It was a close shave for Spicejet passengers at Shirdi airport as the airline's Shirdi-bound SG946 from Delhi overshot the runway on Monday.
All the passengers are safe, no harm or loss has been reported. Meanwhile, Shirdi Airport Director Deepak Shastri has said that the runway has been closed temporarily as rescue operations are underway.
The airline, in a statement, said "A SpiceJet B737-800 aircraft operated between Delhi to Shirdi overshot the runway while landing at Shirdi. All passengers and crew are safe and are being deplaned normally".
The aircraft apparently touched down some 30-40 meters away from the landing spot and veered off the runway, news agency PTI reported.
A source also said the incident lead to a complete halting of operations at the airport that serves mostly the pilgrims visiting the popular Hindu shrine in the city, PTI reported.
