Over the years, BCCI has maintained a strict policy of not allowing active Indian players to take part in overseas leagues. However, their firm stance is expected to change.</p>

<p>The plea of the cricket body seeks to amend its constitution concerning the tenure of its office bearers including its President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah by doing away with the mandatory cooling-off period between tenures of office bearers across state cricket associations and the BCCI. Earlier, the Justice RM Lodha-led committee had recommended reforms in the BCCI which have been accepted by the top court.</p>

<p>Former India cricketer Venkatesh Prasad has slammed Team India's recent policy of resting out-of-form players and not dropping them from the team based on their reputation. Prasad believes giving breaks to players like captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli would not help them in regaining their form while also stating that there are a number of talented youngsters waiting in the wings to get opportunities for Team India.</p>

<p>Prasad's comments came after India's 17-run loss against England in the 2nd T20I where the likes of Kohli and Rohit failed to deliver yet again on top of the order. Both the batters were dismissed on 11 runs each as India's top-order crumbled under pressure in the 216-run chase. Suryakumar Yadav slammed a stunning knock of 117 runs in the game but it was not enough to take India over the line.</p>

<p>Prasad's remarks have come at a time when Kohli, in particular, is facing criticism from all corners over his ongoing lean patch. The star batter has struggled across all formats in international cricket for a while now and his recent failures have led to former cricketers and experts questioning his spot in India's T20I team ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022 this year.</p>

<p>It is Sourav Ganguly's 50th birthday on Friday (July 08). The former Indian captain and current BCCI President turns 50 as the whole cricketing fraternity joined in to wish him on his special day. Ganguly was instrumental in the rise of Indian cricket post the shambolic match-fixing saga, which rocked the national team&nbsp;in the early 2000s, and led the Men in Blue&nbsp;from 2000-2005.</p>

<p>Under Ganguly, India revamped and produced a host of talented cricketers such as Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, MS Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Mohammed Kaif, etc. whereas seniors such as Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Javagal Srinath, Anil Kumble and Sachin Tendulkar also enjoyed a long and successful run. Ganguly retired from international cricket in 2008, with over 7,212 and 11,363 Test and ODI runs, respectively. He is serving as the BCCI chief since late 2019 and currently is in London with his family and friends for his 50th birthday.</p>

It is Sourav Ganguly's 50th birthday on Friday (July 08). The former Indian captain and current BCCI President turns 50 as the whole cricketing fraternity joined in to wish him on his special day. Ganguly was instrumental in the rise of Indian cricket post the shambolic match-fixing saga, which rocked the national team in the early 2000s, and led the Men in Blue from 2000-2005. Under Ganguly, India revamped and produced a host of talented cricketers such as Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, MS Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Mohammed Kaif, etc. whereas seniors such as Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Javagal Srinath, Anil Kumble and Sachin Tendulkar also enjoyed a long and successful run. Ganguly retired from international cricket in 2008, with over 7,212 and 11,363 Test and ODI runs, respectively. He is serving as the BCCI chief since late 2019 and currently is in London with his family and friends for his 50th birthday. On his birthday, Ganguly made heads turn by grooving to famous Bollywood songs in the streets of London with his family -- daughter Sana and wife Dona -- friends and a group of fans.
