Paris Olympics: Netizens in frenzy over Turkish shooter's non-gear, swagger act; dub him as 'hitman'

Paris Olympics 2024: After the Hollywood-styled shooting act performed by Kim Yeji at the Olympics made everyone go like, “Oh! So cool”, the X is now obsessing over Turkish shooter, Yusuf Dikec‘s nonchalant shooting act.

If the class act by Korean player Yeji earned her the social media title of “coolest sharpshooter”, then Dikec’s no-gear shooting skills are making netizens doubt he is probably an “experienced hitman.”

Fun fact: both Yeji and Dikec won silver in their respective shooting competitions.

The photograph of Dikec is all over the internet. The 51-year-old athlete taking aim with one hand in his pocket and wearing minimum gear has made social media go into a frenzy.

Dikec was compared to other athletes who participated in the air pistol mixed team competition, all decked up in specialised gear, including special goggles, lenses to avoid blur and ear protectors for noise. But in stark contrast, the Turkish shooter redefined confidence and attitude when he appeared at the Paris Olympics 2024 stage in prescription glasses and normal earplugs and went on to win the silver with one hand in his pocket.

Yusuf Dikec is a Turkish sports shooter competing in pistol events. Yusuf hails from Mersin, Turkey and is a retired non-commissioned officer of the Turkish Gendarmerie.

In 2006, Dikec set a new world record in a 25 m centre-fire pistol event at the CISM Military World Championships held in Rena, Norway scoring 597 points.

He wonbronze medal in the 10 m air pistol event at the 2012 ISSF World Cup Final held in Bangkok, Thailand.

He and his teammate Şevval İlayda Tarhan won the silver medal in the 10 m air pistol Mixed team event at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.
