A massive fire broke out at a chemical godown close to Jagannath Ghat near Kolkata's iconic Howrah Bridge on Saturday morning. As many as 20 fire tenders are present at the spot while fire fighting operations are underway.

More details are awaited; no loss of life or any word on people injured has been reported yet. The cause of fire is not known. 

Debtanu Bose, fire officer said, "no casualty reported and 25 fire tenders present. Fire is yet to be controlled. We're unable to make an entry inside the building, roof in the middle part of the building has also collapsed." 

Earlier this week, a massive fire fuelled by high-intensity winds gutted over 250 shanties of labourers in the city's Trikutanagar area in Jammu. No casualties were reported in the blaze.

The Army distributed food and relief material to over 150 civilians, an official said.

The Maratha cluster mainly housed migrant labourers from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, besides some Rohingyas.
