The Centre is bracing for another turbulent Parliament session as the Opposition signalled its intentions by raising contentious issues such as the NEET-UG row and the Kanwar order controversy at an all-party meeting on Sunday (July 21).
In the all-party meeting, called by the Centre ahead of the Budget Session of the Parliament, the Congress demanded the appointment of a deputy speaker from the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
Defence minister Rajnath Singh chaired the all-party meeting.

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi raised the raging NEET-UG row and the alleged misuse of central agencies like the ED and CBI.
Samajwadi Party MP Ram Gopal Yadav raised UP government's order for shopkeepers to display their names outside their shops along the Kanwar Yatra route.
Congress MP Jairam Ramesh asserted that the TDP did not demand special status for Andhra Pradesh. However, he mentioned that BJP ally JDU raised the issue of special status for Bihar.

Notably, JD(U), a key ally in the ruling NDA, had recently passed a resolution demanding special category status for Bihar.
"In the all-party meeting of floor leaders chaired by the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the universal demand was for the constitution of the 24 Department-Related Standing Committees and giving them their due importance. There was also an universal demand for reviving the Consultative Committees where MPs can interact with the Ministers concerned," the minister further added.

It may be mentioned here, the session begins on Monday (July 22) and will have a total of 19 sittings till August 12 when the government is likely to present six bills, including the one to replace the 90-year-old Aircraft Act, and also get Parliament's nod for the budget of Jammu and Kashmir.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the Economic Survey in Parliament on Monday, and then present the Union Budget on Tuesday.
