Tennis is among the most watched yet richest sports worldwide. With countless superstars having graced this over a century-old individual sport, and several continue to do so, the fans today are ready to splurge big bucks to watch their favourites play on a court. On Sunday (Jul 14), two superstars – Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz will battle it out for the men’s Wimbledon title, with reports suggesting the ticket prices for the marquee clash being a whopping $10,000 (INR 8.3 lakh) and beyond.
This insane pricing of just one ticket at the Centre Court tells a lot about the sport, its growing craze, and what is at stake.
Per a user named Darren Powell on X, the Djokovic-Alcaraz Wimbledon 2024 Final will be the most expensive in the history of sports, with the price of the worst seat in the stands being worth $10,000, let alone the price of the best seats in the house.

Other reports suggest that the highest price of a ticket in Debenture 315 is $11,305 (INR 9.4 lakh), and if a fan is sitting along the baseline, across from the Royal Box (in Debenture 207) – the price would surge to £18,073, or nearly $23,000 or INR 19 lakh and beyond.
Despite the prices for the men’s Wimbledon 2024 Final blowing the roof off, the marquee final - the repeat of last year’s summit clash will be houseful.
History at stake in Wimbledon
The third slam of the year has always been the most thrilling and exciting affair, with this season being any different.
Cruising through to the final calls for determination, grit, skill display, resilience and whatnot, and these two finalists have shown this every second.
While Spanish fans will have a busy Sunday, considering Alcaraz is playing in the Wimbledon Final and their men’s football team is facing England in the Euros 2024 finale in Berlin, the Serbians will hope to see their greatest-ever athlete bag his record 25th Slam title.
At last year’s final, Alcaraz down Djokovic in a nerve-wracking encounter, with the young Spaniard now aiming to defend his crown for the first time in his career. If he beats the veteran Djokovic, Alcaraz will become only the second player in the Open era after Roger Federer to win his first four major finals appearances.
Moreover, he would also join legends Bjorn Borg and Boris Becker as the only men with multiple Wimbledon titles aged 21 or younger.
Meanwhile, if Novak reigns supreme, he will become the most successful Tennis player, male or female, with most Grand Slam title wins (25), surpassing Australia’s Margaret Court.
