West Indies star all-rounder has been ruled out of the Cricket World Cup 2019 owing to an injury ob his left knee, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed.
In the ongoing edition, Russell has taken five wickets in four matches he played, in the match against New Zealand, Russell was dropped.
Russell visibly struggled with a knee problem during Windies' match against Bangladesh.

The 26-year old batsman Sunil Ambris has been confirmed as Russell's replacement.

Ambris will join up with his team in preparation for his side's match against India at Old Trafford on Thursday.
West Indies, who currently sit eighth in the standings, need three wins from their final three matches to remain in contention for a semi-final spot.
Jason Holder's side next face India at Old Trafford on Thursday.
