
China's Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao won the first gold medal at the ongoing Paris Olympic Games 2024 in the 10m air rifle mixed team event on Saturday (Jul 27). The Chinese teenduo are also the reigning world champions in the event. They beat South Korea's Keum Ji-hyeon and Park Ha-jun 16-12 to win the maiden gold of the Summer Games.
Paris Olympic Games 2024 first gold medal winners are teenagers. Huang Yuting, playing in her first Olympics, is 17 years old while Sheng is 19 years old.

Sheng had also played in the Tokyo 2021 games and had become the youngest Olympic medalist with a silver medal in the 10m air rifle event aged 16 years and 233 days.
The duo has pretty much been unbeatable in the last year or so, having won the 2023 World Championship in Baku, Azerbaijan and the Asian Games in Hangzhou at home.
The pair finished with stunning accuracy and stability in the qualification round, scoring 632.2 points - just one short of the Olympic qualification record.
In thematch against South Korea, the duo gave China an early lead of 6-2 before the South Korean pair clawed their way back. The score was 14-8 and South Korea had all the chances to equalize.
South Korea's Keum shot 10.5 to go with Park's 10.6 and the pressure was back on the Chinese team before Sheng shot a 10.7 and Huang sealed the gold with a 10.8 shot. The Chinese duo eventually won 16-12.
Kazakhstan's pair of Alexandra Le and Islam Satpayev won a bronze medal in the same event to claim the first medal of the Paris Olympic Games 2024.
India shooters, meanwhile, failed to qualify for the medal round of the event.
