Cristiano Ronaldo won the Globe Soccer Awards' Best Player of the Year prize for the sixth year in a row on Thursday during the award ceremony held Dubai's Madinat Jumeirah Resort.
Ronaldo won the award ahead of Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann and Paris Saint Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, both of whom were part of the French squad that won the 2018 FIFA World Cup held in Russia.
After winning the award, Ronaldo said, "It's been a tough year, I win many trophies this year, the Champions league, and it was unbelievable here again. So I'm so glad to win one more trophy, as I say before 2019, it's a new year and I'm dreaming to win many, many things, many important trophies for Juventus."
The news was announced on the organisation'sofficial Twitter account, it read, "Cristiano Ronaldo is the winner of the Best Player Of The Year Award, presented by His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Vice President of the Dubai Sports Council."
Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, won the Best Club of the Year award, prevailing over Real Madrid and Liverpool.
Atleti won the 2017-18 Europa League title and the 2018 UEFA Super Cup after defeating its cross-town rival Real Madrid 4-2.

Deschamps won the trophy ahead of Atletico Madrid's Diego Simeone, Juventus' Massimiliano Allegri, Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp and former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane.
Legendary Brazil forward Ronaldo Nazario de Lima earned the Player Career Award.
