Two men were lynched in Jharkhand Wednesday after they were accused of stealing cattle. 

The killings took place in Jharkhand's Godda district. 

The two victims were identified by police as Jirafuddin Ansari (35) and Murtaza Miyan (30) from Taljhari village in Godda.

A video of one of the victims slung from a bamboo pole had gone viral on social media. 

News reports quoted police as saying Ansari and Miyan had previous cases of cattle theft lodged against them. 

The reports quoted police as saying five men been accused of stealing 13 buffaloes from Bankatti village. 

The men were later caught by Bankatti villagers in Taljhari village. 

The reports said three of the men managed to escape but Ansari and Miyan were caught and lynched.
