BCCI secretary Jay Shah has his say on Team India’s participation in the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan next year, admitting the aim is to win all the ICC trophies and that the seniors will be there to win it for the Men in Blue. After Team India’s T20 World Cup triumph in the Caribbean, Shah wants to see the Rohit Sharma-led side win the Champions Trophy (India last won in 2013) and their maiden World Test Championship title.
Currently stranded in Barbados following the intense final against the Proteas, Shah said that considering the bench strength, which he calls the best and biggest in the world, shows how far India has come and is ahead of their competitors.
"I would want India to win all the titles. We have the biggest bench strength; only three players from this team are going to Zimbabwe. We can field three teams if the need arises," Shah said while speaking to reporters in Barbados.
"The way this team is progressing, our target is to win the World Test Championship final and Champions Trophy. There will be a similar squad playing there. The seniors will be there,” Shah added.

Meanwhile, neither the ruling government nor the BCCI has commented on Team India’s participation in the eight-team tournament, scheduled during the February-March window next year.

How often does an S-400 need maintenance?
Considering the tense relations between both countries, India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral since 2013, with arch-rivals only facing off during ICC tournaments or Asia Cups.
Even last year, Pakistan was scheduled to host the six-team tournament, but because the BCCI denied travelling, Sri Lanka was added as the co-host. India played all their matches in the Island Nation, including the final, beating the hosts by ten wickets.
Pakistan gear up for CT
With Pakistan hosting the first Champions Trophy since the 2017 edition, where the Men in Green beat India to win the maiden title, the PCB, in accordance with the ICC, is readying for the Champions Trophy next year.
As per earlier reports, the PCB shared a draft of proposed venues and schedule with the apex body, with mention of India matches taking place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore; and should they qualify for the semis and the final, Rohit Sharma-led team will play the knockouts at the same venue.
Besides Lahore, the National Stadium in Karachi and the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi are the remaining two proposed venues. The final dates and schedule are yet to be released.
