England and Wales Cricket Board has informally offered to be the hosts if India and Pakistan plan to play a bilateral Test series but BCCI sources said chances of that happening in near future is "next to nil".

The UK daily 'Telegraph' reported that "Martin Darlow, the deputy chairman of the England and Wales Cricket Board, has held talks with the Pakistan Cricket Board during the current Twenty20 series and offered England's grounds as venues for ideally a three-match Test series in future."

While the ECB has made the offer for its own commercial gains, the powers that be in the BCCI laughed off the suggestions and said that no such possibilities might arise at least in the next few years.

"The matches attract huge sponsorship revenue and television audiences."

However, the paper made it clear that even "PCB is not keen on playing India at neutral venue but are grateful for the ECB's offer, which shows the growing relationship between the two boards."

It stated that with the big nations again starting to tour Pakistan, it will be a "retrograde step in their eyes" if they happen to play on a neutral venue.

'I'm not at all concerned' - BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly backs Team India, 'not bothered with 2 or 3 losses'

In the reserves, the likes of Md Shami, Ravi Bishnoi, Shreyas Iyer and Deepak Chahar were named. The biggest exclusion was Sanju Samson, who wasn't even mentioned in the standby list. Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria feels India could've gone for Samson instead of Pant, who he believes 'shouldn't be part of the Indian T20 team at the moment'.

"India must keep their friendships aside and not pick players on that basis. Rishabh Pant doesn't look like a good T20 player. He is more suited to 50-over cricket and Test matches," Kaneria said in a video on his YouTube channel.

"Sanju Samson could be a better option over Rishabh Pant. Pant's recent performances also haven't been that great and Dinesh Karthik is also already there in the team," he opined.

All you need to know about the Impact Player rule

An impact player can be the 12th or 13th name on the team sheet alongside the original playing XI. The impact player can be introduced after the 10th over of the first innings and can replace only a player, who hasn't batted or is yet to bowl more than a single over.

The replacement player can bowl his full quota of four overs even if the player he replaced has already bowled one over. However, the impact player cannot bowl four overs if the match is interrupted by rain and the overs are reduced per innings. The impact player can be introduced only before the completion of the 14th over of the innings.

A member of the BCCI selection panel recently hinted that Shami still has a chance of being included in the squad if he can perform well and there is an injury or a slip-up in the performances of any of the selected pacers. The selector said Shami could have been considered had Bumrah and Harshal not recovered from their respective injuries.

"Someone who hasn’t played for 10 months in T20Is cannot be selected directly for the T20 World Cup. There was a process that was followed. Harshal Patel made the most during his absence. And it cannot be overlooked. Had Harshal or Jasprit not recovered, Shami could have been selected. He too has to follow the process," a member of the selection committee told InsideSport.

The court ruled that the cooling-off period should come into play only after an office bearer has completed two consecutive terms in either the board or a state association.

The office bearers can now hold a position in a state association and the BCCI for at least 12 years straight. They can complete two consecutive three-year terms at a state association followed by two three-year terms at the BCCI. The cooling-off period will be applicable post that.

The BCCI had sought the amendment of clause six&nbsp;in the board's constitution, which states that an official who has completed a term of three years each at a state cricket association and the BCCI will have to undergo a mandatory three-year cooling-off period before regaining a position in the board.

The amendment was sought in regards to the current tenure of BCCIs' office bearers, including president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah, who would have completed their respective first three-year terms at the BCCI in October this year.

Both Ganguly and Shah were serving in a state cricket association before taking over as BCCI's president and secretary in October 2019 and have completed six years. But they will now be able to continue in their respective roles and have a second term at the BCCI after the Supreme Court's order.

"We are of the considered view that the amendment would not dilute the original objective. We accept the proposed amendment," said the bench led by Justice&nbsp;DY&nbsp;Chandrachud.&nbsp;
