston, so you can imagine how lonely I sometimes felt," he says. The portion was omitted by all three platforms.

Youku also deleted a subsequent scene in which a woman pulls her girlfriend on camera. “Like every Chandler, I found my Monica,” she says.

The platform also cut shots where in one blooper reel Matt LeBlanc, who played Joey on the show, is seen wearing an underwear with David Schwimmer's photo taped in the front.

iQiyi and Tencent both censored a popular scene where Joey and Chandler recount how they peed on Monica to overcome a severe jellyfish sting as the other friends gasp in horror.

'Friends' reunion: Cast reveals their will be no public reunion again Gaga, meanwhile, has been a persona non grata in China ever since she met the Dalai Lama in 2016. Also read: Lady Gaga to BTS: 'Friends' reunion was a starry affair BTS spoke about the influence the show has on all of them, with RM mentioning how it helped him in learning English. The one where they all look back: Major revelations made during the 'Friends' reunion Youku also deleted a subsequent scene in which a woman pulls her girlfriend on camera.
"Let's never lose hope." This is the message from the South Korean music sensation BTS to their fans, known as ARMY, in India as the nation grapples with the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

The group enjoys a massive following in India and is yet to tour the country.

Asked if there was a message for the ARMY in the country amid the pandemic, member V told PTI in an email interaction, "Our prayers are with India. Stay strong ARMY and let's never lose hope."

The septet, also comprising RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, and Jungkook, recently released their second English single ‘Butter’.

The groovy disco-pop summer track smoothly crossed 113 million views on YouTube in the first 24 hours of its release on Friday, besting the 98.3 million public views counter-mark for the band's Grammy-nominated maiden English single ‘Dynamite’.

In the run-up to the release of ‘Butter’, BTS floated the concept art of the song which had a melting heart at its centre.

Asked what was the idea behind this single, Jimin (25) said the members were looking for a song with a summer vibe, something they could enjoy with everyone.

"We wanted a summer song that we can enjoy together with ARMY and everyone. And 'Butter' was the perfect fit," he said.

"It's a song brimming with the charms of BTS, so I hope everyone enjoys it!" V, 25, added.

The group is set to deliver the first on-stage performance of ‘Butter’ at the upcoming Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), where they have yet again been nominated for the top social artist honour, the award they have been winning since 2017.

They are also nominated in the top duo/group, top song sales artist and top selling song (‘Dynamite’) categories.

In 2019, BTS -- the full name is Bangtan Sonyeondan (Bulletproof Boy Scouts) or Beyond The Scene, their English branding -- also became the only South Korean group to win the top duo/group award at the BBMAs.

It is a special feeling to return to the music gala after having such a memorable run at the charts last year for ‘Dynamite’, their career's first Billboard Hot 100 No 1 hit.

It is an honour to perform ‘Butter’ at the BBMAs, said Suga.

"One of the most memorable moments last year was when we got our first number one song on the Billboard's Hot 100 chart. So it's an honour to perform 'Butter' for the first time at the awards show that bears such a special meaning for us," the 28-year-old added.

Jung Kook, the youngest BTS member, said he hopes ARMY likes their act.

"As we always do, we prepared a spectacular performance for this year's BBMAs too. So I hope our fans like it," the 23-year-old said.

Although the optimism of ‘Dynamite’ was exactly what ARMY around the world needed last year during peak pandemic, there were other songs in the band's 2020 album 'Map of the Soul: 7' like 'ON' and 'Black Swan' that the group's fans believed also deserved a nod at the Grammy Awards.

When asked to comment, group leader RM said while these awards recognise some of the most ambitious projects in music, not getting a nod at the Grammys or any other music awards "doesn't mean that song is less valuable".

" 'ON' and 'Black Swan' delivered a deep message that we held in our seventh year into our careers, and that itself is invaluable," the 26-year-old said.

Their label HYBE Corporation, previously known as Big Hit Entertainment, last month acquired American record executive Scooter Braun's Ithaca Holdings, which is home to artists like Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Demi Lovato.

Asked what surprises are in store for ARMY following this development, while nothing was decided yet, J-Hope teased that this partnership will open doors to many more opportunities.

"One thing we can promise for sure are amazing and unforgettable performances, so be on the lookout," the 27-year-old said.

Jin, 28, said like ARMY, he too was looking forward to more surprises.

"I honestly think possibilities are endless because all these things are not something that we did alone, but we did together with our ARMY," he added.

BTS debuted in 2013 and to mark their eight year anniversary, the group announced a special two-day event, 'BTS 2021 Muster SOWOOZOO' in June.

Asked how the future looks for the septet, Suga said they want to stay together and continue making good music.

"We want to connect with everyone around the world with great music and stages, and keep going as a group," he added.

After a towering success for Korean pop band since their global fame, the boy band has now swept up all possible world records. In The World Albums chart, BTS’s singles rock five spots, giving them control over an astounding 80% of the space on the record list.

Leading the pack of these dominating titles for BTS is ‘Map of the Soul: 7’ which returned to the World Albums chart’s throne last week. That title has now led the charge for 26 nonconsecutive frames, or exactly half a year.

Coming in close second is BTS’s most recent album, ‘Be’. The title has been running the show for much of the time it’s been out, but now it’s been replaced at No. 1 by Map of the Soul: 7.

The only non-BTS release present inside the top five on this week’s World Albums chart is Blackpink’s ‘The Album’, which holds at No. 3, rounding out a completely static top three. BTS to collaborate with Justin Bieber for a new song
