Mumbai: A massive fire erupted at Riya Palace, located in the Lokhandwala Complex of Andheri West, on the morning of October 16, resulting in the heartbreaking deaths of three individuals. The incident was reported to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) Mumbai Fire Brigade at approximately 8:05 AM.
Victims identified
The victims of this devastating fire have been identified as 74-year-old Chandraprakash Soni and Kanta Soni, along with 42-year-old Pelubeta. Following the incident, the Chief Medical Officer at Cooper Hospital confirmed that all three were declared dead upon arrival, leaving the community in shock.

According to the reports, the blaze began in a residential flat on the 10th floor of the 14-storey building. Firefighters responded swiftly, and their efforts managed to bring the flames under control by 8:58 AM. Despite their prompt response and tireless work, three residents were found unresponsive in the flat.
Community mourns loss
Local residents shared that Chandraprakash Soni was the owner of Avalon, a shipping company situated in the RNA Shopping Complex. In the wake of the fire, his office staff, who had worked with him for 15 to 20 years, gathered at the scene, visibly distressed as they mourned the loss of a man they regarded as a "father figure." Many remembered him fondly, recalling his kindness and dedication to both his work and his employees.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, which remains uncertain at this time. This tragic incident has had a profound impact on all those involved, and more updates are expected in the days ahead.
