BTS to collaborate with Justin Bieber for a new song

Korean pop band BTS announced a comeback in May with a new digital single.

The group surprised fans with a livestream countdown to the news earlier last evening. Not much to the surprise of all, over 800,000 fans tuned in to the surprise video. It lasted an hour and followed the journey of a small animated cube of butter with BTS’ logo as it slowly melted into the shape of a heart. The bright yellow video also featured sounds of a busy kitchen and a timer counting down to the announcement.

Once the clock ran out, the livestream briefly displayed the word ‘Butter’ and what we think was the track’s release date, May 21, 2021.

Mixing high- and low-cost styles is a well-worn fashion trick, and Korean pop sensations BTS are taking the approach to a whole new level in marketing deals announced this week.

After first agreeing with McDonald`s to promote a new meal selling for just over $6, the six-strong boyband has also been named brand ambassadors for Louis Vuitton, the purveyor of handbags that sell for well above $1,000.

The Grammy-nominated South Korean group, which now releases English-language songs too, has topped the album charts several times in the United States.
Louis Vuitton, the biggest sales driver at French luxury goods conglomerate LVMH, already works with a roster of celebrities to promote its wares, from actresses Emma Stone and Jennifer Connelly to actor and singer Jaden Smith.

Many brand ambassadors have starred in advertising campaigns but also popped up in the front row at fashion shows, helping drive buzz on social media, a marketing avenue top luxury brands have invested heavily in.

Asia - and especially China, where K-pop is also popular - provides major markets for luxury brands, and has fuelled sales bounces as COVID-19 restrictions ease.
Louis Vuitton`s menswear designer Virgil Abloh, known for his streetwear-style creations and who is friends with hip-hop star Kanye West, said the BTS partnership added "a modern chapter to the House, merging luxury and contemporary culture".

Luxury brands have not traditionally liked working with so-called influencers who represent other labels that do not fit with their high-end image, although the boundaries between sports and fashion for instance is starting to blur.

"As disparate as their businesses might seem, McDonald`s and Louis Vuitton share a need to onboard new generations of consumers," Carol Spieckerman, president at retail consultancy Spieckerman Retail, said.

Louis Vuitton had no comment on Friday on BTS` McDonald`s deal. Under that agreement, the band`s meal will launch starting next month in nearly 50 countries, and will include chicken McNuggets, fries, and two dips.

Neither Vuitton nor McDonald`s disclosed any financial details.

Who isn’t a mega BTS fan these days? The Korean pop band has captivated one and all with their music and Bollywood celebrity Disha Patani is not far from being a part of ARMY, as their fans like to call themselves.

This weekend, Disha Patani revealed which BTS track she loves the most and she shared it with the video of the song.
In the video, she put V in the spotlight, as he performed the intense choreography standing beside fellow member Jin. She shared the post with stickers and alphabet "V" resting between them.

K pop star BTS joined the #StopAsianHate campaign after they issued a statement on Monday condemning the recent wave of Anti-Asian violence and hate that is sweeping the US. The widely popular group also shared their own experiences of racism.

BTS shared the statement in both Korean and English on their official social media accounts. Without mentioning any incident, the K pop group offered "deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones” before narrating how they have "faced discrimination as Asians," including enduring "expletives without reason and were mocked for the way we look" and being "asked why Asians spoke in English."

The statement stresses that the band's "own experiences are inconsequential" compared to recent events but that the racism was "enough to make us feel powerless and chip away our self-esteem."

Read the full statement below:

We send our deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. We feel grief and anger.

We recall moments when we faced discrimination as Asians. We have endured expletives without reason and were mocked for the way we look. We were even asked why Asians spoke in English.

We cannot put into words the pain of becoming the subject of hatred and violence for such a reason. Our own experiences are inconsequential compared to the events that have occurred over the past few weeks. But these experiences were enough to make us feel powerless and chip away our self-esteem.

What is happening right now cannot be dissociated from our identity as Asians. It required considerable time for us to discuss this carefully and we contemplated deeply on how we should voice our message.

But what our voice must convey is clear.

We stand against racial discrimination. We condemn violence. You, I and we all have the right to be respected. We will stand together.

Without mentioning any incident, the K pop group offered "deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones” before narrating how they have "faced discrimination as Asians," including enduring "expletives without reason and were mocked for the way we look" and being "asked why Asians spoke in English." The statement stresses that the band's "own experiences are inconsequential" compared to recent events but that the racism was "enough to make us feel powerless and chip away our self-esteem." K-pop stars BTS named IFPI Global Recording Artist of the Year Read the full statement below: We send our deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. BTS star RM reveals the most famous Indian song in South Korea. BTS lost in the best pop duo or group performance against Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande for their single 'Rain on Me'.

The seven-member band is set to perform from South Korea later on Sunday`s telecast, were hoping to be the first K-Pop act to win a Grammy after a breakthrough year in the United States for the genre.

The event was virtual and had Harry Styles and Billie Eilish as part of the opening act. Both the artists performed from their respective homes, in empty rooms with just a few musicians for company.

The awards were announced online ahead of the main Grammys telecast on CBS television, which is expected to be a hybrid ceremony of live and pre-recorded performances but, because of the coronavirus pandemic, without the usual arena audience of thousands of musicians and industry executives.
Beyonce, the most nominated female artist in Grammy history with 79 career nods, went into the ceremony with a leading nine nominations, mostly from music that celebrated Black culture in a year of racial turmoil in the United States.

The Pop Diva, though, will not be performing at the ceremony which will have performances from the likes of Taylor Swift, Megan Thee Stallion, Eilish, Harry Styles, Latin star Bad Bunny, and Black country singer Mickey Guyton.

An unusually diverse line-up of contenders for the top prize - album of the year - means it could be anyone`s night.

"The nominations were so surprising - The Weeknd not getting nominated - it`s a very strange year to try to predict," said Melinda Newman, Billboard`s executive editor for the West Coast and Nashville.

"I think it`s going to be a year where no-one makes a clean sweep," she added.

The winners are chosen by some 11,000 voting members of the Recording Academy. Talk show host Trevor Noah will host the telecast.

Swift and British pop singer Dua Lipa got six nominations apiece, along with rapper Roddy Ricch. Lipa, and her album "Future Nostalgia," may have the edge as the only one of the trio to get nods in all three of the big races - album, record, and song of the year.
Coldplay gives a shoutout to BTS for 'Fix You' cover on MTV Unplugged

It was a big night for BTS fans as the K pop band featured on the much-anticipated MTV Unplugged episode that aired on February 24. The global pop stars crooned ‘Telepathy’ lyrics from the chart topping album ‘BE’ and the ARMY couldn’t get over it. “In the days that feel the same / I’m the happiest when I meet you / In my everyday life that is different every day / the person that is you is the most special to me," sang Jungkook and Jimin of BTS.

It was unlike any other MTV Unplugged episodes as was announced by the channel on February 9. They had then said that BTS will bring its own iteration of the iconic Unplugged format to life straight from Seoul, South Korea.
For ‘Telepathy’, BTS created a basement-style room filled with arcade games, couch, and more giving the old-school retro vibes. It is to be noted this was first performance of the B-side track. As they performed, Jimin reminded everyone that member Suga had returned to the stage after recovering from his recent shoulder surgery. Explaining the song, the rapper said, "We are in a situation where we can't meet the fans around the world in person due to COVID-19. So the song's lyrics describe the current situation of temporarily being apart from each other.”
