Kher said he would be taking more classes at FTII as he begins to understand the dynamics of the film school.
Newly-appointed FTII chairman Anupam Kher reported to work in the Pune-based film school today.
The veteran actor who was appointed as the new chairman of Television Institute of India (FTII) last week, spent the day today taking classes at the institute and even spared some time to eat with students in the canteen.
Kher said he would be taking more classes at FTII as he begins to understand the dynamics of the film school.
The actor stood in the queue at the counter of the canteen with other students.
"....39 years ago, I came to this place as a student. Today, I once again came to the institute without informing anybody, as I wanted to walk into this premier institute as a student. This is the place where I learned how to face a camera and at NSD (National School of Drama) I learned how to act," he told reporters on the campus.
The acclaimed Bollywood actor succeeding Gajendra Chauhan whose appointment in 2014 had triggered widespread student protests.

Gajendra Chauhan's tenure as chairman of the institute had expired in March. The government decided notto give him an extension instead Kher was seen as a more "acceptable face"to head the film institute.
Kher had also been involved in a war of words with Chauhan when at the time of his appointment as FTII chairman, Kher had said that "the FTII needed a person with much more qualifications than Chauhan had as a producer, director or actor".
Anupam Kher is a National Award winner, who began his acting career with the film "Saaransh" in 1984 and has done more than 500 films.
He has also served as the Chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), and from 2001 to 2004 served as the Director of National School of Drama.
