The development came hours after the Indian Army launched Operation Dhanush II in the Keran sector of Kupwara.
The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a surge in terrorist attacks over the last few weeks with militants targeting locations in Kathua, Doda, Reasi, and Udhampur districts. The attacks resulted in the death of 15 people, including nine pilgrims and six members of the security forces.
Terrorists are attacking areas where road connectivity is poor so that it takes more time for the army to dispatch reinforcements.
Jammu and Kashmir Police have taken more than 20 suspects in custody following these attacks for interrogation and questioning. The probe into the attacks is still underway.
